Nah I played the shit out of TPM PS1 back in the day, it was extremely ambitious for being a tie-in. It's not perfect by any means but it's an extremely interesting game and well I guess I can look past the flaws for nostalgia. Calling it rubbish is ridiculous.
If I'm being real I don't know how many PS1 games really hold up super well as it is. It was an ugly and clunky era in general.
This game was considered trash at the time turn ya nostalgia goggles off and realise compared to the games at the time this is massively below the mark
RE1-3, Syphon Filter, Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis 2, Tenchu Stealth Assassins, are just some examples of PS1 games that hold up better than this does.
Petroglyph is STILL putting out small updates for Empire at War and they WANT to make a sequel for it. Disney needs to let them do it.

Phantom Menace is probably the original code running though a PS1 Emulator. It probably took one dude one workday to get it going. My guess is that, combined with the movie anniversary, is why it's available.
Battlefront 2 from 2005, the force unleashed, yet I'd like remasters to come not just with a graphical lifting but also a reworked gamefeel keeping rules as close as possible to the original ones
Thought Jedi Power Battles was better then Phantom Menace they should’ve released Rebel Assault 2, Masters of Teräs Käsi and Jedi Power Battles also other then Rogue Squadron games they should re-release Star Wars the Clone Wars or Bounty Hunter on modern consoles
Bounty hunter is available on playstation tho, I got a digital copy when I ordered the battlefront edition ps4

About the content draught: hopefully that's ending. This year's Outlaws will be the first big post-EA-exclusivity release and hopefully we'll see more about the others upcoming games soon - pr at least new announcements.
My biggest gripe with Star Wars gaming these days is that Asmodee/Fantasy Flight, the company that makes the Star Wars tabletop RPG, tabletop wargames, card games, etc is doing a FANTASTIC job and is very prolific, but they are very restricted by their contract regarding what they can release digitally. So SW, once one of the most influential tabletop games out there, is badly handicapped when compared to the likes of DnD and Warhammer. I was hopeful that the end of EA exclusivity would mean a change there as well, but nothing so far.
It's two years almost to the day since Respawn announced they're developing a Star Wars game, they're probably not even half-way done but I'm much more excited for that.
I really want to acquire and modify small capital ships, just like how you built and specialized your bases in the original X-COM 1988. That would scale well with a conflict within a single sector of space which would be awesome to explore in detail. It would also allow for boarding actions and possibly a bit of space combat.
I don't think we need another galactic scale tactical strategy game, or a small tactics game on single planet or even disparate planets. Give us medium scale! Corvettes, frigates, small cruisers hopping around in Hutt space or some Imperial remnant warlord's territory.
I can't believe this got re-released and not remade lol. I owned it on pc back in the day and I too couldn't get past the 2nd level and got mad eventually. Though i have major nostalgia for that first level on tattooine
The game was so unforgiving, as kids my cousin and I used to spend every Saturday and Sunday at our grandparents, taking turns slogging our way through the game.
I remember liking the phantom menace game back in the day. I don't think it was the PS1 version though, maybe the windows version? Also Podracer was the best Episode 1 game :)
Agreed about Racer - That's one I'm super glad has been made available again!
I'm still waiting for KOTOR Remake to come.
Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary
I actually liked "E1: The Phantom Manace", was one of the first "original" games I got as a present from my mother.
It was clunky and hard to play - until you learned what to do, but that was kind of the standard for many games from the late 90s.
Also, if I remember correctly - the trick with Panaka was using his "side step" ability, to dodge the blaster bolts flying your way. You also didn't "burst" long series, but instead fired some "priming shot", then tried to follow it with other ones.
The levels with Qui Gon & the bosses were resolved with his double jump & attack from above - for whatever reason, he was doing much more/taking less damage that way.
From what I recall, the last levels - with Obi Wan in the Palace's power beam rooms, and Amidala's way to capture the Viceroy, were much more annoying.
the reason people are fond of this game is that there was a Star Wars GTA portion in Mos Espa that everyone remembers. It was amazing at the time.

I would have much preferred to see Episode I Jedi Power Battles ported rather than the Phantom Menace
Even with the release of the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection from Aspyr failed to please fans of a horrible re-release of a game that just turned 20 years ago this year. What a total embarrassment, that tells you that Star Wars today is in a very bad position and needs a strong explanation from the developers of what went wrong in the first place. Just a shame to watch such an iconic franchise dying in front of our very eyes.
Star Wars Force Commander needs a remaster, that game was completely forgotten about.
Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 would be so big for me. I only played the 1st one on the N64 as I bought a PS2 at that time and never had a gamecube. I would absolutely love to play them.
I remember playing Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and I agree with all of your criticisms. I would definitely love to see a Rogue Squadron Trilogy remake as even today they are among some of the best Star Wars games ever made. I hope we get to see the other Dark forces games remade as well having Attack of the Clones and Episode 3 getting a release. the mid 2000s were the golden age of Star Wars games and hopefully these games as well as others like KOTOR 1 remake get released.
TFS was one of a hand full of games i had for the PS1 at the time, so completed it countless times. Would love a remaster of Supremacy, X-Wing Alliance and a fixed Yoda Stories.
I want Shadows of the Empire remastered so badly, I would love to see that game come back
Don't forget the Rebel Assault games. I used to play those all the time.
That's why Star Wars needs to resurrect that beautiful game studio once called LUCASART. I've also want Disney to Remaster Rogue Squadron and my first ever Star Wars game that i've played when i was 9 years old: Shadows of the Empire.

I played PS2 TFU and it's camera is even worse than the PS3 version.
We cant just rush stuff lol , Respawn is literally making 3 starwars games atm.
I would gush if I could play rogue squadron 2 or 3 on a modern remaster or emulator. The first one is fine but it's clunky and doesn't handle well compared to 2 and 3.
As a guy who always has a huge adoring knack for retro gaming (especially if it's of the endearingly clunky kind; see Deus Ex, for one) and a huge feeling of non-hype for current new and shoddily easy releases nowadays... I HIGHLY DISAGREE WITH YA. FOR SHAME!!!
0:50: So? The PS2/Wii/PSP take on TFU has way more coherence than the watered down PS3/Xbox 360/Wii U release.
Pity the game isn't also in the PC though. Always a waste, console exclusives, and it's always a blessing when the likes of, say, Hogwarts Legacy wise up and put their exclusive content to multiplatform releases after a while.
Personally they should let Santa Monica and Insomniac make some Star Wars game.
By the way, the PC version of TFU2 never got all the DLC, so I guess you literally can't play it all.
If we are talking about remasters and not remakes, I'd say the Star Wars Arcade game from... 1994, I think?
As I agree disney has a habit of butchering seris they acquire how tf is a release bad if it's meant for memory's now EA battlefront is a shitshow lol
Okay, I sort of disagree with you. The first few levels as Obi Wan weren't THAT bad and had decently designed levels where it doesn't hand hold you very much which is what I miss in AAA games now and how you have a dedicated interact button, but when you play as Qui Gon and Pinaka...yeah the game is honestly pretty bad, they try to be more ambitious with how they seem "open ended" when in reality they poorly explain everything to you.
I level skipped and got to the end and while it was still not good it was sort of bearable but my god was the level design stupid, why would the Trade Federation place a keycard on top of a pillar where the ceiling is? The Darth Maul fight was terrible and is just padded for the sake of it, Obi Wan force jumped pretty quickly in the movie. In the game? He has to do nonsensical platforming and puzzles before reaching Maul again.
I sort of liked the game at first but overall, the Attack of the Clones tie in games and the Episode 3 tie in game were ALOT better made by comparison.
It was pretty questionable to re release this game at all but it seems Sony's catalog they can even put on the Premium Classics are their 1st party games and Disney stuff. In the off chance that 3rd party games make it to the Premium, you can't even buy it.

It's certainly not a good game, but if they put the PC version that seems to have looked and played at least a little better than this PS1 garbage on Steam, I'd absolutely chuck 5 or 10 bucks at it for nostalgia's sake. I mean, how many Star Wars games let you take a Jedi on a homicidal rampage through the streets of Tatooine? It's truly a unique experience lol

I couldn't agree more about the Rogue Squadron trilogy. Spent so so many hours in those games, especially Rebel Strike with its multiplayer and co-op missions

@djdjdijon You need to read carefully. Exclusive means it is only available on said console. Why would I mention or praise Xbox when all the games you just listed are available elsewhere?
