I just love that final shot of the slave watching Django ride away in awe and nodding, as if he finally saw that freedom WAS attainable.

    • @HeyitsTom999
      @HeyitsTom999 4 роки тому +47

      @@AndyFriday And also, by not explicitly helping the other slaves, he shows them that freedom is something they have to achieve and experience on their own terms. It's a polar opposite to how Dr Schultz behaved when he freed Django, and I think that's a deliberate choice in the writing.
      Schultz obviously cared for Django and wanted to help free Brumhilde, but he did this by treating Django a bit like a child or a student. Telling him what to do and how to do it because he was sure he knew better. But you could argue that his complicated plan just ended up putting them all in greater danger. Django was much more successful when he was free to make his own decisions. He still went by what he'd learned from Schultz but he took it in his own direction.
      And I kinda think that by not helping or even really acknowledging these slaves, he's telling them that they can go in their own directon too. And they'll be free-er, or something, because their initial decision to be free was their own.

      bob stone Interestin fact, Tarantino's mom had a black boyfriend while he was growing him. He introduced Quentin to Blaxploitation films of the 70s, and would take him to the cinema every weekend. He does use the N word in film a lot, but I think a lot of people grant him a pass, because he truly loves the culture, and that's what he heard growing up.

      Fun fact, when filming this Dicaprio even admitted he felt wrong being so racist and dropping "Hard Rs" until Samuel Jackson basically cornered him and went "Motherfucker this is TUESDAY for us, just roll with it" more or less.

    The acting by one of the slaves is top notch. This showed all the emotions from envy to now being inspired by Django without saying words.

    I can’t believe that Quentin Tarantino actually blew up and died for this part of the movie, such dedication on his part

    For anyone who didn’t notice, the guy in the blue shirt with the wide hat, Michael Parks, was also the sheriff who gets shot by Quentin in the opening of From Dusk Till Dawn, I think he was in Death Proof and a few others. RIP 💯

    The theatrics are so awesome. How the rustling of the dynamite was intensified so smoothly but exaggerated. He is very good at what he does, who he casts and just seemingly every aspect of it.

    I love how he doesnt do a generic gunspin after the smoke clears. He isnt a showboat but rather a lethal ranger.

    I can see QT writing this scene: "I'll blow my own ugly ass up, my fans'll LOVE it!"
