And not threatening to commit orc genocide… this ROP Galadriel obviously never meat or learned anything from Melian. I like the version where she “fights fiercely” in difference of her mother’s folk in the first kinslaying.
@@JamesAnderson-dp1dt true but there is no “canon” in Tolkien. He was constantly changing things just weeks before he passed away. The Silmarillion, as published, is NOT what Tolkien himself would have wanted published. This is clear and admitted by Christopher if you read the 12 volumes of the History of Middle Earth. Most seasoned Tolkien scholars will say the same about “canon”. “Theme” is more important to those that study Tolkien in depth. The “theme” of Galadriel was he made her more and more awesome every time he reimagined her character. She was very special to Tolkien, especially after his wife passed just a few years before he did. He also took issue with critics saying he wrote 1 dimensional female characters. A version of the 1 dimensional Galadriel appears in the PJ LOTR films but he kind of adds another dimension to her in the hobbit films.
I agree. Tolkien said in his letters he hoped that future adaptions of his works (since he sold the movie rights) would get at least the characterizations right, the show completely fails on that measure.
Giving birth to Celebrian early on; initially living in Lindon under Gil-galad, then moving variously between Lake Evendim, Eregion aside Celebrimbor, and finally Lothlorien by leave of King Amdir, all with Celeborn at her side. At one point she met and spoke with Prince Aldarion of Numenor.
I love this whole narrative you've set out here. Thank you. It's made me so much more irritated by the fact that ROP has just destroyed the character and not honoured it at all.
She did what she could. I can't imagine perfectly, what it must be like to live thousands of years and stay focused on conflicts and alliances for many centuries. She was an incredibly powerful elf.. the most powerful left in Middle Earth after the war of the last alliances, she lost her daughter, kept her granddaughter safe, Stayed a loving and caring wife, preserved her lands and peoples, made sure her land was fruitful and defended.. what else was there to do during the long ages between the two great wars? She was a positive influence for all... that is all any of us can be, long or short lived.
I'm not so sure she was the most powerful, maybe with her ring, but Cirdan also had a ring before he gave it to Gandalf, and Cirdan is literally the oldest being in Middle Earth next to Sauron and the wizards, he came from the very first Chilrdren of Illuvatar to exist in Arda. He was given exceptional foresight by the Valar and is probably close to 30,000 years old.
She and her kin sacrificed too much, she had to see it through. No one else was left from the 1st age of the Valinor elves. If she left all would have been in vain. Like Gandolf said, It's about the little acts of kindness that Sauron will underestimate his weaknesses(not just from people, but from the Elves that remain!), or overlook. They were not there for power, lands and prestige but for love and Kin, (several quotes in a nutshell) that will give us our best chance. Aluvitar understood this, but the Valinor elves(her father, who asked her to come home, didn't!) maybe never did, (understand the BIG Picture), Another teaching moment. Galadriel, her brother Finrod, knew their destiny (I think his conversations with her, prepared her for the moment), and she and Elrond knew what they had to do! PS, The movie messed this up. In the books, most of the main characters knew what they had to do. THEY KNEW! Jackson really messed this up. The Books were clear about this! Take care.
No one else was left from the first age? Elrond.... Gil-Galad..... Glorfindel.... Celeborn.... Celebrimbor.... half of those guys came from Valinor and the rest born in 1st age. Cirdan is thousands of years older than all of them put together and came from the very very first Children of Illuvatar to appear in Arda. Only Sauron and the 5 wizards are older than Cirdan.
Also, I think celebrimbor knew he "F" up, and that's why he made the 3 Elvish rings. When he knew, (how far into it), I don't know, but because of him, and his sacrifice,(he gave his life and kept quiet), the world was saved! The fact that he is so dismissed by people annoys me....
Man, i will wright it down here. Its like a nightmare before wake, this words...."that Sarons lives because of you...".😢 I wake up horrified and almost crying say: "What have you done to me Dark Lord Amazon?!" You destroy my dwarfesh soul....😢😢😢
Inaccurate...everyone knows she fell inlove with Sauron aka Halbrand and that there was a tempest in her that would not be quelled by the queen regent of Numenor...its canon, duh...
Oh man...two more things: 1. According to the lore, if RoP wanted to have some kind of romance involving Galadriel, they could have create a really interesting triangle between Celeborn-Gal-and Celebrimbor. (Though I find that completely unnecessary!) 2. RoP Season 2 will show the (very quick) fall of Eregion and then I ask myself: where are the elves going to go? I suppose Elrond will help them 'find' refuge. I ask myself when Galadriel will establish Lothlorien... I REALLY don't understand why RoP couldn't have used Season 1 to do the Annatar-Forge Rings storyline, with Galadriel and Celeborn going off to found Lothlorien... #shakesheadindisbelief
@@CrimDragEmperor because the Tolkien estate wanted to have it all by licensing the world and the characters but not the stories. Amazon was blocked from doing any stories directly from the Silmarillion because the Tolkien estate would not even consider allowing it so they forced Amazon to come up with alternatives which were not as good. 😕
@@cpmf2112 Eh that's irrelevant. Amazon didn't have to accept that deal and simply not adapt LOTR if they didn't have the right materials. Furthermore, they could have told a story they DID have access to. Finally, they would have fucked it all up even if they DID have access to The Silmarillion.
Galadriel did not establish Lothlorian it was there and had a king. The king of Lothlorian fell in the War of the Last Alliance. It was only then that the people of Lorian chose Galadriel and Celeborn as their new rulers.
Thank you for the video love theme I'm a fan of Tolkien works my favorite books the Silmarillion end beren end luthen story. And this video is again a beautiful journey into this world. Amazon can't imagine how they had gold in therms of lor to work with but they didn't choose to do it with it.
The showrunners for ROP would find a Catholic influenced Tolkien writing of Galadriel the way he did an absolute absolute anathema. I ponder if Jeff's view of women and the value of people might have influenced the writing as well. The far more accurate and honest depiction of Galadriel here has no cultural space in the minds of the showrunners. They could no more adhere to Tolkien viewpoints than they could write about the motivations of a jellyfish. I might be wrong, but its simply not in them.
I wish Galadriel was more like this in the Rings of Power. I wish they would have let her kept her ability to read minds. I don't know why she doesn't have that power, in The Rings in Power
Did Galadriel's ring do anything "useful" during the time she could not wear it? I suppose that sounds silly, but between the time when Sauron donned his One Ring, forcing Galadriel, Cirdan, and Gil-Galad to take their rings off, and Sauron's defeat, and subsequent loss of the One, when she could safely don it, again, I don't know if it was still able to support Lothlorien, or if such places slowly dimmed, as they would, till the Dark Lord's defeat, when she could risk wearing it, again. It's obviously been important to Galadriel, for a great many of the years it has existed, and she has cared for it, but what of that time where it simply had to sit, hidden, in Lothlorien, while Sauron and the Free Peoples did battle? I feel like Celebimbor's loss was a sad one, but was there any reason his soul wouldn't just move to the Halls of Mandos, upon his demise, or not? I typically complain that Sauron' Ring had a "cost". As much as it did for him, and he intended wirh it, he had to mutilate his essence; his own true self, to carve off a majority portion of it, and tie it up in the Ring, to be able to dominate the other Rings, and that without even being aware of the Three, and how strong they were, but then Feanor seemingly crafted the Palantiri, and even the Silmarils, "for free". He paid with his life, eventually, which compelled him to not live forever, and many other lives were also lost, while he now must reside within the Halls of Mandos practically till the end of days, but that's different to what Sauron paid. Celebimbor, and the Gwaith i'Mirdain, forged numerous rings, and other than doing so caused Sauron to eventually kill them, they seemed "free", but were they? Did Celebimbor "lose" anything of himself into his Rings that his soul might've lingered, or not been whole, and didn't make it, or is his just another Elven soul dwelling with Mandos, because despite Elves reincarnating, if they aren't named Glorfindel, they seem to have to wait some time, for their death to still have impact, and meaning. Entirely unrelated, but I do find it odd that, when Elendil and Co arrived in Middle Earth, after the Fall of Numenor, one of the first things that happened wasn't being attacked by loyal Kingsmen, who survived as colonists, in Middle Earth. They were already violent enough to kill Faithful, and so separated from Numenor, they might have seen Elendil, and his fellow fleers, as traitors who abandoned Numenor, or even brought about its ruin, yet they did nothing, and Sauron didn't have servants spread rumors among them, meaning he, and his Orcs, had to fight them, and the Elves. Feels like a missed play, on the Dark Lord's part, especially since the colonials already had lairs set up, while Elendil, and his sons, needed to set up Gondor, and Arnor, and these weren't territories already held by their Elven allies, or something.
@@venkelos6996 ohhh! Good points. I think you missed the part where Féanor and his kin basically doomed themselves to the everlasting dark in their oath re: Oath of Féanor. So, it's possible none of the Féanorians ever reside in the halls of Mandos. As for the Elendili coming to Middle Earth after the fall of Numenor, it's also important to remember that they seemed to have the manpower to build entire cities in a span of what?a few decades? So, the survivors might still have been quite the number and therefore the allies of Sauron might not have the nerve to battle them, hate them though they did.
think about it...if a youtuber can fill out a video with this much description of just ONE being in middle Earth...really makes you wonder what was really going on inside the meetings and think rooms over at Amazon...just mind boggling....
Most of the things you described are being shown or built on the show. Of course there are lots of adaptations and that's comprehensible. And personally, I like that on the show she's more active and participative in the conflicts. *And I don't know if I am wrong but Amazon couldn't use all the material about the second age, sooooo...
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is beautifully created and it would be good for the RoP showrunners to maybe watch this. For all the airy-fairy progressive stuff the producers think they included in RoP, they've actually turned Galadriel into a VERY weak character. She is the one with all the wisdom and one who wouldn't be deceived by Sauron. All the other elves were. That makes her stand out as an incredibly strong character. In my eyes, that will always be my number 1 reason for loathing RoP. Nothing is more "feminist" than what Tolkien had written. Like many of his contemporaries, he created stunning and powerful female characters, who were able to foreshadow the shadow(s) - literally & figuratively. The whole point is that she, as a woman, will not be tempted by the evil that Annatar has unleashed. Your video reminded me once again of how that storyline should never have been changed...and the fact that Celeborn is sorely missing from RoP!!!! It just makes Galadriel look like a naive, impulsive girl with daddy issues.
i’m glad this channel hasn’t turned into a hate tube channel. that seems to be the way of youtube lately. can’t find any normal Tolkien videos in searches anymore. everything is just angry reacting to Rop these days 😑
One thing that hilarious in rop is Galadriel is from Celebrimbor's parents generation so likely a good bit older than him. Not to mention several generations older than Gil Galad. Yet who would you guess is older by the actors?
@JamesAnderson-dp1dt true. Elves do age ever so slightly in Tolkien but the only one I can think of old enough to possibly visably show it in Middle Earth in rop would be Cirdan the shipwright.
@@alias5084 well, Galadriel and Celeborn were quite old, abd here is their description late in the *Third* Age: "They were clad wholly in white; and the hair of the Lady was of deep gold, and the hair of the Lord Celeborn was of silver long and bright; but *no sign of age was upon them* , unless it were in the depths of their eyes;" (quoted directly from The Fellowship of the Ring)
@JamesAnderson-dp1dt "As they came to the gates Círdan the Shipwright came forth to greet them. Very tall he was, and his beard was long, and he was grey and old, save that his eyes were keen as stars; and he looked at them and bowed, and said 'All is now ready.' The Return of the King, "The Grey Havens" Really puts in perspective how old Cirdan is. Galadriel and Celeborn were at least another 3000-6000 years older in LOTR than rop. Yet still no visable signs of age. Cirdan is from before the Elves even went west to Valinor he is old, very old even among elves so old he even shows signs of age.
@@alias5084 very nice! I did not recall that description (but I should have checked for one!). I had also not remembered how much older Cirdan was. I appreciate you explaining the matter to me.
Galadriel from the rings of p is the only Galadriel for me. She actually gets off her backside and does something, unlike in Tolkien. She's now my favourite elf thanks to that series. Cate Blanchett's version is awful.
@@robultra3459you'd think Celembror (ex sp) would be more than capable. And um where is the main action? Lothlorian or Minas Tirith? Rings of P Galadriel would've been there and rightly so.
@@fred20097 Well I already know you don't know the Second Age Battles, especially you talking about Minas Tirith that was only created after the fall of Númenor, but if you think the writing team is writing a great story on Rings of Power just coping and pasting and changing stuff went they go along that doesn't make sense, great for you. Also there is huge battles on the Second of Age, also if you call the show Rings of Power the main character of that show should be Sauron, he is the instigator and manipulative to create the damn rings in the first place, invades the elf lands, causes havoc in middle earth, so yeah a lot of lore and battles but only for those that read the books or watch the videos about it knows. Final note on this the tv series could have been much better and be faithful to Tolkien lore if they wanted too, they choose not to and they think they can mess with an author great work and make it their own.
At several points you run up against contradiction and confusions, and I know that the fuzzy edges of what counts as "canon" in Tolkien really frustrates some people. But...I like it. It's more realistic. The further back in time you go in our own real world history, the more contradictions and confusions you find. Conflicting sources. Differing accounts. Was Darius still alive when Alexander's army found him? Conflicting accounts, we'll never know. So even though this surely wasn't intended by Tolkien, the contradictions in his own canon actually make it more realistic for me.
Of course, she did enough ... if she hadn't, Sauron would've been triumphant. Galadriel was key part of the forces of ... relative Good ... and provided everything she had to defeat Sauron ... and he was defeated. She did enough.
Why the H3LL did Rings of Power not follow canon storyline? I had no idea it was so different. The show portrays her to be an almost juvenile brat pissed off that her "bf" turned out to be evil.
@@tranism There are only two possible reasons. 1) the thought this corrupted version would appeal to their intended audience, and/or 2) in the intellectual monoculture and echo chamber of the writing/production team, they found their own "creative vision" by far more interesting and compelling than canon.
@@tranism I agree, it was a mistake. If the Tolkien estate had wanted it to be accurate then they would have been willing to talk about it but from reports it was never even on the table to discuss. They wanted to treat Middle Earth as a licensable world to let others develop stories in the world and using the characters but that was foolish. There was only one JRRT and his stories should have been shown to everyone as the first and best representation beyond the book which only a tiny percentage of people will start much less finish.
Since Netflix made it we have to get forced diversity stories that are hit or miss. Had HBO made it Galadriel would have had a nude scene with Sauron. The world is what it is. 😂
My oppinion : in RoP they went too far from what the elvish characters are supposed to be like both in appearance and character. Elves are supposed to be tall, slender, with long light or dark hair and pale complection. I honestly feel like Gill galad is a bit petty too. He has some gestures like he is controlled by the ring, and that was never the case. Then ... Elrond & Celebrimbor look more like Santa's elfes that wise, long lived warriors. And ofc there is the problem of Galadriel 100% out of the book character. I am glad somebody made time to speack of the Real Galadriel, so the listeners can judge by themselves.
This video points out one of the major flaws in Amazon’s Rings of Power-changing the characters into something they are not in addition to ignoring the stories Tolkien wrote. Today and historically there are and have been women warriors. Vikings fought fiercely along side men. Women are soldiers, sailors and military pilots. There are also women who are states people, scientists, doctors, religious leaders and counselors. They are no less powerful than those who fight in war. The writers of The Rings of Power fall into a trap born out of the mistreatment of women in society that was thrust into the publican consciousness in the 1960s. Many important strides were made out of the feminist movement, though there is a long way to go. One misconceptions arose that was meant to be supportive of strong women but is actually misogynistic, the notion that a woman cannot be powerful as a female and must become male with testosterone charged attitudes and actions. Galadriel was not a warrior. Her immense power came from wisdom and foresight and the ability to inspire and motivate people from a feminine perspective of supporting others and building strong relationships. Some people who speak of empowering women consider such traits as weaker than physical male violence, yet those traits are as powerful in achieving any goal. We need more Galadriels in this world to provide wisdom.
Suggestion. Wait until all episodes of series 2, rings of p are aired. Then compare Tolkien's Galadriel, Rings of P Galadriel and Peter Jackson's Galadriel. I know you kind of do that here by descrbing Tolkien's version already, but a proper comparison would be cool. Oh and is there actually such a thing as a 'leader behind the scenes', which is what you say Galadriel spends most of her time doing in the 2nd age? Hands up please who thinks a woman's place is in the kitchen? Lol 😂
@@Dilmahkana just being cheeky. Some people on UA-cam seem outraged just because Galadriel is proactive in rings of p. (for example, I've heard her called 'Guy-ladriel'). Personally, I think she's fabulous (I'm a lady too). I'd rather have rings of p Galadriel facing the witch king at minas tirith than Peter Jackson's soppy Galadriel any day. Unhappily, instead she decides to stay home 'in the background' - I quote broken sword. A shame Feanor didn't also decide to stay at home 'in the background'.
@@anonymouslyopinionated656 well, I love Tolkien and his works but I love the show too.. not every adaptation has to follow the source material directly. Look at Harry Potter, MCU, and The Walking Dead they didn't follow the source material and there loved.
Well, I'm one that absolutely hates anyone trifling with a franchise that I love. Adding detail that stays strictly within the tone and factual lore of the original, I'm okay with that. That's just loyally filling in the blanks. But I cannot stomach this fundamental remaking of well-known characters, breaking timelines, contradicting major themes, injecting contemporary values and societal patters, etc. I just can't enjoy a show that does such things IF i am familiar with, and liked, the original. However, if someone can enjoy the show for what it is, keeping it compartmentalized separate from the source material, I reckon that's their right, and no reason it should bother me at all.
Not trying to stick up for Amazon because they certainly could have done better within the confines of what they were allowed to do, but the Tolkien estate forced this situation by licensing the world and the characters but not the stories. Amazon was blocked from doing any stories directly from the Silmarillion, so all the people complaining that RoP isn't doing anything directly from the Silmarillion should realize it is because the Tolkien estate would not allow it. If the Tolkien estate had said "do it like the Silmarillion said" I feel pretty confident that RoP would have been more book accurate. They didn't so it isn't and can never be.
This is a really dumb argument. The Tolkein estate could have prevented this calamity by actually forcing them to write a good script, but that's irrelevant because they only cared about money. However, to say its their fault because they forced Amazon to only use the appendices is grossly naive. Amazon could have written a story set in the time of the materials they DID have access to. Or simply refuse to license it if they couldn't tell the story they wanted. This was also irrelevant because they didn't care; they just wanted to make something with LOTR in the name. and I guarantee it would have garbage even IF they had access to the full story. They still would have been forcing their agenda on the story instead of adhering to Tolkein's legacy.
I think RoP is a great fan fiction. it sucks that amazon doesn’t have rights to most of the crucial stuff but whatever, hence the random stuff they added lol. It seems to be a recurring thing in TV adaptions of books. Let’s just look at HotD, GoT, Wheels of Time, etc. Directors/Writers want to put it in THEIR image and not the author/creator and that’s where they always fumble!
I honestly just don't understand how they did it so wrong. Literally all of the frame work is already written for you. Just a waste honestly. I like how the one orc found love, but our lady has not. Sad times.
When you spell it all out here, I don’t actually see why people think ROP seriously breaks the canon story. Galadriel warns Celebrimbor not to trust Anatar? Check. She tells him not to treat with Halbrand again. Galadriel fosters diplomatic ties with Numenor? Check, though perhaps a bit earlier in the show than in Tolkien’s writing. Time compression and all. Part of her motivation in staying in middle earth was to oppose the vestiges of Morgoth’s forces? That’s literally her whole bag in the show. It seems to me that the show leans in heavily (too heavily, I’d agree) on some aspects of her character, but everything she’s done in the show so far has some lore justification in the canon. Everything except for celeborn’s absence and her being duped by Halbrand. Even as an apologist for the show, that part of the plot irks me. Im betting that after the fall of Eregion this season Galadriel is going to lead the survivors to safety through Kahzad dum and establish lothlorien for them on the other side of the misty mountains. At least, that’s what the show should do, to keep with the canon. Still no idea what they’re doing with Celeborn. Maybe he’ll show up from valinor with Glorfindel? 🤷♂️
I think so many people treat this world with so much reverence and the trilogy was so perfect it's impossible for anything to reach those standards. Rings of power isn't amazing but based on this channel I was expecting badly acted trash and it wasn't it was okay Same thing happened with the hobbit movies there was so much negativity from big middle earth fans I was expecting dreadful films but they were alright just not as good as the trilogy
@@kanejenkins9580 I love the jackson trilogy. But here’s the thing. It’s not perfect. A lot of the things these so-called super fans complain about with ROP could easily be applied to the Jackson trilogy. And to be clear, I agree that the Jackson trilogy is superior in every way, except maybe in digital effects. Whereas the Jackson films diverge from hard canon many times, there is next to no hard canon for the age in which ROP takes place, so there was always going to be more creative liberty taken. Do I agree with every one of those creative choices? No. Just like I didn’t agree with ever creative choice Jackson made. But it’s truthfully not *that* far off from the canon. What little second age canon we actually have, that is. I think a lot of fans were just already hell bent on hating this show before it even came out that it never had a chance with the diehard fans. I on the other hand have been rooting for the show since day one, and even when I don’t like the choices they make, I look for the best in it.
@@kanejenkins9580 it’s a shame. I think many of these tolkien content creators on UA-cam have unfairly tarnished the reputation of the show to the point that Tolkien fans who enjoy it are second guessing themselves or are embarrassed to praise it without a thousand qualifications. It’s a good show. And from a Tolkien lore perspective, it actually doesn’t deviate all that much. I think the writers are genuinely trying to please the hardcore fans. The show is absolutely stuffed with some seriously deep-cut lore references, references that mean nothing to the general audience but are only there for super fans of the legendarium, but somehow it’s never enough for the perpetually malcontented Tolkien “purists.” I fucking love this show and I’m not afraid to say it. I actually like it more than the Hobbit trilogy, by a large margin. I’ve softened on the Hobbit trilogy, because when it first came out I was NOT happy. But that’s mostly because the overuse of CGI and 3D shenanigans just cheapened the experience of what otherwise was pretty good. I’ll still never forgive the movies to relegating Beorn to basically a footnote in the story, or for absolutely ruining the trek through Mirkwood. Mirkwood was always my favorite part of the book. But the good things about those movies outweigh the bad, quantitatively if not qualitatively.

Inaccurate...everyone knows she fell inlove with Sauron aka Halbrand and that there was a tempest in her that would not be quelled by the queen regent of Numenor...its canon, duh...
After years of reading the books, and studying the lore, i've never come across this privital information. Thanks, Bruh...
@Christrulesall2
Then you haven’t seen Amazon’s $1billion dismantling of Tolkien that corrects all the lore he got wrong without a hint or irony.
@@chamuuemura5314 I was being sarcastic. Of course, I've seen that abomination.
Thank you for giving us LOTR/Tolkein fans something decent to watch.
Galadriel is so sacred and holy, well done in LOTR. But rings of power, it’s an abomination
Oh man...two more things:
1. According to the lore, if RoP wanted to have some kind of romance involving Galadriel, they could have create a really interesting triangle between Celeborn-Gal-and Celebrimbor. (Though I find that completely unnecessary!)
This is much better then how ROP depicts her. Why didn't Amazon just adapt this incredible story?
@@CrimDragEmperor because the Tolkien estate wanted to have it all by licensing the world and the characters but not the stories. Amazon was blocked from doing any stories directly from the Silmarillion because the Tolkien estate would not even consider allowing it so they forced Amazon to come up with alternatives which were not as good. 😕
@@cpmf2112 ty for the info

@@cpmf2112 Eh that's irrelevant. Amazon didn't have to accept that deal and simply not adapt LOTR if they didn't have the right materials. Furthermore, they could have told a story they DID have access to. Finally, they would have fucked it all up even if they DID have access to The Silmarillion.
Even with the material they had, I’m sure they still could’ve come up with a much better story than what we have.
Hey! Could you make a video about Ecthellion? Love the channel!
Nice work dude thanks I watched the cartoon hobbit movie and the fellowship cartoon
This is wonderful .
Galadriel did not establish Lothlorian it was there and had a king. The king of Lothlorian fell in the War of the Last Alliance. It was only then that the people of Lorian chose Galadriel and Celeborn as their new rulers.
i love the lore of melkor " Morgoth " more then Sauron .... but this was a good video .... thank you :)

Best swimmer ever :P
What about Amdir, KING of Lorien and his son Amroth? What was their relationship? Was Galadriel Amdirs vassal? Guest? Councillor?
I think that Galadriel did everything thing she could. She was not a warrior. Her focus was peace and love. That was her struggle.
Definitely not being the commander of the northern armies and scourge or the orcs.
I wish Galadriel was more like this in the Rings of Power. I wish they would have let her kept her ability to read minds. I don't know why she doesn't have that power, in The Rings in Power
@@primal1233 I'm guessing they'll start giving her these powers because of the ring, rather than it being more by her nature
Thank you !!!

Def not anything RoP is saying she did
Didn’t she rule an Elven realm in Lake Evendim region, and also near Dol Amroth?
Most of the things you described are being shown or built on the show. Of course there are lots of adaptations and that's comprehensible. And personally, I like that on the show she's more active and participative in the conflicts.

Hahahahahha genius react
ring of power brought to you by the CW...has to be , cause those elves look more human than angelic

Oh you mean Galadriel not Guyladriel in that Amazon series.
The irony is that Galadriel’s true name, translated, is “man-maiden.”
One thing that hilarious in rop is Galadriel is from Celebrimbor's parents generation so likely a good bit older than him. Not to mention several generations older than Gil Galad. Yet who would you guess is older by the actors?
@@alias5084 why do any of them appear significantly older than any others? There are old elves, but no old-aged elves.
@JamesAnderson-dp1dt true. Elves do age ever so slightly in Tolkien but the only one I can think of old enough to possibly visably show it in Middle Earth in rop would be Cirdan the shipwright.
@@alias5084 well, Galadriel and Celeborn were quite old, abd here is their description late in the *Third* Age:
"They were clad wholly in white; and the hair of the Lady was of deep gold, and the hair of the Lord Celeborn was of silver long and bright; but *no sign of age was upon them* , unless it were in the depths of their eyes;"
(quoted directly from The Fellowship of the Ring)
@JamesAnderson-dp1dt "As they came to the gates Círdan the Shipwright came forth to greet them. Very tall he was, and his beard was long, and he was grey and old, save that his eyes were keen as stars; and he looked at them and bowed, and said 'All is now ready.'
The Return of the King, "The Grey Havens"
Really puts in perspective how old Cirdan is.

Final note on this the tv series could have been much better and be faithful to Tolkien lore if they wanted too, they choose not to and they think they can mess with an author great work and make it their own.

im no lotr buff . but in ring of power... isn't she supposed to be some lady of light... they made her out to be a commander and a general
Already existing in both the seen and the unseen worlds.
And not Amazons Rings of power, Guyladriel
This video will turn the story in Rings of Power on its head.
Tell us who Galadriel REALLY was and what she was ACTUALLY doing.
What she did? Falling in love with Celeborn and NOT SAURON!
She had a desire to go to middle-earth so she could have a kingdom of her own without the pesky Valar treating the elves like children.
1) the thought this corrupted version would appeal to their intended audience, and/or
2) in the intellectual monoculture and echo chamber of the writing/production team, they found their own "creative vision" by far more interesting and compelling than canon.
The Tolkien estate would not allow it.
@@JamesAnderson-dp1dt it was forced by the Tolkien estate, they would only license the world and the characters but not the stories.
@@cpmf2112 That's strange. Now a whole generation of fans who saw the show first will think that's canon.
as if I was watching Rings of Power XD
Why dont you all-caps the "Actually" in the title instead. Hahaha, would make the Shade more Shady.
In Wisdom & Light ✨☀️🌜🌌 🌟🕯️🌈💫🌿 Always
Lol 😂
What on earth is that last sentence about?
@@Dilmahkana just being cheeky. Some people on UA-cam seem outraged just because Galadriel is proactive in rings of p. (for example, I've heard her called 'Guy-ladriel'). @@anonymouslyopinionated656 well, I love Tolkien and his works but I love the show too.. not every adaptation has to follow the source material directly. Look at Harry Potter, MCU, and The Walking Dead they didn't follow the source material and there loved.

Adding detail that stays strictly within the tone and factual lore of the original, I'm okay with that. That's just loyally filling in the blanks.

Well.... What ever she was doing... She certainly was NOT doing what Amazon's "Guy-laderial" is doing put it that way lol
Amazon purchased the rights it wanted to tell the story it wanted to tell. And pretend it is Tolkien.

Being touched inappropriately by Amazon executives?
Rings of power isn't amazing but based on this channel I was expecting badly acted trash and it wasn't it was okay
Same thing happened with the hobbit movies there was so much negativity from big middle earth fans I was expecting dreadful films but they were alright just not as good as the trilogy
The show is absolutely stuffed with some seriously deep-cut lore references, references that mean nothing to the general audience but are only there for super fans of the legendarium, but somehow it’s never enough for the perpetually malcontented Tolkien “purists.”
I fucking love this show and I’m not afraid to say it.
