Hey Thanks much Mate for this video. I just won my ic-7300 in a raffle at a local tailgate swap meet. Not bad for $20. I never would have got this rig running so quickly without your help. Thanks again. Tim - K5DEZ
Good instructive video mate. I'm still deciding but I've saved this either way. I'm keen on digital modes and I'm glad you made this for us newbies. ;)
Well, that SORT OF worked. "Error in sound input" messages, all over the place. From reading elsewhere, need to put a few toroid chokes on my USB cable.
Sorry, I have a question on the initial settings, I have already set up my 7300 for use with the RS-BA1 Remote Utility and for that I have had to set the CI-V USB Port to Unlink from [REMOTE], so the question is can I leave it like this or should I change it?
HELP ANYONE .....my screen of wsjt-x is exactly like yours... except under "WSJT-X VERSION 2.61 K1JT ETAL" IT DOES NOT read "file config view mode decode save tools help" so i cant click on file to adjust the settings???? NS9T
Finally got my IC-7000 working on FT8/WSPR. Unlike the 7300 I can’t turn off the microphone while transmitting. Just have to be quiet. As an aside, do you know of an ACARS decoder I could use with audio input rather than SDR. They all seem to have lost that feature in recent updates. 6 meters was open to Japan on Sunday afternoon BTW!
Setting WSJT-X to Data/Pkt instead of SSB hides other people's signals in the software's watefall. Has anyone noticed it or is it just on my end? If it's true why does that happen?
Why did you omit the cabling required to set all this up? Where it goes, which cable goes where, etc. Yes... beginners need this! Also the website to download the software isn't available here in the states. Unfortunately this video seems pointless since you skip so much info.
You lost me when you went into audio and suddenly an audio menu appears on your screen and the viewer has no idea where it came from. Most users are faced with fixing the computer interface or installing one every so often, like 6-12 months, and there is no way that we are facile in jumping in and out of driver set-ups, device manager, and wondering where the audio menu is. I also noted that a number of my com port drivers were set at 9600 baud. Should they match the settings you had us put into the radio? Back to experimentation. 73, AB0CD..
Great video Hayden. The only addition I would make is on windows go into advanced and make sure enhanced audio is turned off. This allows a cleaner signal from the WSJT-X program to the radio. I did a video where in windows 11 you think you have turned it off but the windows 10 interface still shows it turned on. ua-cam.com/video/lztVFer5HqM/v-deo.html

Nice work and congrats!
First post! Thank you for this video, starting to learn digital modes this weekend. 🎉
Awesome! Plenty of enjoyment and contacts to be made. Update your progress here and if you have any questions
Nice video, very helpful and I'm sharing! 73!
Thanks!

No worries hope it helps!
This is just what I needed. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Doesn’t the IC-7300 have a FT8 Preset on page 2 of the menu?
And that's how you do that!
Thanks for this ! Its working !
This is a great video, however it does not address how to set the Windows audio level for transmitting. Is this covered in a different video?
Maybe here - ua-cam.com/video/YyWX0i87P0o/v-deo.html

Yes you can leave it like that, just set your baud rate in WSJT-X to whatever it is below that setting - probably 115300bps?

Thank you so much. You da man
could you do. yeasu FT-450D also?? Great video!
I don’t own a FT-450D unfortunately. Great little radio though!

Unhook your microphone?
Can those same settings be used for the IC-705?
Very similar, except just select the IC-705 from the drop down radios list
What power supply are you using??
25A linear supply from Powertech

Check your filter widths when you switch to the data mode. If it's too narrow it will hide some of the signals
@@HamRadioDX Thanks Hayden will try that

Oh well can’t please everyone then 🤷♂️
Icom jp does work in the states. The cable is a bog standard USB cable.

Probably already in Linux. Most drivers are.
