Sorin, I watched your other video where you fixed a hinge with hot glue and then the laptop came back with the other hinge not working, but the hot glue one was still fine after a year. Well, I just repaired the hinge on my Getac S400 using hot glue and it works just fine now too. So, thank you very much.
Sorin Next time try to use a Q-Bond glue, it comes with sand for glueing plastic and metallic surfaces. Hinges don’t break, but the screw holders normally get removed from the chassis or break..By putting the screw holders back in place you are making easier for a client to open their laptop again , in case they want to clean the board or replace some components

hahahaha one of the best lessons on youtube for me so far... "you grow older you realize not only you cannot change people but you're not sure you're right anymore...."
You're definitivly right about trust! Sometimes I see many people that trust everybody , these guy will be cheated 100%. But the thing is you have to be positve thinking to be sucessful.
I use a genuine Hakko FX-951 that i bought on the official reseller here in italy one year ago, and i must admit thats the best iron i never use, give it a chance, you can also check if your is a fake buy communicating the serial number directly to the manufacture.
Sadly my emplyer equipped my desk at work with quick clone of japaneese 900M series. It's good soldering iron and it has quite a range of tips but soldering packages like QFN on the outside pads is pain in the ass. Newer hakkos are quite expensive and probably if I will own one I will buy one myself. I'd love to have quick change tips on the got but, well. Don't take it that 900M series was bad. Even today's chineese clones like zhaoxin, yihua etc are good and cheap but that series lacks for some specific tips. I have 20+ years of soldering smd components experience I can do most jobs with 900M series with no sweat but there are some packages on PCBs that are realy time consuming with that type of iron. It can be done properly but it's just not time efficient.
Sorin check resistance of the original hakko between the two stripes. I'm afraid hakko is much lower resistance and need more power . Also... The curve of the sensor is different (different type) So the reading most probably will be different. The resistor is in series with the sensor, the outside metal is Earth only. Good irons have a temperature sensor on the handler to make compensation. I was developing hardware last year based on T12 and Weller. Every brand has a different sensor and heater.
hi sorin>>>>about the flux u need Amtech 559 the orginal one its perfect i use it from some time >>> was send to me from a cusin in usa anyway>>>i love ur work and learned alot from u soo thank u.

Now he owns a WISP and streams himself setting up clients or climbing the tower to manage equipment. Pretty interesting stuff. StephenIRL is his name on Twitch if you'd like to check him out.

If that Hakko iron doesn't work out. Have you heard/considered the TS100? I just started soldering recently and bought a cheap $20 kit. It works okay but looking to get something a bit better. Looking into a weller soldering station or a TS100 off ebay. Also I got SRA rosin flux off Amazon recently and it worked great. However I'm not doing advanced surface stuff like you with a hot air station.
@@protonx80 I'll look up this review. Curious to see what he says about it. They seem to be pretty well regarded. I also seen there's better open source firmware for it. Adamant IT uses it as his main iron. Seems 2 years of use and he had to replace the display. It seems like a decent unit besides that.
I found his review. It's on the TS80 which is less wattage than the 100. I found a different iron but similar called the Pinecil. Cheaper than the TS100 and seems better out of the box. Uses the same tips. Probably going to order one very soon.
@@mogulkhan8525 yes if the need arises .. to either refix .. the laptop or the other hinge ... a little heat ... which will not melt the plastic ... but enough ... will release the hot glue ... there are videos where sorin does that ... in fact .. there was one ... around a week back .. if i remember right

In my opinion, hot glue is not a good fix, the laptop could easily reach high temperatures (100°C) and the glue will melt again, maybe some epoxy would have been better.
If you're using the laptop somewhere where it may reach temps that high, I would suggest you have more important things to worry about than a laptop hinge!
Can anyone in the comments help me ? I want to change Super io smsc MEC 5075 on a dell laptop, I want to know if the ones on eBay need programming by me , or they automatically get programmed by the bios after I solder them , thank you in advance:)

hinge cracked due to.low quality plastic used for case. the case might crack if you use epoxy because is rigid and all mechanical tensions will be transfered to case.
in your own opinion will you be working in the near future. i asked because you have a trusting issue in you my friend. sorry about my bold Question. regards
Hi Sorin I just wanted to know since you're old and there's nothing wrong with that! ❤ but I wanted to know about your beliefs have you tried researching religions and specially are you interested to research about Islam? de asemenea, te iubesc!
I can only share from my experience here. I don't do hot glue repairs anymore. They're quick and very temporary fix and if person using it is opening laptop by corners instead of grabbing by the middle of the frame so the forces on hinges will equalize each other then those kind of repairs will fail very quickly. Those kind of failures comes from: Loose screws so the inserts start playing and breaks plastic. Second - failure of plastic composition itself(manufacturers are using a mix PC-ABS - ABS mixed with polycarbonate which starts biodegradation over time) and there's nothing for that. I have seen many newer acers aged about 1 year sometimes even less which developed failure of plastic structure. Third point of failure I have mentrioned previously. User is stressing out whole casing by opening laptop by a corner instead of grabbing middle point of the frame. Personally I am using industrial epoxy not a type from a shop or typical wallmart, those fail easily too. I am using expensive epoxy that has 48hrs curing time and really thick so you can even glue something above the ground and it will hold although I am not giving any wararnty for that type of repair to customers. For them as I put it is final choice because typical course would be replacing parts with fresh ones but rarely someone wants to spend that much money and buying new parts which is really expensive in failed palmrests with integrated keyboard. My personal dell was glued with it from 2019 which I carry in the backpack and I slam the screen on it multiple times, it still survived. I am not despising Mr Sorin's repair. I am just saying it is short term.
