GFI Synesthesia and also either Strymon DIG V2 and or EL CAP V2 setup through midi for MOD or Textures. Also a Good Reverb (Red Panda Context V2) with some modulation there as well.
I'm still rocking a TC Electronic Chorus+. Got two of the originals. Using one, keeping the other for whenever the first one eventually gives out. And I have an H9, an SPX90 (gotta love that Symphonic preset 15), and other assorted goodies. The Chorus+ gets used most often.
That funky Chica chica tone was cool 😎, with it being like two pedals..and changing the order, the combinations are endless! Mind blowing in my opinion.
I was hoping the Meris LVX would have more of these capabilities in addition to the delay capabilities. But I couldn't get rid of that pedal fast enough. The Synesthesia with a Specular Tempus or Source Audio Collider might cover all modulation and time based effect needs on a board at this point. Find the ultimate 3 or 4 drive pedals to round things out and you would have one helluva board.
had this for a while on a small board, really great inspiration/creative box, ultimately it made me realise I 'only' really needed a good tremolo and reverb (cue Strymon Flint 😄) the pitch effects were so so i thought, but for interesting glitchy/lo-fi and solid modulation effects it was a great pedal the fx loop/integration where you can place it before/after pedals depending on the preset is really clever too
Forgive my ignorance, but what are those three tunes starting at 2:58? I'm particularly interested in the second one Leon plays at that point. Thanks in advance!
This is an amazing demonstration, but I have no idea what it can do that the Eventide H 90 cannot do. I'm impressed enough with the H90 that I do not think there is much that you can deep dive and do on this pedal that you cannot also do on the H 90.If I'm wrong, then let me know.
Yeah you aren't going to want for much with the H90! The warped vinyl stuff is probably possible as well as the S&H/arp filters with a bunch of tweaking.
Wow, one of the few times my first thought was “I need one of these” instead of “I can do that in my AxeFX”…….or “I can ask Leon to replicate it in the AxeFX then give us the block” 😂
Had this pedal a year ago for a while, but ended up returning it because it had extremely loud background noises depending on the effect... and it wasnt my cables or other of my gear. Can you confirm this or maybe i just had a bad unit?
I can confirm this. I've had mine for close to 2 years now that I got for a great deal, really the only reason I bought it. It would solve my entire board with it's midi capabilities, but I just can't get over the noise, latency, and lack of oomf with some of the effects. The phaser is boring and too tame, an is too "envelopy" rather than "chuggy". The choruses are noisy and bland, and to top it off, there's a noticable latency that I just can't get past. I'm going to keep mine for now to try to love it again, but I've largely been dissapointed with all of the sounds available.
@@GregWilky1 Oh, I am sorry for this! But finally someone who has the same problems I had with this pedal. You don't find too much about this pedal in the internet, and if so, everybody seems to love it. I really liked the dimension C chorus in it and some other cool effects. Also the possibility to run two effects at the same time. But it was so loud and noisy that I really could not use it at all. I am wondering why there are not any other people complaining about it.
@@alexguitarman my best guess is that most people are convincing themselves it's good because it SHOULD be good. It's passable if you haven't already played other dedicated analog mod pedals, but I've grown up on using a CE-3 and cry a little on the inside every time I try to recreate a warm, lush chorus.
Great demo BUT, 2:08 in and there comes my issue with many demos and personal experiences. The pedal gets activated and not only the sound changes, also the volume goes up significantly and ofc, it sounds bigger. If not so, I apologize but here's my question, is there a device or pedal, that is able to keep everything at a certain volume level and preferably shows this in numbers (no computer plugins). This issue itches me a while now. Greetings
There is; yea. They are called 'buffer pedals.' Any pedal with a volume or gain knob that. You can adjust a long the chain to keep the volume level with what u want.
Yep, loud is more good. You can adjust the volume of each patch to get unity gain if you want this. The spatial nature of a lot of these effects can change perceived volume as well. I could fix it in post but then I'm not representing the pedal accurately.
@@LeonTodd thx for answering! What I'm searching for, is a pedal at the end of the signal chain, that shows a number, that I can compare to other devices and let's me choose a certain volume. Simple explanation, 1 knob and a small screen with a number, the device reads out the input volume, so you can compare different settings at same level.
About a year ago, i had this pedal on loan for couple of weeks. My initial impression was not so spectacular, mainly due to factory presets being aimed much more towards experimental & just weird, glitchy sounds. Then i downloaded the symm lab editor and sat down to make some more common mod sounds that i would use. I ended up making some really gorgeous and lush patches. The choruses are excelent, so are the phasers and tremolos. The rotary is especially lovely and overall the pedal is very transparent and plays very well with gain. The ability to put 2 algorithms in paralell realy makes the sound pristine, especialy when you combine 2 types of chorus for example. My final thought was that the guys from GFI did not do justice to this pedal with factory presets. This pedal can realy be a stellar do-it-all mod box. There are some weak points, however - univibe doesn't really sound like a univibe, octave shifter is glitchy on the upper octave if you crank up the mix....but, that's about it. Everything else sounds very good. Since i have the Specular Tempus, this would be my top pick for a multimod pedal.
Had it, sold it. It was not because the pedal wasn't good for me. I wasn't good for the pedal. The Eventide H90 is a better match in my case. Nice video though, again.
What rules the roost for modulation in your world?
synesthesia and boss md 500 are the most up-to-date innovative devices in this field. If not digital mfx: ehx small clone, boss ph-2, dod flanger
I have the Eventide H90. It's not really a do it all modulation pedal.
It's a do it all effects pedal.

You can even run it so that one effect is before an amp and another is in the loop!

Flint is a classic for a reason!
This is the pedal I'm most interested in right now, even more so than the H90.
Love the detune fx
It's got the grease!
uni vibe tones are sweet . on the bridge of sighs riff nice.
Nicely done!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great demo Leon. Im thinking of picking one of these up. Would you need one if you already have an Axe fx?
It makes the Lo-Fi/glitch stuff a little easier and immediate IMO
02:58 ...well, that is pretty much a greatest hits playlist of my life.

I'm surprised it's not stereo in 🤔
It's the biggest frustration I have with old rack gear.
I simply wouldn't buy anything without it now.

Gotta do it!
When 14:12 kicks in and you got your 🎧 on:
Love this Leon! Thank you!
The definition of a guitarist needs to be updated from ”a person who plays guitar” to ”a person who buys new gear” 😂
This is the way

Hahaha you know it. Those lofi sounds are particularly fun.
Detune, flanger and an arp. What more could you want?
Cookies?
I may get this instead of a Boss MD-500 for the same price; I hope some shootout videos will be published.
That would be an interesting side by side. Been a while since I've tried the MD500.

H90 is the only other pedal with a mod/pitch section that matches this. Nice having delay and verbs too!
Missed chance at Synesthesia (Porcupine Tree)
Considered this to cover my modulation needs but came to the realization that although it takes up alot of room analog is the way.
It sounds so purple I can almost taste it....
I think it sounds just OK. Reminds me of my old Korg multi FX from the 90s.
