    Considering I have long natural nails under my hard gel, and i saved my friend's bitten nails with polygel...the answer is YES for me 🙂

  • @joelledhollander975

    I always grow my nails long this way. I don't take away all the product (unless it's necessary in case of lifting) and do my infill. My natural nails are under my polygel.

    I grew out my nails with extensions. They are now natural with an overlay, and if they break I will add an extension until it gets long and natural again 😁

    • @nichelleisaacs8253
      @nichelleisaacs8253 3 роки тому +1

      Sam quick question, how many hard gel fills did you apply when you were wearing the extension?

    • @samdagostino8730
      @samdagostino8730 3 роки тому +2

      @@nichelleisaacs8253 I only use soft gels. I use apres gel-x extensions and fill with a soft builder gel. I usually file off color and fill the gel overlay or extensions. I don't soak off unless there is a lot of lifting. I'm unsure if I've answered your question, so let me know if you have any more!

    They told me using gel or the dip powder would help my nails grow. I went for 2 months straight and omg every time they removed the old product they efile’d my nail more and more. Eventually it was paper thin! I could legit bend it. The last time I got my nails done, if I accidentally knocked my nail into something a big chunk would break off ☹️ so now I’ve been learning to do them myself 💅🏼

      honey1harmony: It’s so true, some salons/techs are so focussed on speed and profit that they neglect safe removal techniques. I’ve found gel protects, and helps my thin nails to grow, which they just can’t do on their own. I hope you enjoy your nail art hobby as much as I do!

    Can you please teach us how to do that beautiful oval shape. I see it in Russian manicures all the time but here in the US everywhere I go, they just can't get that shape down for me at all. They end up doing a fat, ugly almond that look almost stilleto and I just keep changing locations. Now I want to do my own nails at home (well we have to now but it's less expensive anyways because I'm a student). I'm trying to learn a lot about overlay to help my nails grow. I have dip powder overlay and do gel topcoat for now. Maybe I'll learn new overlays that are better like hard gel thats more common in Russia I think. Soft gel lifts so much and my nail still breaks. Please show us how to make that beautiful nail shape!!! Thank you 😊

    • @brooklynsbaby4367
      @brooklynsbaby4367 4 роки тому +3

      In my opinion this shape is much more flattering to the hand and nails, especially if the nails aren't very long, the pointed almonds just make the cuticle area look wide and the whole nail ends up looking stubby, unless it's a good lenght. If you have a good handfile it should be easy to do it, just play around a little

    • @MissHawes0187

      Maybe try doing a coffin and rounding the edges? And also try polygel it worked great to grow my nails. I found a Russian immigrant that drives a taxi and her nails were beautiful so I asked her if she knew any Russian nails techs here in my area(spokane wa 🇺🇸)
      And she says yes...me!! Lol 😆 🤣
      Even though we have a huge language barrier we communicate through pics and smiles. She had a shop in the back of her house and I feel so special bc I'm the only person who's not Russian that gets service. She does an amazing job but it take 3 hours!!!! I call it cuticle extermination.
      Anyway look around for some Russians in your area and you will find someone who does nails but can't get certified here in the states and so they do them super cheap...like I pay 60$ and they are worth 120

    • @tsuraangel1980
      @tsuraangel1980 4 роки тому +30

      Like Dory said, yeah you have to either leave a thin layer behind, or file the product down to that thin amount then soak off the rest so it doesn't damage your natural nail. I grow my natural nails and have done so for a few years. I personal file down the product till I can look down the length of my nail (from the tip looking down to the cuticle), and barely be able to see any remaining product and THEN I will soak off the rest, or add fresh product over it.

    when I started, my nails were very thin and brittle, but ever since I switched to high quality primers (non acidic!!!) and bonders they have recovered and are now so strong, a thin layer of overlay gel is all I need. my recommendation: spend a bit more money and get good quality products. ( I use the non acidic primer from cnd and an OPI base coat).

    But how you do an extension filling without removing the natural nail underneath? I understand that without filing the nail will grow and disconnect from the material, so how can I grow them longer if I need to file them with any gel filling?

    I’m so upset :( I ordered from ROSSI their polygel Elite kit back in the middle of March but they had to cancel my order due to the current situation. Ive been watching all your videos recently to make sure that I can do it perfectly when I get them :(
    I guess for now I’ll just have to keep re-watching your videos again and again haha

    I wish I could have long nails. I’m lucky tho cuz I was exposed to violin at a young age so I keep them extremely short and gross but…I also have a passion for filing and painting nails and I make polygel glue ons lol. For like occasions and such. I’m always looking for a shape that I can be able to work around. But it doesn’t usually work out

    Why do you put the non-acid primer just on the free edge?

    I would love to grow my own nails instead of using tips. But my nails grows weak and it curves smh which I really don't like. How do I prevent the nails from curving when they grow? Especially when I'm using the gel extensions.

      My nails curve hardcore when I let them grow out naturally, so my tech has me wear straight tips while they’re in the beginning of growing out. By the time they’ve grown out and are ready to take off they’re much straighter!

    I have seriously fragile and brittle nails and all my life couldn't enjoy feeling feminine with long nails because they bend and break. I'm looking for last ditch alternatives like this method but idk the cost.

      Yes it is! But will take quite while. Also depends on the structure of your finger - is there is some space for nail bed to grow - it may grow longer.
      My nail bed was way shorter before I was doing nails (16 years ago), but once I started doing extensions or overlays it grew during these years.
      You should always have at least medium length so the hyponychium may start growing under the nail
