The Whipsaw Trail
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 чер 2019
- The Whipsaw Trail is one of the most challenging and rewarding 4x4 adventures to be had in British Columbia. My friends and I completed the trail over the course of two days, and this is our story.

Seriously the best 4x4 channel on UA-cam, love the way it feels like a Netflix show
Thanks!!
Had to sub. underground, high quality overland/off-roading channel. Keep doing ya thing
This was a lovelty watch. I miss BC so much. At least I bought a TJ back here in the UK to keep me going.
My buddy and some friends did this back in 1998 in a stock Jeep YJ. Great memories.
I did that trail back about 8 years ago with 9 other friends. We only had a punctured rad on one rig and a wheel bearing on another. It made the first day a bit longer. Good times.
Loved doing the whipsaw in my 20’s now almost 50 and looking to hit it again! Thanks for the great memories it hasn’t changed much over the years!
Cool vid. I found some old photos that my parents took of this trail back in the 70s and they were in stock CJ5s and FJs. Can’t wait to run it my self!
I play your videos while I'm at work in the background. It's very relaxing for me
Thanks for sharing the adventure. It's on my list!
Great work on these videos. Out of all the channels that I've watched on UA-cam.
This channel is the most consistent in that the material put out. Keeps me coming back and its actual offloading that viewers like myself are looking for. 👌
Thanks!
Bar none THE best off road videos I have found. Thanks fort the fun and all your hard work.
Dude! Great channel, great editing, great quality, great content, and a badass JT.
Cheers from Australia👍
Love the visuals and the music in your videos !
I cant wait to have my rig going, you make BC seem so worthy of moving towards. And travelling over❤💯
Great video! I’m busy building a 2002 4runner so looking forward to some great trips
My bucket list got one item longer after seeing this video!!! Great job of taping that!! Love from Michigan
Thanks! :)
Awesome edit!!
Wicked trail, can’t wait to do the whipsaw loop..
It's a good time for sure. Thanks!
dude sick edit! can't wait to see you guys on the trails
The first 40 seconds scared me! Already turned around!
Repairing busted diffs on the trail is my idea of a nightmare 🤬
Keeping parts clean is almost impossible and diffs take a lot of setting up to get a good contact pattern, which has to be compromised under those conditions, causing repeat damage further along the trail. Great vid, only just found this, stay safe 🇷🇴🇬🇧
didnt matter he replace whole diff with dana 60 and 40' tires!
Whipsaw is an awesome trail. I can't wait to do it again!
Me too!
Your videos are awesome, i like the bad ass 4x4`s in this breathtaking landscape. What a shame that i saw your channel for the first time today and not earlier :-D
Thanks! There will be lots more coming. Make sure you're subbed! 🤠👍
Same here.
Love the content!
Daniel Heini 150 k for total or 150k one way good video
Your videos are awesome, Beautiful scenery and great rigs. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to visit BC when my Cherokee is done.
Thanks 👍
You have officially replaced dirt everyday for me as my favorite off road adventure channel!
Quality video, love the coverage of British Columbia.
We live in an exceptional place. 👍
That was a fun adventure can’t wait to do this next year, great video btw
Thanks!
Great job showcasing that amazing trail
Thanks!
Spoiler alert
A Jeep breaks lol
Awesome vid tho, nicely put together
First guy I've seen to film the fraser valley area this well, props dude. See ya on the trail
Thanks! Doing my best. :)
Awesome video guys!!! Love the landscape!!!
Thank you!
Pretty rad guys looking forward to your 2020 videos.
Watching from Saskatchewan 🤘
Nice! 👍👍
I see the wrangler and the cherokee running the MTZ tires. I was thinking this for my Samurai but they do not look to perform too well. Will have to try out Maxxis Bighorn MT instead. Thank for video! Not much info on the tire. You earn a local (BC) subscriber
I think my sphincter was whipsawed after watching this. Totally cool !
I m great fan of u,sir. The way u make videos, their editing, music everything is beautiful, the work u r doing is amazing, hats off , wishes for more and more videos to come, ur big indian fan
Found your channel last night and have been binge watching since. Subscribed and greetings from Iowa.🖒
Cheers!
Gorgeous scenery.
Again AMAZING voice overs
Binge watching your magical videos..... love it.
A 6.0 power smoke on the trail is the scariest thing I’ve seen I know cuz I have one 😂
Another great video....thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! :)
Beautiful video!
Doing Whipsaw Trail and Telkwa Pass this year, along with another ride up Canoe Mountain, but in UTVs and ATVs, hopefully we won't suffer much damage. Love your videos, I know it takes lots of work to shoot and later edit, etc.
Thank you! I'm also looking at Telkwa pass this year. Never been up that way.
@@TheStoryTillNow 100s of trails near Terrace and Smithers, glaciers, emerald lakes, crazy stuff. I have a few vids of Canoe Mtn near Valemount, back door to Rockies. I recommend August for any of the elevation runs....or some trails will still be in snow.
Very cool, I'm going to check out some of these places you mentioned. Always looking for good new adventures.
This was a great video!!!!
Thank you
Awesome video. Killer drone shots. I've been wanting to get into 4x4ing for a long time, and am now building up my grandpa's 4 door sidekick that I inherited. Can't wait to do do the Whipsaw someday. Are there routes around the most difficult obstacles? I've got 30 inch duratracs and a two inch lift using taller coil springs. Also getting a rear arb locker.
Dudes....BC wheeling is for real. Amazing views too. Really diggin the channel man. Sub'd
great job on the video!
Thank you
Sooo dope!
5:35 "Uh-oh." Classic.
I’m just here for the XJ. I have a ‘94. JK, great video, awesome trail. Subbed!!!
Thank you
That ring gear broke way too easy.....jeeps
Getting some good views now! Keep it up.
Will do, thanks!
Badass video bro.
I've got that same 6.0 supercab f250 fully bulletproofed and deleted(color and all) and it's very capable but would get scary hot EOTs and EGTs. More power to that guy but I'm swapping a diesel into the 80
diesel.cummins,7.3,6.0,6.6,??..IF,your not hauling 17 ton,look up MWM sprint,4.2tdi.its a german tractor engine,fitted to f250,s & silverado,s,in brazil,aus,africa,u.k,.std they have 510 nm,140 kw.not much,but,100% mechanical.mine has 700nm,168 kw.,gets 12.8 lt 100.,in an f250 s/duty..2002.they just need a bigger turbo..
Great video!
Thanks!
some quality content right here
Thank you very much!
Good story!
Love the content. Just wish you could make them longer.
Working on it :)
@@TheStoryTillNow oh yay
Great video and channel! My friends and I did the trail at the same time, was my first time out with my Jeep. You can see us in the background at 10:05 :D Can't wait to go again in 2020!
Cool! :)
@@TheStoryTillNow you guys need to look up tasmania 4x4,or vic high country 4x4.&,,GET A SNORKAL.
@@TheStoryTillNow &,the telegraph track,qld.
Great video.
Great video dude
Hey thanks!
You need to make part 2 of this trail again with your Gladiator and your friends. Redemption.
Will do
Liked the video. I enjoy your style of telling the story. Sub'd
Thanks!
Judging from where buddy was on the trail (been there 100 times) when he lost his pinion nut.... I bet he was the for a good 6-8 hours unil you guys returned. Hope he offered up some good gas money haha
He managed to cobble something up and limp it home so all good. :)
Impressive that full size was keeping up with the smaller rigs. Was he able to follow along on the route or were there areas he had to avoid?
So, that first front axle jeep break? Is that something that doesn't give warnings? Or ignored maintenance? Me & sons go remote camping, where nobody goes. I think about that stuff? Power Wagon, but being careful is not reassuring anyway. Good technique and friendship your group.
I believe he recently installed a new pinion ring and it just failed. Likely bad gear ratio/tire size/axle combo or poor quality gears.
It's ASMR for me ✌
Well done.....
Cheers
Are there ways around the really rough areas or is it for lifted 4x4 only?
Any idea if this trials open still ? Read some where its gated now
How do you guys have less than 1,000 subs? Great channel, good luck!
Thank you! We're getting there soon. 🤟👍
Well done and thanks for uploading. I noticed most of the trouble spots u guys hit there were other ways around. What are the chances a stock 97 taho would make it through all that if i took the easy way?
There are a few spots where you’d struggle without a lift where there isn’t a bypass. All the most difficult spots have bypasses though. It could be done stock, but you will probably take damage.
Great watch, great editing, and out there having fun! What cameras do you use? Mavic Pro and go pro?
Thanks! GH5s, GoPro and Mavic 2 Pro mostly.
Nice!
I enjoyed the video and I really like the 4runner. Is there any chance of getting the build specs on it?
Braun will probably answer for you if he sees this. 👍
At 5:32 did that happen because you were turning your wheels while in 4wd? Aren't you supposed to pick a line and go straight or am I wrong?
How would you rate that Milwaukee impact wrench? Is it worth the money?
Not my tool unfortunately so I don't have an answer but I've heard they are good. 👍
Where do u get music?
can you tell me what roof rack is on the LJ? Thanks
Smittybilt
Jk's weakest link is their ring and pinion. Great video! Now I have a new destination goal
I can't recommend the Whipsaw enough. It's an incredible trail.
Always heard at least for the rubi D44 ring and pinion is the last thing to give up
Looks like a dana 30 those things break if you look at them wrong . The d44 is much stronger.
I drove past you guys before you went up swear on my life. Just outside of Princeton.
Right on!
Was sooooo hoping for the Ford to break
Very beutiful
Love you
I from iran🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷
Saquatches love Rovers
Where is that at 1:57 of the video?
nice edit! What month of the year was this? I'm thinking July/August are best?
Yeah it was definitely around that time.
Looks like a very challenging trail. I’m guessing y’all spent more time repairing than wheeling on this adventure?
Yep. How she goes sometimes haha.
So....wondering. Ya find this water hole to go thru..nooo problem. How do you know, or not know that this "little" water isnt a 10' hole 1/2 way thru it?
If it's 10' deep we'd sink 😂
Do you guys crow land camp with the jeeeeep
👍
You guys have problems with death wobble after a good off road adventure??
Nopw
How much of this trail could I do with a lifted liberty with a rear locker running 33's ?
All of it
No sweat at all, I've done it in a bone stock Tacoma still on the oe tires.
I often wonder if the people who bought those Caddys new would ever imagine their cars becoming immortal
Next time you or someone does a rear driveshaft, just drop the shaft and drive out in front wheel drive. Feels a little strange and doesn't like it if you try to accelerate through a turn on pavement m but it will get you off the trail and then some. Drove my jeep in front wheel drive for a few days until I had the time to fix it.
I've done this before in my military vehicles when I was in the Army. It works great. At least a FWD jeep is better and safer than a RWD one!
Drive shaft came out from the transfer case. Fluid came out. No limping out in front wheel drive when that happens.
Awesome video, Sub'd! What time of year did you go?
I believe this was in August.
I know that truck from somewhere 0:25
When are you doing Whipsaw again?
Not sure
I saw that chainsaw! That's my kinda gear!
Gotta have a chainsaw around here. Essential gear. :)
Lol shoulda got a 4runner jeeps break to much...but love the content!
My Jeep didn't break 🤷🏻♂️👍
I just like giving jeep guys crap lol
Do you guys have an Instagram or other social media accounts? Would love to follow you guys on other platforms aswell
Yes! We're on Instagram and Facebook @thestorytillnow
Losing the front diff pinion gear is no fun!
Yeah especially on the trail. Lucky we had gear oil.
