Also, definitely be aware of the "bait and switch" routine. They were selling water showing CIEL (a name brand and relatively expensive) for really cheap - In fact, my own "Spidey-senses" should have gone off, and alas, after we paid, they gave us "Agua de Don Juán de la Mancha de Tap Water". IT wasn't bad, but it wasn't what was advertised, so again, especially in Mexico, "Caveat Emptor"

The Museum of Anthropology is not to be missed. There's nothing like it in the world. Leave the better part of a day for it. México City has more museums than any city outside of London. And many are quite interesting! Street tacos can be some of the best. Just look for the crowds. Also, don't miss the Zócalo and histórico centro. 👌🏼 Enjoy!

Local here. The Metro is usually VERY crowded, most pickpockets take advantage of that, specially when people get out of the trains on an station, just have your bag where you can see it, usually stay on the corners of the train so you can watch peoples movements and bring a jacket or something similar with internal pockets, it's better to keep your important stuff there.

You might enjoy cafe de la parroquia two blocks from the zocalo (on Republica de Brasil). Order a cafe lechero, and the waitor will pour the milk into a small glass from a meter up without spilling a drop. I always go there when I'm in CDMX.

Before watching your videolog on Mexico I had visions of Mexico as a uncivilized country, overwhelmed by crime, dirt, murderers, thieves and scam artists. Low and behold, I have been pleasantly surprised by how civilized the country really is - so much so that it's now on my list of places to retire.
