Hi. What type of roof sheet do you recommend to minimize the chance of roof windows leaking? I must admit that these sealing collars for wavy sheets do not appeal to me.

Hello Rodger fantastic work sir. I have a sky light in for the last 13yrs and from day one it has never been right. Howling whistling wind blowing in. Is it hard to replace these windows?

      Hi inspirepics,
Due to the age of your existing roof window there will be a small modification to the roof required to increase the size of the existing aperture.
All current roof windows on the market are recessed into the roof between the roofing rafters to aid with the visual aesthetics of the product when installation is complete, so that the window appears lower in the roof when compared to traditional roof windows. But also more importantly to help improve the thermal performance of the unit.
Once the modifications to the roof have been completed the installation will be as straight forward as how Roger has completed it in the video.
For any further information or assistance on the above or indeed the installation, please contact the Keylite Technical Department on 028 8675 8921.
      Thanks

My keylite window is leaking at the two lower edge corners, any suggestion as to what may be the cause. Thanks

Very useful vids as I'm about to install 3. Silly question but what is the joist spacing to fit 780mm windows?

If I had a hammer, I'd splatter all the flashing 😂👍

At 5.45 minutes he was installing a cut tile on the flashing I noticed it slip and he held it with his hand then I noticed when he put the second cut on above it, there was no nail in the first cut, is that inferring you do not nail through the flashing and it has to have a different mechanical fixing ?

I wondered exactly that, looks like the tile nail would go right through that whole edge assembly creating a perfect hole for rain to seep through. I guess it's OK of the nail hole is off set, so I guess you have to drill one. Tip: Buy some spare tiles.

Hello Roger, I’ve just installed my first two Keylite windows exactly in accordance with your video and Keylites installation guide. They both leak from the top corners because the tiling had not been completed. In other words, any water that gets through the tiling runs over the breathable membrane and into the holes at the corners where there is no flashing provision. This is a design failing that I am having to rectify using an EPDM flashing after removing the support brackets at the top corners. Maybe you can use your influence to encourage Keylite to produce a redesign that addresses this appalling problem?
