Only 16gb of RAM in your PC? Well I guess that's not a big deal when you're using linux which barely ever even scratched the 1gb mark. It's really well optimized and lightweight. I installed mint on my ancient craptop I use for media on the go and it runs almost as good as new, but still stuck with windows 10 on my gaming PC cause I play a lot of VR games specifically and getting it to work on linux was a nightmare (and never did happen).

as soon as people understand only 3 linux version exist and the distros are simple to give u standardized setups like im a gamer or i prefer officework and looks of the desktop, a lot more people will switch as linux simply gives u the freedom to descide what u want on it. While windows comes in 3 version with a lot of bloatware that uses a lot of your hardware and most likely u will never use. go debian, fedora or arch and add only the software u are going to need and use, thats linux. the distros only make it easier for you but add software you might not use and limits a lot of freedom of choices.

I have gotten linux to work "well enough" all i am really gonna wait on now is HDR support. I love it and windows sadly supports it much better than Linux at the moment. Lets see if the KDE team along with hopefully the new fire under Wayland team can get something cooking that will be just like windows "1 toggle to enable" rather than the current *enable in KDE, open steam open launch parameters get gamescope installed and then fiddle with that for every game* just a tad too much friction.

I've been running Linux Mint (yes, the easy mode distro for plebs like me) for a week after three days of trying to get Debian to not be utterly broken beyond use. The OS actively dissuades me from wanting to use my computer. Everything is sudo apt -get headache && open ~/.aneurysm. It is taking everything in me not to go groveling back to Windows 10. The allure is strong, but I'm genuinely questioning whether it's for me.

Finally made the big move this week. I first tried Debian and was disappointed by how broken it is (stock Debian, not an offshoot). I'm not running anything unusual, in fact there was nothing I couldn't find out of the box support for, even my Huion tablet. I ended up going back to Mint, the first one I tried on an old laptop, and the least headache inducing version I've found so far (not to say there were no headaches...). This is going to be a REALLY long process of getting to grips...

For any windows users worried about updates breaking your OS, I've been using Linux Mint for almost 2 years now and literally only had one update that made the OS bug out. It sorted itself after a reboot. It's pretty rock solid!

I would argue OpenSUSE has the best partition screen because it even gives you a much more laid out automatic setup than most distros do. Most distros cram everything into boot and root but OpenSUSE gives you boot, swap, root, home, and even subvolumes.

Ive been having an issue through several distros and a couple PCs: trying to use Piper with my logitech mouse creates huge lagspikes when running games on wine, proton or bottles. This keeps me on Windows :c

I'm on day 3 of my Linux journey. Just installed Mint on a second drive and have been dual booting. I've already got most of my programs migrated and I think I'll be finished by the end of the month! I was shocked by how doable it was. As long as you can follow a step by step text guide it's not very hard. I'm looking forward to the day I can format my Windows drive :D
