Target has been doing that type of packaging for Disney for about 2 and a 1/2 years already. My Incredibles 2 4K has the same packaging except its 3 discs, just that the book was thicker and had 2 books in 1
Would've been fitting if Rise of Skywalker didn't have a DVD release considering Revenge of the Sith was the first Star Wars film to not have a VHS release
April 20 the 3D edition will be released. It’s all so crazy, All I want is Deleted scenes and the “J.J. cut” maybe the 3D edition will have the deleted scenes. The bonus features on ep 7 through ep 9 are a far cry from the bonus material on ep 1 through 6 George cared and gave his fans a lot more to dive into and enjoy. Thank You for this video Wonderful info as always!!!
Target exclusive looks really nice! A retro cover of the movie! I'm waiting for the UK standard blu-ray Skywalker saga boxset! Disney movie insider is so limited and there are no good rewards!
Thank you so much for your continued broadcasting of all things star wars during this difficult time. Sad to say I have tried and failed to get the ROS Target exclusive because I don't live in North America (I can't see a way around this) 😭 so I've had to settle for the Steelbook which is the best version available in the UK. I hope you and your family stay safe and I look forward to future videos.
Great video! I was expecting a normal review but instead I was sucked in and I absolutely loved this style of video! Quick question, what is your favorite Star Wars movie?
I'm glad you enjoy this style. My goal is something more educational than just a standard review or unboxing, and that eventually spawned the book as a narrative history. I'm a teacher by profession, so it's probably not a big surprise. Right now, I lean toward Rogue One.
Nathan Butler yeah this style is really cool. I have probably watched like 10 more of your videos since I posted this comment. As for favorite Star Wars movie, Rogue One is one of the absolute best. A New Hope is my favorite, followed by The Empire Strikes Back, but Rogue One is definitely third (sometimes above Empire if I have just watched it and I’m in the Rogue One mood).
I think I might have found that target exclusive documentary on UA-cam. It’s called “A Final Alliance”. It’s 25 minutes long. I don’t know if that is the exact bonus feature on the target exclusive. But that might be it based on your description. Might pick up the target exclusive again.
I dont know if you have noticed but the logo on the 4K disc in the standard edition and Saga Collection has no gradient and is just a block white. The Target and Walmart sets as well as the steelbook show a gradient in the title to match all the other discs.
I have the rise of skywalker on DVD 1st back in the summer and then I recently got the 4K plus blu ray But I threw away the digital copy Into the trash I don't do digital copies anymore
My one gripe with the digital release is that iTunes (Apple TV, whatever you want to call it) doesn’t have the movie(s) in 4K because of some continued beef with Disney and Apple. Movies Anywhere, Amazon, even Fandango - all in 4K. That’s just really weird to me and kind of annoying as well.
They certainly will, but it's hard to say when. Solo isn't even on D+ yet due to the exclusivity contract for first release with Netflix. I'm not sure, but I don't *think* that contract will also apply to TROS, so TROS should hit first digital streaming service run on D+.
So... I’m curious, last time a Star Wars movie left out a commentary, had additional bonus features that were digital only AND was directed by J.J. Abrams we got a collectors addition later in the year. I don’t believe this will happen again but It’s kind of suspicious. Not to mention the fact that they left out deleted scenes entirely.
Hard to say. The Digital Bits claims that individual black packaging releases for TLJ (new discs), Solo (maybe new discs), and TROS (maybe new discs) would come later this year, but they have no definitive info or details beyond, "Disney told us so."
2101martin In the US? No. They aren’t doing those here anymore. The only option is to import from the UK, Japan, South Korea, etc. Those are covered in separate videos.
TLK is correct. In the U.S., we have to import them, usually from the UK but often also via Blufans in China (at least through TLJ) or out of Japan or South Korea.
Hi Nathan! Thanks for all these videos! Just discovered your page, very well done. What are the chances of disney releasing just a 4K box set of the skywalker saga OR a complete star wars movie set? Im tempted to get the japanese home release but its just too much but that's the style of box set I'd like
Just 4K? I doubt it anytime soon. Even in regions where combo packs of multiple formats aren't usaully a thing (such as Blu-ray and DVD together) like the UK, we still see at least 4K and Blu-ray packaged together to entice people to upgrade to 4K. I would expect it to take a few years at least before we really see standalone 4K disc releases in the U.S., if at all.
i would love you to review the team 77 release of ANH. I know its against your normal policy but you should still get one. according to some bloggers its better even than hrmys. basiccly its the version that fans born in the late 60s- 70s and early 80s have been begging for forever. its litteraly what the name sugests, like having the original 77 theatrical cut in the closest a tv can get to fully cinematic quality. Basiclly you stick it in and you walk back in time and its JUST STAR WARS. no visual degredation, you dont even think about specials or changes cause its JUST STAR WARS.
Just sort of some interviews and the kind of stuff you'd see as a promotional and/or behind the scenes quick special like on E! or something back in the day.
The same reason they wouldn't add padding to their mailers: keeping costs at a bare minimum and counting on people not to end up asking for replacements.
You'll see in the next episode, once I get it edited, that this has to do with disc reauthoring for the Skywalker Saga set. The original version of the TFA disc that was just reauthored (the one from the 3D Collector's Edition) and reissued had a color bottom. It now has a grayscale bottom. The TLJ discs were also reauthored for the Skywalker Saga set, and the bonus disc now has the grayscale bottom as well. It's not JJ vs. Rian but Mar. 2020 vs. any previous release.
The Target exclusive has the best cover of them all imo, and those Star Wars website covers are amazing!

@@punknerd9747 Super jackster01 Owns that version
"I've been looking forward to this." - Dooku
Had to get the steelbook to match the other steelbooks I own. I bought all the 4K individuals and put them in the 2015 steels
Been looking forward to this for a while. So happy it's here!

Which Steelbook did you go with from the UK options? 3D or 4K, Limited Edition or Collector's Edition?
@@ChronoRadio the 3D standard edition from zavvi. The collectors edition is just a bit to expensive.
picked up the rise of skywalker last week in 4K here in Australia can't wait to pick up the others soon and the box set collection in may
In Australia you can already get the blu ray skywalker saga individual releases for $12.50 which about $7.50 usd
That may be in part because many already imported them from the U.S. . . . only for them to not be the same discs.
Nathan Butler maybe but I’m not sure.
Luke1296 and 4K releases at jb hi fi
Andrew Attenborough paranormal sick ward nation I’m not sure the connection to what you said and my comment.
Luke1296 there are also 4K releases related to the blu ray releases only exclusive to jb hi fi
Great info (as usual). Thanks for the heads up on those downloadable covers.
Thanks for the info Nathan!

Interesting. I didn't catch that.
Nathan Butler I have looked through dozens of UA-cam videos to confirm because I thought it might just have been a misprint.
Whoa. Got a notification for this while watching an earlier episode.
MAGIC! (Or those this video and that one are a Dyad or something...)

On the plus side, in theory, if they ever resolve that issue, the 4K code that synched through MA should allow 4K on iTunes without a repurchase.
All that's left is to put the movie on Disney+ for those that hate the film don't want the waste money on the movie.

Here in Canada, Best Buy had a blu-ray/DVD combo pack. Didn't get it as it said "not available". Just found it weird
Listed but not released?
@@ChronoRadio yup!
Hey nathan do you think tros will be re released with a black box on the outside? Great video
The Digital Bits says yes, but later.
@@ChronoRadio what do you mean?

@@ChronoRadio sorry but what are digital bits. I sound so stupid
Triston Peterson A website covering this sort of stuff.
Hey Nathan P Butler, is there or is there going to be a release of the sequel trilogy on DVD, Blu Ray or 4K?
PatrickConorEntertainment You mean as a 3-film set?
Nathan Butler yes
Eyy Nathan what about the 3D version will be released o not? In latinamerica hope it will

Will ne there any 3d in America? Here in Germany we will get one with a steelbook
TLK is correct. In the U.S., we have to import them, usually from the UK but often also via Blufans in China (at least through TLJ) or out of Japan or South Korea.

rationalle would be so you could have a baseline copy to compare all the officials against. in effect the control copy for the experiment.
Hey nathan. Can you explain a little bit what the vudu exclusive "end f the saga" is? Kinda curious about it.
Just sort of some interviews and the kind of stuff you'd see as a promotional and/or behind the scenes quick special like on E! or something back in the day.
@@ChronoRadio alright thanks. Im guessing nothing necessary to know BTS-wise?
That sucks with what happened to the lithographs, why couldn't the Disney Store just simply put it in a plastic case?
The same reason they wouldn't add padding to their mailers: keeping costs at a bare minimum and counting on people not to end up asking for replacements.
Where are the deleted scenes for rise of Skywalker
Very weird that the bonus discs for both JJ movies have black and white images while Rian's is full-color.
