Maxx-d makes a heck of a system! We just got a surprise pickup yesterday that we picked up with our 16k Maxx-d gooseneck. Knew it was very heavy, but was still shocked when it scaled at 10 tons!! Hit the scales in a F450 pickup pulling the trailer at over 36,000!! We’re working on building a truck and already have the cab/chassis, just trying to fab ourselves or convince Maxx-d for another “Beta testing” setup. lol
Only thing I see is the rails that hang out the back look like they would kill someone i think they need to put some hydraulic cylinders on them so that you can fold them down when bed is down and fold them up when loading
Kind of like a dove tail? I see a lot of people are worried about it. It looks way farther out in videos and pics. I have seen "stinger" tails that stick out even farther on large rolloffs. I think these just look scarier because of the shape and location. That safety bumper to end of tail is within legal limits from what I can tell!
If that was a 16 ft dumpster, you wouldn't even see the tails.....maybe they will make a longer can that also fitts......................................
Ill tell you the chassis will be fine with heavy weights for sure without a question, I've had my t270 single axle rollback to a little upwards of 32-33k and I've had my single axle t300 to 55k, Both handle just fine.
@towtruckaj great to hear! It was incredible how well it handled something just a little overweight. It was very obvious the truck was built for more but derated.
@@rollingops they are strong trucks, especially the newer t series, my 99 t300 has a lot less braking power than the new one and is a lot more gutless feeling, my 21 t270 is pretty strong but the way they are setup unfortunately my old one is the one that deals with massive weights.
FYI in some states you can designate your truck to be 26,000 pounds when you register it even know it could be rated for 40,000 pounds. Some people do this to save on registration and also to legally drive it with out a cdl. PROBLEM DOT goes by the manufacturer rated weight capacity NOT what you rate it as so you still need a cdl in those cases. It also applies if you add weight carrying capacity if you put more springs in so you can haul 10 tons but truck is rated for 5 tons you are now overloaded regardless of what the truck can handle.
@kenpaige990 I believe this is all very accurate! From my knowledge base, at least. A lot of guys try to buy 32k gvwr trucks FROM THE DEALER, then register them at 26k to avoid cdl. But the only way to truly do that is to have the manufacturer build you a 32k gvwr truck and then derate it from the factory back to 26k. If you get really lucky, you can find some of those trucks used occasionally.
Definitely a possibility, if it was a really heavy bin. But we came across that issue with our vintage build as well. You just let the winch out a little bit, so it hangs past those rails and inch.
Is MaxxD making this system for the art system (16' bins) are you stopping short of bin then setting the hook and continue to back up? Thanks, Brian Go Idaho Dumpster
Started with maxxd, decided to grow with them, and utilized my existing equipment. My customer doesn't care what my dumpster manufacturing rail size is. So I don't see a need to start all over, double my investment and overhead (hooklift trucks of this same size are significantly more expensive, and I would need more than one of them to keep up with demand. While I already have a truck and trailer still). I'd also be starting over again in a more expensive market. Everything is higher in price than when I bought the cans and equipment I already own. Only to charge the customer the same amount in price! That's just my personal opinion, but I'm sure others feel differently. I am currently trying to make sure that more money is being made than spent! And I don't see any reason big enough to switch. I have talked to many guys about when they made the switch to hooklift, and when I'd ask, "Show me where this made you more money" - I never could get a good enough answer. People would justify it with some things, which I understand. But no one could show me on paper where they were able to 2x their revenue. Some have even admitted they never factored in some of the additional expenses that ended up coming in to play with a hooklift. There are definitely benefits to hook, and I think they are very cool. But there are great benefits to this style as well! Long story short! I just like Maxxds design, and they work well for me. So I plan to continue with them. Totally preference.

I think here n West Virginia it’s under 20k n less it has air breaks then u need a class b cdl anything over 20k with r without air breaks u need a class b I’m pretty sure
@@rollingopsnow I’m confused, why are you building rigs that are under CDL when you can operate cdl rigs, does it have to do with paperwork and duty times with driving CDL?
@jeremyosborn1543 yes and yes. Comes down to a hiring issue too. I can find reliable guys that don't have cdls to drive under cdl trucks. Especially in a big farming town like mine. Sadly the feds have made it much harder to get a cdl. I'm more or less future proofing part of the business. I Fully expect to have both cdl and non cdl trucks!
@diesel1765 i appreciate it! But we went to several locations called multiple companies that specialize in hub swaps. This particular axle doesn't have a conversion unless we Machine the spindle significantly. So that's why we went with the axle swap. (We needed the heavier duty spring regardless because of the future motor swap!
The cans hanging over the back axle to far you are taking to much weight off the front axle it is unsafe 20.000 is all you can have on the rear axle axle but your gvw is not rated for that you have just opened yourself up to a lawsuit
@danthompson1467 it is within the legal limit at around the 5 ton mark. But, I know what you mean, it would def benefit the distribution and a little bit more legal weight if the axle was set back a little farther. Luckily with typically hauling residential dumpsters, 90% of our dumpsters are 1 ton or less.
They or he don't listen to free advice from a trut fleet owner about stuff for the truck what he should of done before he made it if only going to haul five tons go for it waste of time and truck potential if was set up right could haul 9/10 tons but setup all wrong good tax write off cause not going to make enough to pay for it at full potential
@KevinHarvey-qw5mj , oh my, They made it right considering the weight capacity of the truck. The truck is only legally rated to haul 5-6 tons. No matter what setup is on here. So you're basically saying that kenworth made the truck wrong and that no one who ever bought a small kenworth has made any money. Maxxds rig is very overbuilt for the setup this is on. People all over the country run under cdl setups and make plenty of money doing so in the waste industry. And many other industries for that matter. There's more to the trucking business than how much weight the truck can haul. I wish you the best my friend, but believe you misunderstood.
@rollingops probably did but I had a trucking company and got paid for what you hauled just get it license right cause dot loves us trucks I'm retired though we had a landfill also so know what it's like dealing with customers on that end I didn't have to worry about getting rid of my stuff cause had a place but I had a sand and gravel company where we would haul concrete to for recycling that is why I always say find a place to save money I even hauled broken concrete dumped by river here for erosion control thanks for letting me know about that I just put in my two cents every now and then to give you a idea don't know have a good day checking for next one n
Trucks probably underweight. I ran a couple service trucks with air brakes and a dot number but due to how they were registered before the body was added we were technically underweight for a cdl
As he said, it depends on your state. But it’s a common misconception. Air brakes does not require a CDL per FMCSA. 26,001 lbs or more is usually the only thing that matters, unless your state is more strict than the federal standards. Always always always check your state and local statutes.

One thing I wish manufacturers would make is on board scales. Have a rare weight of each can. At pickup you know much is in your can.
All he would have to do is add an air scale to his rear bags, wouldn't give total weight but it would give drive axle weight.
Awesome setup looks like it's going to work well 🎉
