Betty White was so cute and so genuine...and so in love with Allen Ludden. RIP Betty & Allen.
They were an example of how two people need to like and sincerely enjoy one another's company, in addition to having the "dizzy, dancing way you feel" in order to keep a marriage fresh and loving.
Betty White always a pleasure to watch on any game show and Arlene Francis, good God almighty, such beauty and class. ❤️. RIP to the entire panel, host, and announcer
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
My dad -- Lee Vines -- was the announcer. Many thanks for remembering him!
I love Arlene Francis so much! I wish she had been my grandma! We would have had so much fun!
She was so wonderful on “What’s My Line”!
It's funny to see Betty complain about her age when she was in her 40s,I don't think she ever thought she'd be almost 100
She was 43.
Lmaooo my thoughts exactly. It’s like me complaining about feeling old even tho I’m in my 20s. All about perspective
Considering her partner was the lovely Arlene Francis who was 15 years older. she too lived a great age, until 94 I believe.
Betty white looks gorgeous looking in the 1960s:brilliant comedian actress
@@lloydkline1518 Indeed her comedic timing & fabulous facial expressions are priceless.
Betty will never be gone thanks to recorded memories like this & she will live on in many hearts too.
Betty & Arlene Two of the BEST GAME SHOW Players EVER!!!!!!!!
you have to watch CAROL BURNETT! sooooo funny!
the 2nd pair of guys are playing "Synonyms". not "Password"
even with Allen's hint to "add 'em up" halfway thru
Two of my favorites, Betty and Arlene. Classy and beautiful ... and so funny!!
Betty and Arlene… what a treat!
19:30 love the sly grins and chuckles at the word "joint" and Betty's comment "That's enough, Francis."
Oh, dear, I'm slow ~ I thought of a bar, or beer garden, but they're things people sometime smoke!
betty's smile is so enchanting
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Betty White really knew how to work those dimples, didn't she? And it was always clear what a _tremendous_ brain she had stashed behind those china-blue eyes.
Rest In Peace Betty White. You will be missed!
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Betty was adorable, and arlenes voice was beautifully hypnotic
This game is so good. I'm new to What's my line, thanks to UA-cam and Arlene has an "IT" factor, she's so classy and has a beautiful smile. Betty White and her husband seem so equally yoked, both so kind, in love and grounded.
Those two special ladies. Both so bright, charming & humorous.
Betty had those little zingers that I just loved. She was so funny and so smart!
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Very smart and charming
It's great to see these old episodes. R.I.P Betty White, you are a legend
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
When Carson was in NYC, I used to see Al Capp on his show fairly regularly. He used to make Johnny laugh. I liked him. I like Betty better as a blonde.
Miss her and him.Their humor together is priceless. Her death hit me unexpectedly hard.
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
So true, still true. 😢
I watched this, and I watched Hot in Cleveland! Miss Betty a lot!!!
Watch The Golden Girls if you haven't
@@ML-gk5eg Who HASN'T seen the Golden Girls?
I watched one episode of "Hot in Cleveland," and even though the title alone told me not to watch, I did, and that was enough for me (too much SWEARING in it for me)!
(there was in the Golden Girls too, but that came out a long time ago, and I've grown alot as a Christian since then) I won't even watch that NOW.
I remember that game. Those people were so smart back then.
These two cartoonists (the first two) are obviously not listening to previous clues. Always a joy to see Betty and Arlene. Two sharp gals! The second two cartoonists are as sharp as a razor. Wow, Mort.
It's actually the second pair of cartoonists (Allen Saunders and Lee Falk) who were not listening (especially on "tattoo").
I really enjoyed Arlene Francis as well. This is my first introduction to her and she is as on the ball as our adored Betty. It slayed me when Betty said, "That always confuses me" in response to the clue marriage.
I love how they flirt back & forth. You don't see what they had everyday. I don't tear up easily but these two are one of about three them included that make me wanna tear up.
Great episode. It's very unusual to see footage of classic cartoonists like Lee Falk or Al capp.
Two charming , sweet ladies , White and Francis . I guess one reason among many they lived long lives .
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Great episode, Betty and Arlene together!
That's pretty much what I said
Boring.
Can’t get much better than that.
"communities........straight" it was another time
I express thanks for sharing the many episodes here, what I enjoy of Password is that being educated on many words is helpful. I hope the episode involving Dorothy Kilgallen and Darren McGavin can be shared soon.
Dorothy was on ? They're still trying to silence her, those bastards !
Why did you trademark
RareEnema?
That art exhibition by the famous cartoonists sounds like it would have been something to see! 🧑🎨
2:25 Betty White: "Only you and my doctor know how hard it is to learn to dance at my age."
Girl, you're going to be dancing for quite awhile :)
I was hoping I'd get to see a game show with Betty and Arlene both
They crossed paths on quite a few game shows, actually! Betty made several appearances as a guest panelist on What's My Line (where Arlene was a regular), and Arlene made several appearances as a guest panelist on the 70s Match Game (where Betty was a semi-regular).
REST IN POWER BETTY WHITE! 1922-2021
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
It's Sept. 2024 and I am proud of theses actors for knowing the meaning of grace and dignity as well as sarcasm. Bring those things back!
Arlene Francis was one classy lady.
I absolutely adore her.
I have certainly enjoyed the episodes with her on them also !! 🦉
She and Betty both. Two Faves.
She lived to be 93. I think she died in 2001. Arlene was born in 1907.
I have certainly loved her Password episodes !! I remember her from some programs when I was a kid. But it is fun to be reminded of those times. Blessings from California. 🥂🍾
RIP Betty Marion White Ludden (1922-2021)
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Betty slapping the hand gestures of Arlene 😆
My God what a wholesome show.
Refreshing, huh?
It was a wonderful time to grow up! What's My Line is good too!
He's my God too!
One thing annoys me no end - when a player quickly answers with NO reference to previous clues. The second batch of cartoonists in particular. "Needle" "Thread' answered INSTANTLY with no consideration of words that went before picture-sailor- etc. It starts at 10:30 and the two cartoonists act like they are playing free association with a psychiatrist.
I know! So frustrating, but I was howling with laughter. You could tell that when Betty said 'sugar and...' that Allen let it slide because her partner (bless him!) was so awful.
Right, they had already had drawing, sailor, skin, parlor… !?!?!!
@@leeweatherly7659 He let it slide because she was his wife. Just like "cartoonist".
Allen must have been a bit nervous during this one. Not that he showed it at all, but Betty and Arlene both have such a naughty sense of humor, no telling what might be said!
Also would have been cool to see the cartoonists exhibit they were discussing. Pop Art was such a revolution at the time...Warhol, Lichtenstein etc who were so greatly influenced by the comic strips of the day.
Love how they always plug the World Book Encyclopedia, that staple of American suburbs in the fifties and sixties. maybe it's popularity due to Password? Was looking at a set just a few days ago in a university library. It's still great, total absence of academic jargon, kept reading
it for a few hours. .
It was a staple in houses a lot longer than two decades. The internet destroyed it (like it did a lot of things).
Wish I had a set of them. I loved using them in the library back in the day.
@@lynnturman8157 Agree.
It was also a staple for some of us in the hood as well. 🤷🏽♀️
It was also a staple in the seventies (cranberry-colored covers)!
Betty White vs Arlene Francis? Well! THIS might be good!
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Now they're together again. RIP Betty
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
2 of my favs, Betty and Arlene...Betty is now 99....
❤ Betty white: brilliant comedian
Older than that. I think she is 99.
@@m.e.d.7997 That's what I said......99
@@bettycogswell9851 Yep. I misread it.
Yes, love Betty!!! She was cheated out of a long happy marriage… ❤️🙏🙏
22:23 Mr. Ludden & Miss Francis's exchange concluding with his remark, "Oh, it's that kind'a play!"
23:16 "Ready, Betty?!"
You could tell Betty truly loved to play PASSWORD
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
The second group of cartoonists were HOPELESS!! 😂😂😂😂
I remember reading all of those cartoons, I loved the Phantom
Great to see great comics artists for the first time !!!! Thanks for the video
Betty White passed away today on New Years Eve, December 31st 2021 just seventeen days before her 100th birthday.
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Her passing brought me here 😭
Love Betty and Arlene. Funny how neither cartoonist got tattoo after such obvious clues.
Couldn't BELIEVE that no one said SKIN. Or ART after someone said skin!!
The amount of words in this game which were okay then but pretty dirty today is funny
Mort and Leonard were excellent players.
*R.I.P. BETTY WHITE !!! YOU WILL BE MISSED!!!! ☹*
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
Betty calling herself old when she would live another half century
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
If anyone does not catch the joke. The reason Betty was cut off during her joke about the name Allen is because the Host of the show is Allen Ludden and also her husband. She was a frequent guest on the show.
The women all had beautiful hairstyles back then! 🙂
In the middle of the space age, the googie architecture is so cool
My favorite!
Did she just predicted future, Spice girls?
No. Girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. That is an old saying.
I wish they would have let contestants trade partners for a 2nd round. Would have given each person an equal chance to win💲
I forgot how much fun this game is.
I remember reading those cartoons
I love the cartoonist theme; there were some real heavy hitters back in the day....
Would love to see an anthology of these old comic strips.
I thought with that hairdo it was Dear Abby 😅
tattoo was hilarious LOL
Did Betty actually say "shit" when she accidentally said "cartoonist"? Check the tape.
Betty. Gotta love her.
I noticed that, too! It sure looks like it.
❤ Betty white: brilliant comedian actress and gorgeous looking woman
@@keithhyttinen8275Betty white so pretty in the 1960s
Hahaha...she did!!
Alfred, Al, and Allen.
Betty is gorgeous
🦋 🎂 🐕🦺
I LOVE Betty White and Arlene Francis together!
(was What's My Line" on at this time? The announcer didn't say she was from "What's My Line").
Betty is so witty ans sharp
When betty white said "and my husband allen ludden password..." she was going through an mk ultra glitch
Mandrake the magician...wow...
It's hilarious that she goes "Oh Shit" when she says cartoonist.
Haha, I love Betty White, but must laugh at that "Dear Abby/Ann Landers" hair-do of that era. Enough hair spray to lacquer the Empire State Bldg!
Betty was a little sneaky when she gave the clue “sugar ‘n” (and he said spice) while winking at the judge off camera.
Her dimple.
I remember when the theme music changed.
That's sad the two gentlemen don't put all the clues together on the word "tattoo." Just answering the clue given to them at the time. That's not how the game is played!
Allen's nickname should have been "5 seconds."
I keep thinking how quickly they would have gotten tattoo today
thesilentdiva Our cartoonist friends were a bit dense. The ladies should have tried “ink”.
Agreed. I’ll never understand tattoos.
@@leesher1845 True Lee, where do people get the time let alone the money for them, they're definately not cheap.I suppose it's a part of this 'look at me' world we live in.
@@Skip-sy2th I have 8 and I'm def not a look me type of person. The price depends on how much time they spend on it, wether they're big or small, so some can be cheap.
May 20 1965
For a delightful tale about Al Capp listen to Conan O’Brien’s podcast featuring Goldie Hawn.
Can't believe that nobody used the clue ink for tattoo
Or permanent 😉
Back in that time, very few had the knowledge that ink was used in tattoos. Very few people even had tattoos.
@@Oceangirl_505 that's true, some of us STILL don't have any tatts, myself included
@@donaldleroy6502 - I'm with you on this. Frankly, I've never understood the appeal. Did you watch Password growing up too?
@@Oceangirl_505 no, I'd never heard of the show until a couple of years ago when I discovered the buzzr network, I was only two years old when this particular rendition was on, thanks for the reply, goodnight and God bless
INK
I cant believe how long it took them to do tattoo lol
Trying to explain what a tattoo is in 1965, forget it lol
Nothing much ever seemed to happen in Mary Worth.
Was there a mix-up on the word shown on screen and the word the participants got? At 9:31, we see 'Cork' as the password, but the correct answer is given as 'Barton'.
Also: Wow, the cartoonists during the 'Tattoo' password were completely clueless. They were paying no attention to the other clues being said.
He's got a strong accent, but he does actually say "cork" there
TATTOO hurt to watch
No kidding. Those cartoonists were completely dense and not even listening to the other clues being said.
Why are you using exactly the same words show after show?
That time when Betty White predicted Spice Girls in 1965.
gotta live with her...lol lol ...yes i do....lol lol
Betty White spoiled the game, they handpicked the word cartoonist just for these comic strip artists and Betty White spoiled it by blurting it out at 19:44
The creators of this show must have had only so many word cards made up, much like the home version of the game. If you watch enough Password shows, you will see that the same words keep cropping up.
Yep. A tad lazy.
One would think that being associated with the World Book Encyclopaedias the creators would have plenty of words
Our family thoroughly enjoyed playing the home version. My Mom made additional cards to add to the game.
@@Oceangirl_505 We also had the home game of Password ! That is sweet that your mom put in extra words ! Blessings from California. 🦉
she said "Indian" and no one died of heart attack! what a time
Did no one notice that Arlene was a full head taller than many of her partners? Lower that chair production staff!
Didn’t Betty say sugar “and”?
Today Tattoo wouldn't be a strange word
A trivial question, but......why is Arlene sitting so high?
I know. I wonder if she hurt her leg? She was known to be accident-prone. Or she hurt her back. She seems a little stiff at times. Either way doubt we will ever know.
Maybe she's just tall.
@@sherrybirchall8677 she was 5ft.5 1/2 or 166cm
maybe she had a pillow
Posture was queen back in the day.
I thought she looked taller here than on What's My Line but figured she may have been taller than Betty.
I think Betty’s hairspray is failing
She looks a bit like Olympia Dukakis. From Steel Magnolias.
