The phone rings at FBI headquarters. “Hello? I’m calling to report my neighbor, Clifford. He is hiding marijuana inside his firewood!” “Thank you very much for the call, sir.” The next day, FBI agents descend on the neighbor’s house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. They swear at the neighbors and leave. The phone rings at the neighbors house. Hey, Clifford, did the FBI come?” “Yep.” “Did they chop your firewood?” “Yep.” “Great, now it’s your turn to call. I need my garden plowed.”

      Yeah, he’s an exceptional guy.
Hopefully, with technology giving people a voice unlike anytime in history. People having more access to information ~ and real world examples, be it historically or currently. It’s only a matter of time until a new~better system is created.
Realistically only a handful of people have dramatically & directly influenced each society/ humanity.
Previously you’d have to be born in power, like King Sejong ( A Korean king, that created the Korean language, and had its people and kingdom (government) drop “Chinese”)
Or be born at the right time,
Alan Turning ~ The father of problem solving computing. ( Who wouldn’t have received funding nor the team if it wasn’t for WW2. And because of his sexual preference, would’ve never been taken seriously.
Or, you’d need to have to extraordinary willpower & foresight, such as MLK.
Even though he’s gotten a lot of flack, Dennis Rodman impacted the world, by going to a closed country. It may have been minor, but no one else did what he did.
Sadly, scumbags like Steve Jobs greatly slowed down the process of human society. Forcing so much $ to be wasted unnecessarily for private gain. Most of the great minds in computing & programming, saw it as a great equalizer.
Hopefully there is someone out there, wealthy and powerful enough, to see how greatly society could benefit from making devices, cheaper, more accessible. So more ideas can get out there. ( Bill Gates has done an incredible amount of work globally.)
If a business, decides to design smart phones, laptops, computers, to be cheaper, easily upgradable, that would be a huge business. Which ‘could’ lead to better solutions, options being found, supported & taken more seriously.

I lost hope in the justice system. I went to court for the first time ever in my life at 24 years old. I was issued a citation to appear in court because the police said I fled from an area of crime I was never visiting/loitering. I went to court they offered a plea of guilty for 8 days. I pleaded not guilty. I sat and sat in jail for at least a month. I had my own place to live and gainfully employed in Seattle. Caught the ferry from kidnap/kitsap county to king. I was so tired of rotting in jail not hearing in anything. I had bills to pay, wearing on my mind, I kept to myself because I had nothing in common with the inmates. Even the guards knew this is not a violent person so they moved to a more relaxed pod. I saw people in there for murder and violent offenses and two weeks later they were sentenced. Me nothing felt abandoned. I called my public defender and said I want to plea guilty. From that phone call two days later I was out, Nothing I could do. I got home looked at my ferry ticket, my work schedule and my paperwork incident pissed off and crying because it was proof I wasn’t even there. Can’t flee from a crime when I’m in different city at work. If the cops came over and they want me for a crime then here’s a proof of perjury. 48 years old today and still my only charge. For the first couple of years out I was scared to interact with the public, I even wanted to be a sheriff once with wcloe Washington certificate law enforcement. Not so much anymore.

The idea that rape is an accepted part of serving your time (or in this case being locked up while innocent until proven guilty) is so awful to me and shows how corrupting it is to be a part of this system.
P.S. paying your taxes doesn't make you a hero. Also, after 40 years of austerity I doubt people in government are just casting their eyes around looking to add more costs to public services. The reason people want to end private bail and are willing to accept an extra cost (minus the cost of all the people who sit in Riker's cuz they can't get bail) is because this system is wrong. Somehow it seems natural that a publicly funded criminal justice system would be willing to fund its operation and management without outsourcing its basic functions to for-profit companies just to potentially save some money.

I tried and tried to explain the two guys and even went to the company explaining she doesn't live there. I bought the house. It's mine. The only female who lives there was my 3 year old daughter at the time. She's six now. I got tired of it. So I was coming home seeing there vehicles there again. I got out of my car. Took a video. Sent it to the owner. Said good luck in court. They paid for my house twice over and hes no longer in business.

my bail bondsman was very nice (10% of $1500 is only $150,like whatever), he was prompt and helpful, friendly and comforting, told Mom how pretty I am... what struck me in court was that half the people were in jail. literally ALL of *those* people were black. ALL the Hispanic and the white people (just me and one other guy... makes me think minorities might be getting TARGETED or something) were able to tap into our family networks and come up with at least 10% of whatever the bond was set at.
I spent 2 hours in a pretend jail, where they didn't make us change our shoes or clothes or anything, it was a quick processing thing, just paperwork. makes me feel like we were on a different planet from the poor people, who came in SHACKLED. very sad.

Got arrested, bailed out, hired a lawyer, plead down on time, and did my week in jail. From my misdemeanor arrest to my court date, it took 1.5 years. While in there, I met dudes who have been in jail for weeks or months on misdemeanors, where they had already served the max penalty, because they couldn't pay their bail or they couldn't get in contact with someone to sign for them. The bail system makes absolutely zero sense and only serves to make poor people poorer or to unfairly punish them because they have no other option. At the very least, DAs and judges should agree to release people who have already served the max sentencing guidelines on misdemeanors before they go to court. It makes no sense for someone to get a first time failure to appear or possession, sit in jail for months because they can't make bail, and then get time served for the week or month they actually needed to serve.

22:00 What a monster. She's the CEO? Listening to that wench berate a guy that has NOT been convicted of a crime was painful. Missing an appointment with a bail bonds office doesn't mean you automatically are a criminal and don't deserve basic human respect. And at 21:40 she referenced some 'circle of love' BS.
Of course, some people in America will never understand this problem with bail bonds. Never mind that the rest of Western Civilization has figured it out and nearly all of the other countries have better crime statistics than we do in America. It is indeed about the money... the money lining the pockets of this immoral industry based on an immoral practice of placing an actual price tag on your freedom. NOBODY should be locked up before they are convicted without some pre-trial system evaluating whether or not they are a risk. Innocent until proven guilty. 'Poor' does not equal 'unworthy of freedom.'
Between the bail bonds industry and civil asset forfeiture, nobody in America can claim our system is not corrupt nor can they claim it is NOT specifically targeting poor people.

It doesn't excuse her absence of human decency and professionalism. Calling him names and cussing him out is simply not called for and doesn't accomplish anything productive whatsoever. Did he screw up? Yes. Is he a convict? NO. He still deserves respect until such time as he is convicted and even then he still has rights.
Wishing sodomy on someone, with her "I hope you bend over for the soap" comment, is simply disgusting and shows how poorly this woman conducts herself. Wishing harm upon someone is just immoral. He said he didn't show up because he went to court and they had changed the courtroom. She just dismissed that and wanted to hear herself condemn the man for his error, a behavior consistent with someone in love with their position of power over someone else.
Not everybody can easily navigate the screwed up bureaucratic mess that is our 'justice' system. If you have ever been in trouble with the law you would know the complex mess that suddenly consumes your life. A lot of people cannot handle it well or keep it all organized.
Having a drug problem doesn't make him worthless. And missing her little meeting to clear up a warrant when he said he DID go to court instead doesn't make him worthy of getting harmed in prison or having his bail revoked.
She asked him "why did you get arrested" as if being arrested means you are automatically guilty of a crime and thus makes him NOT a good citizen. That is ass-backwards especially given that drug enforcement laws necessarily result in the arrest of people that may not have done any harm to anyone but themselves. In any case, until he is convicted, he is presumed innocent. But she has completely reversed that ideal to support her presuppositions about him based on a procedural error. Her god-complex has gotten out of control and she seems to enjoy yelling like a lunatic because she feels so powerful.

It’s not the bail bondsman I have a problem with it is judges who set the amount of bail. Another factor is two people who commit the same crime and the bail amount is set to different terms, I have watch judges lower bails to someone they favor over another who they don’t like. Yet I thought judges are not to be bias. You make 90,000 a year your bail set for 5,000 and you make 30,000 a year your bail set for 100,000 thousand. Meanwhile poor pay more for the same crime as an upper middle class pay less. How is a poor person who can barely afford a flight ticket out of this country with a passport, more of a flight risk??? Meanwhile you work for the mayor office? Don’t drink and drive again. Here a slap on your wrist, I’m sure you got 300 dollars in your pocket to pay 5,000 dollar bail. Car title on the line, sign here and just come up with rest of the ten percent. Make sure you go to court.

Where i live they can only put you into Jail untill your court date for 4 Reasons. 1. you tried to flee 2. there is a flight risk 3. a risk of you destroying or supressing evidence 4. a risk of you commiting further serious offenses while out on the street.
The bar for those risks is set really high so usually only people who commited serious crimes have to stay in jail until court.

"If you don't commit crimes you don't have to worry about this" is a comment I'm seeing all over this video. Let me explain why you DO have to worry about it. If you are accused of doing a crime and found to be INNOCENT (that is the opposite of guilty for you less then 60volt bulbs) then you STILL HAVE TO PAY THE INTEREST ON THE BAIL OR SPEND MONTHS OF YOUR LIFE IN JAIL. How did that not come across in the video? Did you people even watch the video?

I live in Mansfield ohio. I got pulled over in 2009 and had a syringe in my car. I was a heroin addict at the time and it was mine. I went to jail and was let out on my signature. I moved back here in 2020 and had a friend who got pulled over for the same thing. I told his mom not to worry he'd be out in the morning. Come to find out times had surely changed. His bond was $10,000. He had to pay a bondsman $1000 to get out for drug paraphernalia. I was disgusted. His family is poor so he sat in jail for 2 months until he got probation and got out. During that 2 month he lost his job and got behind on child support so six months later he was back in jail for failure to pay child support. Thank you Mansfield ohio!

The last public income tax return of Trump (2016) he only paid $750 despite at the time being on the Forbes 500 list of richest people in America. So yes I have a problem when a "billionaire" pays less in yearly taxes than I do in a month! And I don't care if that person is Bezos, Musk, Gates, or Trump they should all pay their fair share or at least more than a person making less than 50k a year!!! And I could even give Trump a pass on before he was president and was merely a citizen abusing the system to avoid paying taxes but once he was president he only not didn't close those loopholes he made them much bigger to allow for the rich to avoid paying even those meager sums.

You are of course arrested and taken to jail. And now you are sitting in jail and now you worry about what’s gonna happen. Well if we’re in a different county you could make bail and you lose your job. Then you go to court and they find you not guilty and is set free. Well guess what no work no house. That is not entirely true. I was a bail bondsman for about 10 years, and I can tell you that it started in Europe and England in order to help ensure defendants would return to court for trial and to also bring in another source of income for the crown and local governments. Yes "bounty hunters" were used to capture and return escaped slaves, but those men were not in the same profession, technically, as a licensed bail bondsman. Do your due diligence before spouting nonsense like that, especially when you're trying to paint an entire profession as slave hunting racists.

I've spent 6 months in jail for driving without a license and then plead guilty just to get out because I was in a different state. I've had my license my hole life just didn't have it on me the day I got pulled over. Never been charged before. It's a fucking misdemeanor first off but they held me on property bond because I was a flight risk not being a resident of that state. When I went to court charges were supposed to be dropped but they had a copy of my Maine license not my NY one and it kept coming up no good. So I had a choice, spend 6 MORE months in jail waiting to go to court or plead guilty and get out. I plead guilty. That's how this system works and when I tell someone who's never been through it they don't believe me. I lost 6 months of my "freedom" for a fine! Have a driving without a license charge on my record forever and I've had my license since I was 16 years old! Never even one damn speeding ticket! In a way I'm glad it happened to me, I was living the "American dream" before that, now I'm wide awake!

In Latvia you dont need to carry with you driving license. You just need some kind of ID so that police can check your data when they stop you. Before that it was like 5 USD fine if you dont carry with you driverse license.

I totally agree with doing away with all bail in every state. It should be based on threat assessment as to if you get out of jail or not. I was arrested for my first time and given a $50,000 bond for a first offence. I couldn't even afford the 10% for the bond company, so I stayed in jail, lost my job and after 9 months, they dropped the charges. TOTAL B.S.

It is, if you're assessed to be a threat, you will not be allowed out on bail.

@@ChrisStavros Yes, but you still need to pay, which makes no sense if you haven't been sentenced. In fact, if we follow this twisted logic you should be paying to be in jail since jail is housing you, giving you food etc. Not get out since that's pretty much free.

Black People, this is why it is so crucial to take steps towards positive success within our lives and to never get caught up in a System that thrives off our very existence and strategically keeps some of us from getting out of an environment of a Modern Day Slave.
