I hate tabs. I don't want them building up in my board. I also, by popular demand, now have a Discord community server for some reason. I'll try not to advertise the hub beyond this in future, but it's in the description of this video and linked on the links hub on my channel banner (unlimited-time unlimited use code, so shouldn't expire until stated otherwise) EDIT: I don't know much about original keycaps so apologies if "Dolche clone caps" sounds like nonsense--I think that's what they're aping off of but dunno. THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T LISTEN TO ME. I think I also forgot to clarify in publisher notes that the LGR video is a "Blerb" not a main channel video.
Like you, I got a C2 a little while back. I modded it with Akko ASA caps and Purple Panda switches. It's been really nice to learn to mod on, but I also immediately got V5 envy as soon as I saw those released a few months back. :-)
Great video man, definitely made me laugh. Just keep the nerdy ass videos coming! Also, I agree that the click haters are just being extra sensitive. I love a clicky ass keyboard.
OK seeing this convinced my to finally get into building my own mechanical. If YOU can do it, I can do it ... probably, most likely, eventually, maybe. Question: what is this grain? Sometimes I feel it is well placed for retro shots but sometimes it feels weird. And do you have a wobbly desk or is this some sort of compression not working so well with your hands shadow? Other than that. Really enjoyable - as usual. More! \o/
I use the Logitech G513 with GX Blue Clicky Carbon Switches I find them to be very satisfying to use, anyways great video as usual keep up the great work!
LINUX NOTE (I KINDA FORGOT ABOUT THIS HOLY SHIT HOW DID I MISS THIS) Keychron C/K-series keyboards on Linux work in a *very* bizarre way. They will always use a Mac-centric driver even in "Windows/Android" mode. The solution is... hidden behind a Facebook ad they put in the box. To save you the search, here's the actual solution: gist.github.com/andrebrait/961cefe730f4a2c41f57911e6195e444#make-fn--f-keys-work Basically, create a `/etc/modprobe.d/hid_apple.conf` file with (no quotes) "options hid_apple fnmode=X", where "X" is a number from 0-2. 0 disables the function switch; all F-keys are F-keys regardless of FN. 1 makes the F-keys default to media functions; FN+F-keys uses the real F-key. 2 makes F-keys default to F-keys; FN+F-keys uses the media functions. DON'T ASK ME WHY, Keychron is weird.
I've built like 3 customs, each of them fell abit short on what I wanted, my first was a decently expensive one, about $200 gk68 barebones modded with lubed gateron yellows and $50 keycaps software was terrible. My second was a 40٪ ortholinear with lubed gateron yellows again, liked the ortholinear layout but wanted number keys at the top, then I got a 50% and used lavender purple switches, also like it but then switched back to a normal keyboard after that because I used a laptop that had a normal layout and I started gaming more often. I think I may have to build the ultimate no compromise custom soon Will probably be something like a 75% with a metal case and "good for gaming" light lubed linears
Keyboards really are a drug. Honestly, the perfect board is just the one you have at the end after going broke - since you'll actually have to use it and not think so much about mistakes being made, even though all you can think about is all the ways you could probably make it better. Honestly, Jades are kind of growing on me, but I still feel a tad bit of remorse and thinking about what could've been if I got the right switches the first time--I'd probably still get pinky strain from Navies (lol,) but eh.
six, seven years ago I got a random cheap gaming keyboard of a rather popular, mistreating workers, e-commerce site. The board was okay, I even recommended it to a friend, who got it and was very disappointed. The completely changed the feel of it, I've never touched a worse keyboard. The biggest annoyance with my model was that people in discord VC would literally hear me type. (I do not know whether that was mechanical or membrane or what ever, I didn't bother with that. Last year I moved and left my PC behind. Now computing is done on my thinkpad and Gaming on the Steam Deck. In addition to a nice budget ultrawide I got a generic full size cherry board with cherry silent reds. One of the better purchases I've made. No modding, just reasonably silent and consistent typing.
I've used cheap membrane keyboards for over 20 years. Everyone assumes I have some sick top-tiers mechanical keyboard because I'm a programmer... I just can't stand the noise.
You went with Arch? I went with Manajro. I heard it is like the "Ubuntu" of Arch. But I don't tihnk it is the nerfed. I have had to edit a lot of config files and tweak things to make things work for me. I don't know why anyone would think it is like that lol
*That moment where I just plug my Linux video* Manjaro's okay, Endeavour's better; if only because it's actual Arch repos, and not just something entirely else in Arch clothing.
@@ThatOneSeong Thanks Seong. I may make the jump yet. My /home partition is on a separate drive, so it's not like it hurts to change up the root at all.
Honestly, anything less than TKL just looks like a waste. I don't get the enthusiasm for the toy sized keyboards. I have a non-backlit version of the C2 and, yeah not the greatest, but far from the worst. I'm looking at one of the K-series or a GMMK 2 to fill out the collection before finishing off with one of those New Model M keyboards.

gotta respect your editing man, good work

Yo
The best utuber has arrived w a new video !!!!
The quality of your videos is simply too good and it's ruining all of UA-cam for me because nothing else can compare.
Trust me, this really isn't much. I appreciate the response, though!

@Seong's Seongs yeah for my first board I bought a pack of 10 jade's to test out but I decided that they'd be way too loud lol

You should do a light gun video

So.... Should I buy a mechanical reprogrammable keyboard?.
Get him to try Boba U4Ts!!
If I ever open up to donations or get a real job, maybe. lol
Got links to the switches?
