Dennis Rodman's (10pts/21rebs/10asts) Triple Double vs. 76ers (1996)

  • Dennis Rodman's only triple double during his career. Rodman scores 10 points, grabs 21 rebounds and passes out 10 assists. Dennis dominates the boards, picks up a technical as always, even makes a three. January 16, 1996.

      Peter Alick (Hyrulyamoto) let’s say 90% of the rebounds led to points his total points score defensive wise is 32 points (only counting 2 pointers) 21 points off assist.10(P)+32®+21(A)= 63 points Rodman made for the bulls offensively and defensively that night.

      incredible916 I’m sure if someone did the math of how much extra points they get just off offensive boards from him it would be far past anyone in nba history not only for himself but just how many times was Micheal or Scottie able to score off of them it must be a crazy number

      Should they all completed:
      21 rebs = 42 pts
      10 asts = 20 pts
      10 pts = 10 pts
      Total=== 72 pts

    See, one of the things that people often underestimate about Rodman is his basketball IQ on _both_ ends of the floor. You hear about The Worm's rebounding and defense all of the time, but remember that he figured out the triangle offense very quickly whereas many players coming into the offense often struggle with it for awhile before catching on. Rodman almost always knew when to make the right pass at the right time.

So if you're an opposing center and you know that all you have to do is the rebound over 6'3 Westbrook then it should be easy for them right? Nah Westbrook is still out rebounding the big men on his opponents team almost every night. If it was easy other players would try to do it too but other big men aren't even averaging 10 rb a game. My ultimate team, from all the players to ever play, has Rodman on it without a doubt. He could score if you need him to, he will always get you those rebounds, and hes always ready to go never runs out of steam and always gives 110%. Havent seen anyone hustle as hard as Dennis did, goof on his style or personality is fine but respect what he did out there is real.

    One aspect of these classic games that seems to be lost is the memory of Detroit vs Chicago. I watched the Chicago/Detroit rivalry. Isiah was the 'Captain' of that bad boys squad, but Dennis was one of the eager lackeys. He was the young guy that Isiah could whisper to 'hey, long after the play, push them in the back, Scottie has a bad back, it might put him out of the game'. And Dennis would just do it. And Dennis comes to play for Chicago. As a fan I didn't know how to feel. The other time in sports I had this same feeling was when Bret Farve went to play for the Vikings. It's that same kind of situation. But man, Chicago loved Dennis. There was nearly a year long period where Dennis's hype and popularity was above Jordan's.

    Rodman was a showman. A performer. But most of all a baller. Watch any clip of any game he's in....he's everywhere. Not just boards.

    Living in Milwaukee...the Bucks were crummy as usual in 1995-1996 but I remember that whole era during the Bulls 2nd 3-peat is was an event when that team came to town. People were there just to watch the show and observe greatness.

    D.R. could shoot the 3 ball if he wanted to. People sleep on his shooting skills, because of his rebounding prowess. He didn't like shooting, he'd rather rebound, block, pass and do all the dirty work to help the team win

    That behind-the-back pass from Pippen to Rodman was sweet. I think the big 3 that Chicago had is the best of all time. Kareem, Magic, and Worthy would be right there too.

    Dennis Rodman is the type of NBA player I like: a hard-working team fighter with no superstar diva complex. The only players today I see with a playing philosophy like Rodman's are Joakim Noah and Rajon Rondo.
