  • Well, I had an incident occur last weekend. It was a lesson learned for me, so I figure I will pass that lesson on to you. Thankfully, no furnaces were hurt during the learning of this lesson.
While I am at it, let's do a little "How it works" tutorial on an oil fired hot air furnace. Sorry for the lack of disassembly, but I would prefer not to mess with my service contract by breaking something!
The filters my Thermo Pride Model OH5-85 (installed 1987) furnace uses. Be sure to purchase the correct ones for your specific model: www.allfilters...

Need to make an adapter plate out the get a Beckett burner . Same ones they put in trailers/ mobile homes, They're far more efficient and work the same.

Actually, the burner is a Beckett brand installed in 1987. Over the past 19 years, I have replaced several components such as the motor, igniter, and controller, but so far so good...and thank goodness for service contracts!

Thanks for the video... great information. Was looking up information on the Thermo Pride I have here at home... We've got almost the exact same setup.

Same model but I can't seem to find the manual for cleaning soot from the chamber on any video so far! Later models show different ports, but mine being deferent of the same model here; I would like hopefully find the steps to access the chamber to vacuum out if anyone knows?

I have the same unit so this was a fantastic video for me. I will also put a carbon monoxide sensor in the basement. A question I have is when the AC is on, I get condensation backed up and spills back into the unit and not going to the sump oump. How would I check the condensation inside the unit? Thanks again!

If condensation is spilling back, then I would check for a kink or blockage in the condensate line. Also since I believe it is gravity based, ensure the condensate line always pitches down away from the heat exchanger. I hope that helps!
