Rodman Revealed - Spurs years
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2012
- The transition from "The Worm" to "Dennis the Menace" ...from being proud to just make a team to doing it his way. This is the Spur years of Hall of Famer, 5x NBA Champion, 2x Defensive POY, and 7x Rebounding Champion, Dennis Rodman.
One of my old coworkers said he use to drive an old ford pickup around north san antonio go bar hopping or just shop like a average person. Real humble guy
Loved when Rodman played for the Spurs. He brought flair, energy, defense, and tenacious rebounding and it was the perfect "odd couple" pairing of him and Robinson. Those were the best Spurs teams of the 90's too besides the '99 Championship team. Good memories.
The Spurs would have had a real Dynasty with Rodman! Pop would have his 1st Championship his 1st year coaching. 99 was there greatest year. 2000 they didn't even make the playoffs. They have and had always been content and that's on Popovich.
@@theophilusone7 They did make the playoffs in 2000 Duncan hurt his knee it was over before it even began
@@mythtek1 no. they didn't.
@@theophilusone7 Lol yes they did the Spurs lost to the Suns 3-1 in the 1st round in the 2000 playoffs
@@mythtek1 oh your one's of those,ok
Although it didn't work out, it was great watching Dennis play with the Admiral.
As a kid born and raised in San Antonio we loved Rodman as much as we loved Robinson...
Dennis Rodman enjoyed life period
shoot around could be at 8 in the am Dennis would party all the way until 6 then go out that same night and grab 30 rebounds he's just that great
when that man said "get solid" i lost it. single funniest thing I've ever heard. i was not ready for that🤣
the platinum hair actually didn't look bad
It was so controversial back then lol
Not to mention the guy in his prime probably had one of the most impressive physiques in the league.
Him and d rob David Robinson no cap lol
Rodman did things his way, enjoyed TF Outta Life n he didn't give a FUCK who didn't like it or Care of how n what people think or feel & l respect that. If there's 3 things u can say about him. Loyal, Played & Partied Hard AF!!!
super duper underrated influence on san antonio culture.. all in good time
After he left the Pistons and when I saw him in San Antonio and his hair was blond and he was playing more and more defense and was rebounding I knew the next time he went to was going to win some championships.
he's not conventionally handsome, but he has a striking unique look to him....
so San Antonio got rodman turnt up. Even though he's been turnt. SA should've kept him.
Right, David Robinson was Mvp cause of Rodman
They(the culture) never embraced Worm
We ended up getting Tim Duncan two years later. Who needs rodman.
@@MrCandlewax mybad, idk Spurs Drafted Tim Duncan. I thought he played for Seattle Supersonics and New York Knicks back in the early 90s. 🪓
Coming off a suicide attempt in the off season, the spurs really dropped the ball of being supportive of Rodman and what he still managed to do on the court at a extremely high level.
The green hair on point.
He's a guy who can be a major asset when used right. You can argue Bob Hill didn't know how to use him in San Antonio. You can also argue Rodman hurt himself; he missed team meetings, showed up late to practice, actually played lazy D sometimes (left guys open who could shoot so he could go after the rebounds if they missed).
Ultimately they probably win the title in '95 if Popovich takes the coaching job prior to that season, but who knows?
Rodman didn't like Popovich either.
Dennis was in peak shape and hustled every play with that franchise of old farts and hasbeens.
The Spurs were morons for letting Dennis go. Especially in a straight up trade for Will Perdue??? Dennis was the best defender and rebounder in the league
blame pop tbh he shipped him out. pop’s system is a top down approach. he didn’t learn how to handle a superstar until duncan and even then manu.
It led to the Spurs getting Tim Duncan. So they weren't morons after all.
Phil Jackson showed Pop how it’s done.
Can you imagine Rodman, Robinson and Duncan playin togetha. That definitly woulda been a Big Three. Of course, Rodman woulda had to move back to the 3, unless Duncan got injured.
Najee Nixon He could’ve help the Spurs win titles just like he did in Chicago. The Spurs like choir boys to play for them so off course he wasn’t gonna fit in, but San Antonio knew what they were getting with him.
Rodman was a great player, I wish things could have worked out in San Antonio. But David was right about San Antonio, we want out team to be good on and off the basketball court.
Robinson and duncan were some very hard working and respectful individuals who had class on and off the basketball court.
That coming from a Denver Nuggets fan.
yeah but saying that’s what san antonio is a city just of ppl who are conservative and stuff was silly of him to say. this is why we have the “lame” reputation. keep branding ourselves as a “no fun” city and no ones gonna wanna come play here, legacy be damned.
It sounds like he says "love me or hate me I am going to get a salad"
Couldnt stand Rodman on the spurs. His exit is exactly what the organization needed.

gracias denis rodman.......................crack
I look at Ron Artest and I think of him as somethin like Dennis, with better offense, less reboundin skills and a whole lot of attitude. Rodman was a better defender, of course.
I can't help but wonder if The Admiral had embraced "the odd couple" pairing more, if San Antonio could have won it all in one of those MJ-less seasons. I get where both sides were coming from, but I sense Admiral never truly understood or respected Dennis, and that had to impact the team to a degree. They could have really embraced and marketed that pairing.
Nobody understood or respected Rodman as a person. Even MJ didn't talk to him his whole time in Chicago because he didn't respect or cared to understand him. But they did all respect his rebounding skills. San Antonio just didn't have the patience nor leadership to deal with Rodman antics like Chicago did.
It's funny that Robinson gave him that Christian spiel knowing that Popovich, Duncan, Manu and Parker are some of the most liberal left wing non-religious players out there. Rodman still wouldn't have blended well with them even though Popovich and crew were not Christians at all.
migol1984 how do you know nobody of them are religious?
Pop and Manu are liberal but dunno about Parker and Duncan being so. could be though
Maybe Robinson just wanted rodman to know God and accept Jesus Christ.
On judgement day rodman and everyone who refused to know God and be obedient to God and refuses to accept Jesus Christ and change their behavior are all going to be whining and begging God for forgiveness and calling on Jesus Christ for salvation.
@@teddee4572 amen to this post. 🙏
In his career, Rodman averaged 7 points and 13 rebounds per game.
joker7 ford 8
Niko jokic for my Denver Nuggets is putting up mind boggling stats point wise , rebounding wise and assist wise.
He has a ton of triple doubles.
Must I say joker is a 7ft point guard, power toward and center all in one.
Spurs didnt know how to handle him. Bulls handled him fine.
He did his job in spurs 17 rebound per game in 2 seasons
What is the music name at 1:46?
San antonio siempre tuvo y tiene grandes figuras en la nba👍🏀
SONG AT 1.42??
Said the guy with a fake picture. One can only imagine what sort of gargoyle-like features you have.
The first draymond green
but one of the best.
He was a great rebounder and defender, but he was a horrible teammate. When he didn’t get his way, he pouted. His selfish behavior two years in a row in San Antonio really hurt the Spurs in the playoffs. From cheap shots on Jazz players, to taking off his shoes on the sidelines, to being late to games, to refusing to double team Rockets players, he was all about Dennis.
Yep. It's not a coincidence he was out of the league shortly after his Bulls stint. If it wasn't for the Bulls he would have found himself out of the league a whole lot sooner. Shaq said he was his worst teammate. It really took a special team with great leadership to ring in Rodman's antics.
song:
battle of the mounds remix
he quit on the team
When did rodman first got his tattoos ?
whats the music
Spurs are conservative team
Knarf28 Coc nah, SA is liberal as fuck. Robinson was the leader of the team back then and he's always been a bible thumper. They never meshed too well.
? san antonio is probably the most conservative big city in texas... you might be confusing it with austin
Austin is crazy liberal not SA. you got em mixed up.
ProtectedSouls4 I'm from SA and its liberal.
San Antonio is the equivalent of San Francisco in Texas, but the Spurs at that time were hella conservative.
what was the last word Dennis said before the game with his blonde hair ?
Scottie Pimpen "get solid"
+Scottie Pimpen solid
Robinson seems like a snob. Maybe it is really high integrity but he should have respected Dennis for his hard work and humble ways.
How do you know David didn't have respect for Rodmans hard work and humble ways?
Robinson was actually a humble hard working basketball player.
I'm a nugget fan who use to watch as Denver and San Antonio battle on the basketball court in the Midwest division for many years, and I respected the way he carried hisself.
Rodman was just an arrogant circus act who didn't care about no one but rodman.
He should of took into consideration that it is the fans who pay for his basketball salary. If fans didn't go to games there would be no money for any team to exist. I remember when Dennis first entered the NBA, he was a very quiet person just doing his job on the basketball court.
The success and bad attitude the Pistons had in the late 1980's must of got to his head, because along with time,he changed and became very flamboyant.
I'm sure he respected Rodman's work ethic on the court when Rodman did his job. He claims to not care if people like him, but he clearly wanted to stand out--both with his style & on the stat sheet. Sean Elliott said that in the '95 WCF, what killed them more than Hakeem was Dennis leaving Horry open for 3's; he stayed in the lane & let him shoot so he could try to get more rebounds. I liked watching Rodman play, but he wasn't ONLY about winning like he claims--he reveled in the attention.
@@darshloaf Rodman is an interior defense asset. Also, Robert Horry is 6’10” good luck defending his 3’s (has anyone?) . The Spurs biggest failure was not putting Rodman on Hakeem entire series.

Nah, I was kidding.

18 boards a game? Gotdamn
does she really?
It worked,until olajuwon came
So that hair dresser is the one to blame for Dennis becoming weird
A proof talent is not enough.
But if a team like Chicago can tame Dennis Rodman for the time being, then why not?
The Bulls needs Dennis more than the other way around, in particular to contain Shaq.
Fast forward today, Rodman is prominent in design shirts worn by teens. Guess he's their an ideal or justified example of woke culture.
San Antonio went fine after Dennis. Despite their boring image, most of the players are someone to look up to both on and off the court.
Bad fit for him it took the bulls
If rodman doesn't get right with God and accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and he will be joining Kobe and all the other rich and famous celebrities and athletes in hell when judgement day arrives.
Yeah well gues what buddy hell has been proven to exist and if there were such a place then that would prove your god is a savage barbarian and a physcopathic killer.
I meant hasn't proven to exist
Keep posting Ted.

whats wrong with you?
