The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is an upcoming survival horror interactive drama video game developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is the third of eight planned installments in The Dark Pictures Anthology series, following 2019's Man of Medan and 2020's Little Hope. It is set to be released in October 2021 for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Similar to its predecessor, the game is an interactive drama. The player controls 5 characters who are trapped under an underground Mesopotamian temple during the 2003 Iraq War where they are stalked then hunted by monsters awoken by the chaos. The 5 characters include CIA officer Rachel King (Ashley Tisdale), her husband, US Air Force lieutenant colonel Eric King (Alex Gravenstein), USMC Force Recon marines first lieutenant Jason Kolchek (Paul Zinno) and sergeant Nick Kay (Moe Jeudy-Lamour), and Iraqi Army lieutenant Salim Othman (Nick Tarabay). Throughout the game, players need to make different decisions which can have long-term consequences as they influence how characters perceive each other and the course of the narrative. All five characters can survive or die depending on the player's decision. As a result, the game has multiple endings.

I got the ending where Jason and Salim both lived I felt like it was the right ending because of the whole the enemy of my enemy is my friend deal I tried to save Nick but he died right at the end
There were times where I thought about letting Rachel die so we could move on, but I got through it, made her pick Eric super early on, and moved on with the game before we even got all the way to the cave
In general, Jason and Salim are better than the three spastics we were forced to play as and hear about their little love thingy...
Perfect ending about saving everyone but the best ending should have been Salim allow to walk away back to his son before the evac chopper arrives.
There are endings where salim escapes before the copper arrives

Jason and Salim were the best in this game.
Salim is a badass while Jason has the best character development (if you choose the good options).
I swear, Salim has a higher kill count of those monster than anyone while using a metal pipe. (And I’m excluding explosive and fire unless it is directly)
Honestly seeing that you had an option for the crucifix to fight against Baladur (probably wrong, I'm sorry) is the most horrifying part.
He knew the practices were awful, yet had no choice because he was facing someone who had the mask of the 24,000-year 'First King' back in the Mesopotamian era. How do you say no to your god?
My first playthrough they were the only two that I saved Nick died right at the end I was so pissed because I was trying to keep him alive but the ending that I got felt right because of the whole the enemy of my enemy is my friend deal

I’m hoping that supermassive have learned from their mistakes (especially Little Hope as that game was a dumpster fire)

@@Puggers22 really the only decision that matters is Mary's fate. Even if all 4 other people "die" as long as Mary is saved the bus driver lives.
Man of Medan did have real monsters. The criminals/pirates.
There was romance however the bromance between Jason and Salim felt stronger
best game from Dark Pictures so far, quite intense, unpredictable and REAL monsters this time. Until Dawn's wendigo is decent but I hate almost all of the characters lol

Gotta say, it made my miss the Chris/Ashley and Mike/Jessica plots from Until Dawn. At least those couples look like they actually like each other.
So, Merwin went from bleeding out and being in the base-camp, to being supposedly abandoned in a random corridor? They drug him in and propped him on a wall, so when did he magically get separated and left in a hallway? Then he's magically up again and walking around after being incapable of walking for the past few hours, they didn't perform any first aid besides applying Morphine. This was complete nonsense from a story continuity perspective.
I think he was in the early stages of infection...

Pharmacist here- that part about the morphine really irked me. Morphine does not take effect that quickly, and the dose required to induce unconsciousness is 90+ mg (which would likely cause an overdose, not sedation).
@@NoSafeHavens he probably passed out from shock but your right he probably wouldn't just fall unconscious like that.
There's a big chance that he's in the early stage of infections. Since Joey was dead, not bitten or stabbed, but as soon as they arrived at the temple he was reanimated as a vampire and all his wounds heal afterwards. Symptoms of the disease would be hallucinations, constant pain and more. It was heard in the middle of the game that Joey was screaming, probably turning already with the parasite confined inside him. Probably the same happened to Merwin since he was left in that hallway. He probably was bitten or taken by a Parasite.

Do the five candles on the candlebra represent the five main characters? And at 1:24:54 does the candle hint at Rachel still being alive? His dialogue seems to link death with a light going out.
Update: snuff (verb) is the word used alot to indicate death, snuff means to extinguish (a flame or candle).

Btw, by mythology, an eclipse was feared by Mesopotamians, especially the Akkads and the Babylonians. it signified alot of bad things, such as a King would die or etc.
The king committed blasphemy and angered the gods (idk if it was the moon god especially or the Sun god). He built the temple on top of that alien space ship. Unfortunately for him, he messed up.

Salim never used his pistol because the rifles don't work, let alone a pistol. He tested it against a vamp or a creature who chased him after being pissed off Salim for baiting him into being clowned by a truck. He shot a whole mag at the creature but to no avail.
Not to mention, rifles don't even do significant damage.
Man that Metal pipe got him so many kill counts of those vampires while that pistol did nothing.
But honestly this the only way for all humans to become united that find another greater enemy to fight against it all together!
I like how they connected this game with little hope, Rachel caused the accident that set the little hope story into motion. Neat detail in my opinion.

@@ohno5222 the events of Little Hope the game take place in the year 2020. This game takes place in 2003, and the Eric/Rachel flashback in 2000.

It’s just a nice coincidence that they’re at the same location, but Little Hope (present time) takes place in 2020 while House of Ashes takes place 2003, also I believe that the flashback for Eric and Rachel is 3 years ago, which mean that the accident was in the 2000.

As a military man I can't get past how disrespectful the red shirts at the beginning of the game where with a Lt.Colonel. A Lt.Colonel's briefing is NOT the time to stick in one liners. That would be a fast track to worst couple of weeks of your life. lol
i think everyone was out of it, especially with the marriage problems (he was too focused on rachel to focus on reprimanding people) and correct me if i'm wrong as i have no real MODERN military knowledge aside from the navy, war movies and doccos gave me the impression that this was how they talked casually with each other when in stressful situations. though if i were him i'd totally have snapped on merwin's ass
Most of the videos I have seen, Rachel took off her ring but here, She kept it at 3:03:30. I wonder how that happened.
After beating the game u can have alternative gameplay which makes u play as rachael in the first part, u can choose to put on the ring, i guess the AI automatically puts it on when playing for first time

I hate Balathu so fkn much... Bc of him in my story Nick died and I had to replay the entire scene just to make sure he was alive. (I replayed the scene cuz I wanted to.)
One of the best scenes is definitely the gunships at the end mowing down the vampires.

its pretty amazing what they can do with mocap, but i really wish they spent a little extra time on the facial animations its pulls you out of the immersion sometimes. Other than that damn solid game with a good story!

people wanted real stuff so bad they could bear with anything . this is mixed story lines and as a reviewer its disappointing . the story is mix of somthing like alien +tomb rider +vampires theres a lot of mixTure and it losses its originality and more of idealistic storyline ..u see the past games were more real ofc ofc wendigos arent real but there are many movies on human turned into malnutrated looking cannibals so in a way it can be said its possible ....but here 5 marines? it was horror at first but then why add the alien stuff? even when they did one of them survives a fucking explosion...i mean wtf is goin on ...the story losses its seriousness and becomes more of a fiction......if compaired only in terms of story little ope still stands on top
The so called "aliens" are vampires and die as such so explosions won't kill them like salim said only a stake through the heart and sunlight kills them and while all the games were pretty bad id say this one is a huge step up, it's super boring and tedious for the 1st half but at the second half the fights are more common and you get to see the vampires more the whole love rectangle is horrible but aside from that the story is good and the fights are better my only complaint now is that it's like 95% a movie gameplay once every 5 minutes the whole games just a movie with quick time events placed in it.
The elevator scene with everyone alive is so great.
