Tangerine Travels next time you go to Mexico City, try to spend a Friday night at arena Mexico for the luchas. A night out in Plaza Garibaldi as well ( but stay in the square and don’t go to the bars.. they will say it’s free to get in and they will charge you for ‘entertainment’) besides the main square is where the real party is. Also, sooooo many places to go for a drink. Like the speak easy, hanky panky’ in zona rosa.
Hey u guys just to let u know that Mexico City was built in top of the lake that is why around centro histórico the buildings are leaning in another words are sinking
Mexico city is probably one of the most underrated big cities in the world. It has everything: european buildings, pyramids, parks, skyscrapers, big museums, etc
Yes, Mexico City is definitely one of the best!!!! I've gone 4 times and I still haven't seen everything on my list. There are too many things worth seeing several times.
I LOVE Mexico City! I went there last November for my birthday! And it so happened I was there during the weekend of Buen Fin - Mexico City’s version of “Black Friday” in the USA. I was in shopping heaven! I *almost* had to buy another suitcase to get everything home. 🤣 Mexico City is absolutely fabulous! I cannot wait to go back ... cuz I’m definitely going back! 😋 And I will mention... I went by myself, too... and even alone, I still had tons of fun! If you’re bored in Mexico City, you are not doing it right. 😋
In many ways it really is. It is so underrated. There is a feel/vibe to Mexico City which many big cities do not have and it's a really beautiful city in comparison to most big cities as well. @@miguel-h
@@mstyles2667 ive only been to tijuana and Ensenada but I would say all of mexico has a vibe, and its probably because 90% of the people are Mexican or from latin American country, so it has a cohesive vibe, which you don't get in America. If you go to most usa cities, its all one ethnicity or another. Miami is all latin, manhattan is largely white, other parts of nyc are black or asain or latin, san diego is everything, ,but walk across the border and its 95% latin American.
A beloved professor once told me that Mexico City was one of the great cities in the world. I took him at his word and now that I've visited twice, I'm absolutely sold! Don't miss the pyramids!
Mexico city is my top of the list place to visit! I'm excited to visit that city I feel like you can find everything in that city! It amazes me every time
Castillo de Chapultepec was built by Viceroy Bernardo de Galvez in colonial Mexico in late 1770s and 1780s. The castle is the only one occupied by the royalty in the Americas, in this case by Empereor Maximilian of Habsburg between 1861 and 1865 (You saw his little "car" in the museum, hehe). The castle is famous also for being the last bastion of Mexican military resistance in the American invasion of 1847, you know, the one after the U.S took states like California, Arizona, New Mexico, to name a few (quite surprised you missed the murals and war monuments) the battle is remembered cause of some kids of the Colegio Militar died resisting the Americans (mostly a myth). The castle was mostly used by the Military academy, or as a observatory, and as residence of Mexican presidents since late 19th century until the 1930s. After that it has been the National Museum of history, which is beautiful as hell. And yep, the whole ruins of Templo Mayor are totally original, discovered in the late '70s under colonial buildings.
"mostly a myth"... it's heavily romanticized, like calling them "kids" when they were just teenagers or young, (or Escutia's flag stunt, that one's totally a myth indeed), but it's not like it was a made up story, which is what sounds to me when I hear "mostly a myth". Also sadly many many many more of those "kids" defending it, ended up as POW and are unfairly heavily overlooked in history (specially Miramón, 15 y.o. when he fought in Chapultepec).
@@jagwolf8079 Well, I agree with most of what you said. The word "kids" is a out of context, I just thought it was easier to explain the battle using it. Second, the battle and it's characters are a very important subject to be remembered, by referring to a "myth", I mostly wanted to stress the way only six cadets names are always associated with the battle in a type of "mythological" status, in prejudice of the superior number of Mexican defendants, including, of course, Miguel Miramón. I think maybe "myth" was another word I used wrong, lol.
@@erickquezada6918 Not just Miramon was there in the Battle of Chapultepec, also Leandro Valle. Not only the future Conservadores defended Mexico, you know.
The treaty was signed giving the USA the territory by Santa ana, after Mexican army attacked and killed 16 soldiers, then the USA military in 2 steps conquered Mexico city. The stories written by the soldiers that could write home are surreal, the entire city of millions was empty. Santa Ana would have lost everything if not giving up the territory he could not control, Cherokee raids hit all the way in to Mexico anyways. Not saying all history leaves a great feeling when looked back at, I am glad Mexico is a country and not a Spanish territory, I have met some of the best people from Mexico. The 2 treaties Santa Ana signed netted him $25 million at that time and the country was torn from all the previous wars and needed money for an army to defend itself from the south.
I went there in January 2017 for a grad school trip (and to Cuernavaca). I completely fell in love with CDMX and think about it every single day. It is truly a wonderful city full of wonderful people. You just have to be smart and vigilant at all times, as you would any other city. Thank you for these videos from your trip there.
My wife and I really had fun traveling with you guys today. Always looking forward to the next adventure. Give Laska a big hug for us when you get back home! 😁🤟🐺
Awesome looking forward to seeing the other CDMX episodes. One place I hope you visit is Zihuatenejo. It was mentioned in the Shawshank redemption. It would be nice to see what you two think of it.
I used to live a few blocks away from Bellas Artes and the Zócalo back when I was in college. Seeing you walking down those streets brought back a lot of good memories. I don't know if smeone already mentioned it but the reason why the buildings at the Historical Center are leaning is not the earthquakes, not entirely. All that area used to be a lake and the Aztecs built the city on top of artificial islands, turning part of the lake into channels, similar to Venice or Amsterdam. Over time, as the city grew, the lake started drying out. But the ground under the city is still muddy and unstable and since the buildings are heavy and old, they started sinking. And they don't sink evenly, so they lean. You can feel it if you go inside some of those buildings.
I'm currently in China and having traveled in other countries just makes me want to explore more of my own. I have also met people from different places around the world and I see that westerners are more open minded and with a disposition to know other cultures, as I know other latinos, I feel like we all are genuinely welcoming of other cultures, contrary to the asian and Arabic cultures. I like that foreigners make videos in their native languages so other foreigners can appreciate and maybe visit my country in the future.
If you are still in Mexico City, try to visit "Sanborns de los Azulejos" which is a massive coffee shop and store built from a fantastic palace covered entirely in beautiful tiles, yes tiles and I know you love them. The location is on Madero very close to Bellas Artes--you must have just missed it. Keep up the good work kids!
Sanborns is probably the worst place to go eat, I think is owned by Carlos Slim. Last year I went to sanborns as soon we got in I felt like they send us a bodyguard it was a very uncomfortable experience he was like watching us the whole time. This happened in Guadalajara, I dont know in Mexico City, but aftet that experience never again.

Solrac C Sanborns is a chain. A little silly to say that because you had a bad experience at one in GDL you wouldn't visit the historic one in CDMX, don't you think? The one in Mexico City is gorgeous. 😍

I was in Mexico city in 2014. So much history, art, fabulous places to see. I estimate that you need about year's time to explore most of Mexico City itself.
Love you guys enjoying the beauty of our beloved Mexico City and Laska stole the show with the Tail bell sound thanks safe travels cheers from Vallarta Jalisco
Wonderful video, as always!! Our guide in Monte Alban told us that you can tell if ruins are reconstructed because archaeologists add in small rocks among the big. If that holds true everywhere, from what I could see in the video it looks like those ruins are original constructions.
Chapultepec Castle was home of Maximiliano I and Carlota, emperors of the Glorious second Mexican Empire. The emperor Maximilian also build Paseo de la Reforma avenue.
I love Mexico City! The Palace of Fine Arts is a great place to visit, with its huge Tiffany curtain! Gorgeous! But I agree about the Metro. Good place to be pickpocketed.

i love you guys so much for taking me on amazing tours all over mexico i feel so freaking enriched after your vids and like my travel bug got scratched. and you guys are such nice real people. no glamour although you are both perfectly attractive, so frank so direct and thinking about your final product and how to make it something your viewers will really apppriciate, will really love, will really want to go to live someday when my ship comes in. all my love. i have learned so much about mexico from you in a fun way. my god i love youtube so much. no body deserves to gain from youtube as much as you two you both give so much
A fact about the Mexican flag in Constitution Square, and Mars camp(Campo Marte), are in the military industry, the fabric they use are the same one used to elaborate the parachute 's soldiers, treat it to resist the weather, rain, acid rain, sun and uv ray, and the eagle and the snake are painted by hand.
I've seen many of your videos but your CDMX videos are by far and large your very best! Cdmx has a quality that is unique and so great that is probably the best in the world for shooting video.
Hello guys, thanks for your video, I went to Mexico City long, long time ago and you just made my memory go back on time, I actually visited the same places ,but what I most liked this time was the TORTA CON CHILAQUILES made my mouth watering, I will try to make one by myself, tank's once again and take care.
Mexico City looks incredible and I am so glad that you went there. I have always been uninterested in MC because of the air pollution, the crowds I heard about and oh yes even the earthquakes. This video made me really change my mind and want to see it now. Thank you so much.
Laska gonged the bell! How adorable she is! Too many people in Mexico City. Scares me looking at the 360 degree view. It's just crazy big. I'm glad you had fun. We live 35 minutes West of Chicago and haven't been to Chicago in years. lmao. I'm claustrophobic. Peace.
i like a lot this vid, am mexican but am living at bay are since about 17 years, so was beautiful to see my hometown before here USA CA, I had the experience to know different countries like Argentina, Spain etc and all the places have something unique even here US, there are amazing cities of different states that are wonderful, but when it comes to your original land we feel some nostalgy remembering the student times etc etc, thanks you gays for your time to show as the great CDMX.
I spent almost a month in Mexico City 2022 in December and I highly recommend it; it’s beautiful never seen anything like it before. I wanna move there now.
Hi. I'm very glad you're finally here in Mexico City. Templo Mayor has some degree of restoration to preserve the structures and original colors, but no reconstruction at all. It was "discovered" in 1978, and back then it was decided to preserve the archeological ruin conditions.
i know your exploring and giving your perspective but pick up a history book so that everything isnt ohh that looks cool.... there is an amazing depth of history in Mexico... it would make your travels that much more exciting ..... visiting NYC would not have been as amazing for me if i didnt know the history...
I so love people watching through your lens, I’ve always loved watching the real people of different areas and cultures wandering around living their lives, I guess that’s my introvert showing? 🤷♀️😬
Hi guys, Thank you again for another GREAT video. I was there the first week of June 2019 and I was there in January also. Found a dentist in Cancun got my teeth worked on it was great have a great experience
After the great Tenochtitlan was conquered by the Spanish exploration army on August 13th 1521, one of the first thing they do was demolishing many of Aztec’s major buildings as the Templo Mayor, the biggest and most important ceremonial building ( expanded al most 7 times to make it bigger), and used many of the materials to build the first version of the cathedral (It took more than 400 years to get finished, that’s the reason because it have many architectural styles, each major constructor had his own vision about it), then was constructed with different stones and materials of places near the New Spain. The Templo Mayor Museum, was made by Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, one of the most important Architects that Mexico had in its history, the museum have an interesting form similar to the snail shell with labyrinthine roads to make sure each part of the museum could be visited without lose any exposure. Ramirez Vazquez was also the architect behind the National Anthropology Museum, the new Basílica de Guadalupe, the Aztec stadium, the historic center remodulation, programmed and directed the XIX Olympic Games in Mexico City. The Castillo de Chapultepec was built to be the virrey’s Mascaró summer house around mid 1700, then was converted in the military college in 1833. In 1864 was taken by the emperors Maximiliano and Carlota and the name was changed in to Castillo de Miravalle. After the civil war(Mexican revolution) ended in 1922 when Mexico became a democratic country, the Castillo became the presidential home, more than 10 presidents and their families lived there until 1939, when the president Cardenas decided moved in to los pinos estate. Recently our new president change the presidential home in to the Palacio Nacional, next to the zócalo square. Cheers guys I really enjoy watching your videos
Thanks so much for the positive aspect of this video, Mexico City is a great place -- and it's the friendliest and safest city of 20 million people in the world. If you're interested in learning yet more about other issues in Mexico, check out 'La Casa de los Amigos' near Revolution Square. And drink a few 'atolés' for me (a morning drink), and eat a few morning tamales and then eat a few evening tamales for me too. The street food is beyond amazing, along with the 'tianguis' food.
Awesome video guys. I'm glad you went to Mexico City. I was there back in 1997 and loved it. And you are right about not taking your dog. I work for the airlines and trust me, it's not at all pleasant for the poor animals. It's loud, hot, and a very scary place for them. Take care. Que disfruten su estancia en el D.F.
@2:03 fun fact: the Zócalo plaza used to be laid out much like the plaza of all Mexican towns with gardens and everything. Curiously it never had a Quisco in the middle. However this was dismantled after the revolution and was left as a plain open area for events. The name zocalo means base, and it refers to the base of a statue of the Spanish king that used to be in the plaza. After independence the statue was knocked down and only the base (zócalo) of the statue remained for many years. Eventually people just started referring to the entire plaza as "El Zócalo."
The pollution wasn't noticeable when we were there, thankfully! However, I think we got lucky because it was bad a couple of weeks before we got there and it got bad again after we left.
I'm an architecture student an that Hotel is one of the most emblematic buildings of the modern movement in Mexico, from the architect Legorreta. You neeeeeeeeeed a chillango guide next time you come over haha.
Hi guys, I'm happy you're here in my city. I hope you plan to visit Coyoacán. I you like forest I sugest you to visit Parque San Nicolás Totolapan (Ajusco) at the very south of the big city and you can also take your beatiful dog to enjoy the forest.
If you ever come back to Mexico City I think it would be good if you experiment it like a regular citizen, instead of a tourist, Mexico City has so many different sides to it, it's amazing.
Camino Real: Designed by Architect Ricardo Legorreta. All his buildings to me are the most beautiful in Mexico. His work basically became a stamp of Mexican style architecture in the 20th century (only following and expanding on Luis Barragan work which defined the style). That hotel was inaugurated for the Olympic Games in 1968. Even the furniture has been kept as it was designed and the rooms are beautiful too. When you come back you should visit the National Center for the Arts (CN or Centro Nacional de las Artes) which he designed too. I feel I'm in a parallel universe when I visit his work.
I am glad you went to Mexico City. You are correct that Mexico’s capital is built on top of another city. It was built on top of the Aztec capital. What you might not know is that Mexico City used to be mostly a lake and many buildings are sinking and that is why they are sinking. Castillo de Chapultepec was Maximillian’s castle. He was the first (and only) emperor of Mexico. It is also where the United States invaded Mexico and where the ninos heroes died. El Camino Real was built in the 60s to help host dignitaries for the 1968 olympics. Gorditas by the way are not from Mexico City, they are from Guadalajara, but there is lots of other food that is chilango like tortas(al cubano is my favorite), tacos al pastor, and chilaquiles.
Jordan's Spanish is really coming along. I'm impressed. Only way to really learn a language requires doing. Wife & I loved DF. I would return in a heartbeat. It's one of the world's amazing capital city. PS: Where's Laska? I miss Laska.
We hope you liked this video as much as we did - it was a lot of fun making it! We have at least 2 more Mexico City videos coming for you soon, so stay tuned. 🙂

Tangerinos estoy enamorado de sus videos ! Gracias por visitar mi país, mucho éxito !

Love Chapultepec castle. Gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing. I love and miss DF.
Is not DF no more know its call CDMX which stands for Ciudad de Mexico.
Awesome vid guys😎 we love mexico city...☺️ castillo de Chapultepec🦗 super cool😊
I was just there last Monday. Great place. Love Mexico City. Don’t forget to visit the Pyramids. Cheers guys!!!
I spent almost a month in Mexico City 2022 in December and I highly recommend it; it’s beautiful never seen anything like it before. I wanna move there now.
Welcome! I'm so happy that you are finally visiting us and liking it. Enjoy!
Great Video guys, Loved it!

Very fun video!!, great to see you guys finally are exploring the queen of the cities! MX city 👑💖
Cdmx my hometown.i.miss you and i love you😎🇲🇽🇲🇽
Lol, pasaguero used to be an edgie alternative concert hall some 10 years ago. Great video.
Oh, no kidding? In that same building?
i luv how they bag each bread, wow such a beautiful bread shop and i know that smell i miss it so much...
Definitivo la panadería está en mi lista✅😂😱
Massive Mexico City! Thank you!
Fun as always! Cute couple you had with you. Thank you all. :)
This video was awesome, and I'm glad Laska's ear is healed up! I love your videos, keep them coming.
Her ear did heal up nicely. She's still missing a little chunk of her ear but because of her fur it's not too noticeable.
Another great vid you two!!
Thank you!
Hi guys,
Thank you again for another GREAT video.
I was there the first week of June 2019 and I was there in January also. Found a dentist in Cancun got my teeth worked on it was great have a great experience
How you missed Mexico City Cathedral? Thats truly the best building in Centro Histórico.
Great channel. One of best. I wish i could find the video where you covered travel visa options, and tips on residing in mexico.
I love you guys! Great video as always.
Thanks so much Arturo! 🧡
Good video, facinating hearing you comments and seeing your reactions to one of tge worlds mega cities.
My wife and I hit the same places you guys did when we were there in May. Great video!
Looking forward to the other Mexico City videos! Thank you!
Great video. And no air pollution!! Awesome!
The pollution wasn't noticeable when we were there, thankfully! However, I think we got lucky because it was bad a couple of weeks before we got there and it got bad again after we left.
How exciting! I can imagine the fresh bread 🥖 aromas! 😋
You guys better go to Teotihuacan
Get there early
We've been there in the past. If I remember right, we put that briefly in this video: ua-cam.com/video/swi2l2xhEoM/v-deo.html
Tangerine Travels that’s not Teotihuacan
That’s Cholula
@@sfdko3291 Did you watch the whole thing? It's Cholula and a bit of our visit to Teotihuacan, right?
Pasagüero!! Muchos recuerdos de mi ciudad! Saludos
Thanks again friends. I really enjoyed this one.
I'm an architecture student an that Hotel is one of the most emblematic buildings of the modern movement in Mexico, from the architect Legorreta. You neeeeeeeeeed a chillango guide next time you come over haha.
I’m Mexican and I love our capital❤️❤️ 🇲🇽
Hi guys, I'm happy you're here in my city. I hope you plan to visit Coyoacán. I you like forest I sugest you to visit Parque San Nicolás Totolapan (Ajusco) at the very south of the big city and you can also take your beatiful dog to enjoy the forest.
Thank you for the information about this park! We are moving to CDMX next week with our two dogs. I bet they will love it.
If you ever come back to Mexico City I think it would be good if you experiment it like a regular citizen, instead of a tourist, Mexico City has so many different sides to it, it's amazing.
Love the video, love your journey and mingling with fellow . Love the Camino Real and its amazing architecture: Legorreta was an amazing architect!
PS:
Where's Laska? I miss Laska.
Thanks for the compliment! Also, Laska is in this video ;)
pilozm, Mexico has been trying really hard to get rid of the DF designation. They now call it CDMX on everything.
Madi eating a giant Gordita! LOL!!! Great video, Mexico city is so beautiful! I love Mexico and can't wait to go back!
