it's nice to see a peak back ok the mainline after about 35 years have they only just realised there is a demand for them! A peak and a thunder-bird nice video 🥰
Hi my name is Phil i worked on these when I was on the footplate I started at Edgeley in 1961 i then spent two years at Trafford Park I did 50 years on the footplate I finished in 2011 . Regards Phil.
A blast from the past. It's as long ago as 1982 that the 45/1s were top link express locos on all midland mainline services, before being relegated to secondary services and transpennine for a few years when the hsts arrived. The air con mark 2s were a different colour though!
I copped 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman in what seems like a million years ago at Nottingham Midland station, place was full of them then, both 45`s + 46`s, but not 44`s as these were withdrawn and parked up dead at Toton. Must make an effort to go see this loco, somewhere, does anyone know if it has a rail tour schedule yet?
Seem to remember from my spotting days on the WCML that there were very few MK2 Buffet/Restaurant cars with the MK2 sets that predominated in the late 60's. Probably a cost saving exercise to avoid producing new stock.
great video excellewnt footage i like Shrewsbury its a facinating lay out and a awesome peak as well many thanks syd
What a glorious sight. 45118 looks immaculate. And 57311 looks awesome, too, in its lined black livery.

Nice video work. Would have been great to see 45118 squealing around the Oxley Chord. Keep up the good work!!
Good capture ,they should have advertised this as a £20 return one off special Crewe -Shrew' and return it would have been packed .
Can’t believe the state of that permanent way!
It wasn't that bad in the 80s, that was my patch then. Barely make out my old cabin , surrounded by bloody Budlea bushes. Sad to see.

Fantastic Video
Wow that is some signal box at Shrewsbury. The heritage diesels are the best. Thank you.
Now it needs a rake of Mk1 blue and greys, mostly TSOs! (SRPSs)
Great video as always 👍
sounds very nice!
Nice vid mate. Probably the first Peak into Coton Hill. Shame it wasnt a Black 47,,instead of a Bodysnatcher 😁👍
Agreed mate ref the 57/47 - Always good to see some different back in Shrewsbury though 👌👍

4th carriage along from the Peak is a Mk1.

Who has bought it then Northern belle
As much as others I love the Diesels of the past, but never took to the 45s and 46s. They just look odd.
