      Yes, I think as a whole, Dior are a bit like Chanel, in that you need to try them a few times to see their beauty, but certainly Dior are friendlier and easier on the whole than Chanel.

    Hello Dr. Claire. I totally agree with you on Eden Roc. I received samples after ordering Ambre Nuit which I love. This truly is a nice line and now I want Gris Dior.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  11 місяців тому

      Hello Faith! Hope you are well! Yes Eden Roc was certainly not for me 😂 I guess if someone loves salty mineral though it would be for them. Ambre nuit is so gentle and enveloping, I find it so comforting. Gris Dior is just very put together, I love how elegant it is. I have tried lots from this line now and I can't say that I actively dislike any of them, oud ispahan is a struggle for me because it's so strong and tobacolor too, although I love the smell of it, I just find it overwhelming. I tried belle de jour and Dioriviera the other day in store and I liked both of those too. If you like ambre nuit, did you try oud rosewood? Some people say it's "masculine" like they also do with ambre nuit but I think it's just a beautiful smooth one. Thanks for watching 🥰

    I am impressed that you were able to find them for such reasonable prices. Everything I'm looking for pre-loved is usually close to retail. Before the pandemic there were deals, but I haven't found much in recent years.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  11 місяців тому

      Yeah I agree, it's definitely harder to find good deals. I was very lucky. I think actually mainstream designer fragrances hold their value really well if boxed etc. But these peripheral lines aren't as sought after, I guess the people that buy them want the full experience of ordering from Dior maybe? The Jasmin des Anges fragrance was a complete bargain for the volume, but the others are really only 20-30ml left. I don't think I need more though. 😊

      It is for sure! I have to say the difference between my decant and the bottle that I have was striking. I am amazed that Dior tolerate that much variation in how it smells but I guess they are dealing with seasonal variation in their natural ingredients. These are definitely worth a sniff ☺️ Thanks for watching and happy Saturday 🥰

    So glad to hear your thoughts on this iconic collection! I was sent a fairly older travel spray of Jasmin Des Anges and found it super strong/cloying/heavy, lol -- now I have to get my nose on a fresh batch I guess. I really enjoyed Eden-Roc, and found it to be an elevated version of the beach vacation fregrance. I recently swapped for and then purchased a decant of Rouge Trafalgar; that's probably my favorite of the collection. I own decants of Mitzah and Feve Delicieuse and found them heavier than I typically enjoy; I'm probably too much of a newbie and don't deserve them! haha

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  11 місяців тому +1

      Wow, you have fève!!! That is like gold! 🤣 No, I think I'm a newbie too and I do think there is a lot of batch to batch variation with these. The colour differences are a good marker for that and can be enormous, so ambre nuit can vary from pale straw to an amber colour. The naturals just cause a lot of variation. I think if you get the opportunity, always sample the current batch before buying a bottle. It's something I've learnt to be wary of! I loved Rouge Trafalgar too! If I see a good deal, it's a definite maybe. Have a lovely Sunday 😘

    I agree with you about this line being addictive. Once I bought my first, I couldn't stop buying. 😊 I love all my perfumes from the Christian Dior Privee line! 😍Gris Dior is so elegant and perfect for formal occasions. Jasmines Des Anges is my favorite from the line so far, though I'm not done adding perfumes from this line to my collection. 😊 Holly Peony smells like Peony very strongly, though I smell the rose too.

      I have tried so many now 😂 and I want a few more 😂 I think Jasmin des Anges is instant love for a lot of people, it's just so pretty. Wow Claire!
    this is a line of fragrances that I have always wanted to try. They were unavailable in Canada until this year. I still haven't taken the plunge on any because of the price. Gris Dior has been on my wish list for quite a while. It may be a splurge for Christmas this year. I do love a touch of vintage feels in my fragrance. Jasmin Des Anges had some mixed opinions. I am curious because it won you over l, even though it had some notes you don't gravitate toward. Ambre Nuit sounds like one I might like. Cozy is often 'my jam' because we have such a long winter here. Eden-Roc sound like a no for me. Holy Peony sounds sounds like a number of things out on the market. I guess in time we will know your feelings toward it.
    Thanks for your video! I was excited to watch this one. Take care! 💛😊✨

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  9 місяців тому

      Yes, honestly I don't think I'd want to spend full retail on these, even for 40ml unless I was very sure which was my absolute favourite. Having lived with these for several more months. I think Gris Dior has a cross seasonality that adds to its appeal. I really like that it's any occasion, any season kind of signature. Such a good one.
      Jasmin des Anges surprised me, I tried it in store and walked out thinking, yes that was pretty but I don't need it, an hour later, I was hooked 🤣
      Ambre nuit has a mixed opinion, some people call it "masculine" I think it would suit anyone. Eden Roc sadly just wasn't for me but I'm really not good with salty. Holy peony is just underwhelming for me. I think I could have spent £40 more constructively.
      I hope you get to sample lots of these eventually ❤️ Thanks for watching 🥰

    What a stunning fragrance that is. The Jasmin is very tame, and honestly as close to the flower as I've ever personally tried in perfume. So beautiful, and mouth wateringly delicious somehow.

And there are plenty of others too that I would love in my collection.. Wearing Gris Dior today. Price increases are annoying. Thank you for This review 🥰 Dior’s exclusive line is really addictive, I agree, Three of these are really love to me, Gris Dior, Ambre Nuit and Eden-Roc are all must haves for me. The first was Gris Dior and I didn’t fall in love on the first or second try, but the third time, ooooh! It’s just a perfect scent in all weathers, all year. My second was Ambre Nuit, it was love straight away 🥰 Jasmine des Angels is so clean and feminine, a love too, but Eden-Roc…oooh! First time I felt it was a bit weird, second time I just wrote it off, only to find that I craved for this scent and now I’m hooked ♥️ Holy Peony is not all that to me, it’s nice, but Rouge Trafalgar, Happy Hour, Feve Delicieuse, Vanilla Diorama, Belle De Jour and Balade Sauvage…all lovely and on my fragrances front row. Balade has that weird goodness, but some fragrances must be worn a few times before I can determine it as a hit or not ♥️

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  10 місяців тому +1

      Ooh I really want to try balade sauvage! I tried belle de jour and that was just so pretty! It's such a shame it's been discontinued. I think fève is also discontinued... I'm afraid I didn't get to try that one. Rouge Trafalgar and oud rosewood are also gorgeous! Did you try Dioriviera yet? What did you think?
      I have tried a few times with Eden Roc, but I don't think I'll get over the feeling of just wanting water 🤣 I'm not into salty unfortunately, I can see that it is interesting certainly though and great if you want a rocky beachy feel. I agree that holy peony is underwhelming. It might not stay in my collection for long. Jasmin des Anges, Gris Dior and Ambre Nuit are staying for sure though ☺️
      Thanks for watching! 🥰

    • @belinajewel
      @belinajewel 10 місяців тому +1

      @@dr.claire.perfume yes, some of the best get discontinued, but sometimes it could be because of regulations and they need to be reformulated, but Feve Delicieuse is a shocker. No, I’m waiting to receive a sample on Dioriviera next week, I live hours away from the one Dior shop in Norway, but I most sertanly will buy a full bottle eventually 😅🥰 did you try Dioramour?
      Some say that one Miss Dior, Blooming Bouquet, is quite similar to Belle de Jour, fingers crossed. Balade Sauvage is like a less sweet and a bit more edgy than Initio’s Rehab, didn’t like it at first, but now it’s a love.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  10 місяців тому +1

      I didn't get the similarity myself with belle de jour and blooming bouquet but I only tried belle de jour once and I'm not that familiar with blooming bouquet. I don't think I tried dioramour. I will add it to my list to spray! Thanks for the suggestions ❤️ I hope you enjoy Dioriviera, it's had very mixed reviews, I didn't love it but didn't dislike it, I guess I have things that are along the same lines but not exactly the same. 🥰

      @@Tina-wi7we I'm just going to say though, that I really don't like buying 2nd hand because the bottles are often "off" by the time I get to them. I would say 80% of people out there love to display their perfumes on shelves or on table in a bright room, and I also don't know if they are selling a fragrance they purchased off Ebay or Mercari or Poshmark, where the true age or authenticity is questionable. I just have to pay though the nose (ie, retail) if I really love a fragrance; btw, I store my bottles in the fridge, like a crazy person, so yeah, I really care about keeping the scents as fresh as possible.

    • @Tina-wi7we
      @Tina-wi7we 11 місяців тому +2

      @@jcjccmz I've managed to have good luck in that regard. I can't think of one perfume I've had any trouble with. I think a lot of people selling on Mercari are either perfume enthusiasts like us or people that sell perfume in shops and they get perfume as gratis that they don't really love, from the places from which they work. But yes, that is a risk, I suppose.

Ambre Nuit is fantastic and id like to own it and Gris Dior is lovely but wouldnt buy it, just not my style... i never tried the other ones u mentioned in this vid they seem to be beautifulc reations but may b more feminine leaning...

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  11 місяців тому +1

      I tried it in store last week actually 🤣 I thought it was a green fig, much like alluring fig by theodoros kalotinis but with much much less vanilla, maybe a touch in the drydown, so it's also more fresh and slightly watery feeling than alluring fig. It was also quite gentle on the rose but that became prominent as it went along, a bit powdery too. It was sweet and middling longevity and strength from my one experience of it. Some others I tried at the same time (e.g. belle de jour) faded much faster. I didn't love it or hate it. I liked it, I thought it was summery and refreshing, but I have alluring fig so I'm happy 😊
      Eden Roc I've not seen anyone love, Lizzie resold her bottle after purchasing, it's a hard one for most people to get along with. If you love salty marine though, it could be a love. Hope that helps!

    You know that feeling when you want to like a perfume because everyone you know loves it and you don’t want to be the only one who doesn’t? 😬 That’s me with Gris Dior 😢 Even when I heard it described by several UA-camrs and I knew by the description I would not like it, I still ordered a sample because it is so well loved! But believe me, I have not given up on it, I will be trying it again and again until my sample is gone. I do like it better than Coco Mademoiselle tho! I just ordered a sample of Ambre Nuit last evening, so that should be here in a couple of weeks… I am kind of nervous I won’t like it. I ordered it because Abi loves it so much so I want to experience it too! ❤ I’m never disappointed when I don’t like a sample though, because I just want to know what it smells like. And it’s very satisfying to experience it whether it’s a love or not 🥰🥰 I enjoyed your video, thank you for the great descriptions!! 🙏🏼💕

      I think if you don't enjoy it, check the batch, the batch from 2022 is less nice to me than the batch from 2019-2021. The rose and jasmine used is a different harvest, the 2018 harvest was one of the best they had apparently. The two years I've smelt smelled extremely different to me when I tried them side by side. • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  11 місяців тому

      Yes it's clearly a DNA that has been copied. I am beginning to realise that there is a lot of variation in these fragrances. I have seen bottles from different years and the colour differences are stark for fragrances like ambre nuit, clearly that could be ageing but it might just be variation in the naturals used. When I smelt Lizzie's Gris Dior and mine (2022) side by side, Lizzie's was so much more red rosey. I am wondering whether the current batch of ambre nuit (mine is 2022) is also less rosey 🤔 I went to ask at the Dior counter if gris Dior had been reformulated, they said no but the rose and jasmine harvest used for the 2022 batch was different compared with the 2019-2021 batch, since there was a bumper harvest in 2018 and Dior stockpiled the oils apparently. 🤷‍♀️
