The Ori arc was truly good. This epic invasion scene through the supergate. Morena Baccarin as the Ori prophet Adria and the Goa'uld systemlord Baal who was able to trick her despite her power. I always like your Stargate content.
“Hallowed is the [actress that should have been filming more episodes of Firefly]”
Wasn't her fault. The production company is at fault. THEY pulled the plug not her!
Many thousands of Fans tried to get Firefly back into production, but the screams fell on Deaf Ears. The ratings were terrible and the Production Company scrubbed it.
It wasn't making money for them.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.
@@clarkstartrek I know. I was there
Great character, fully realized by a wonderful actress.
The Brown Coats will rise again!!! 🤠👍
Firefly will return, one way or another
I really enjoyed the Ori arc of SG-1. I was bummed that they canceled the show before it really got fleshed out. I mean, yeah, they did more or less finish it with the Ark of Truth but I think it would have been better for it to run through another season where they could have really fleshed it out into something amazing.
It would be awesome... Ori, is something unique to Stargate.
I picture a season 11 set mostly in the original galaxy as they travel through the supergate in the odessy, cause that whole galaxy is unexplored. Maybe also spend more time exploring the history of the ancients and how the whole situation even got created in the first place (I think the ori as an explanation for the ancients no interference policy mentioned in the video is something that would have been interesting, it kind of makes them look a bit better as they aren't helping not just cause of being the worst but to not become like them).
It would have also have been great to see the wider affects of the invasion, which is the one big criticism I have for the last two seasons, maybe have Jonas return as his world was conquered (plus it would be cool to have everyone back for the final season) and also explore other characters and worlds previously visited and how they're doing.
Season 11 is definitely one that had a lot of potential.
Julian Sands is an incredible actor. Loved that story line.
Indeed. The tomorrow man and arachnophobia as examples
@@alanmike6883 warlock is one of my favourite movies
Loving the StarGate content. Keep it coming!
Thanks elaine. I finished my sgi rewatch but not the ark of truth tv movie..( the raod to perdition ( hell ) is paved with good intentions
I preferred the Ori to the Goa'uld and think Stargate is one few shows were the later series are the better ones.
I would of told the Ori about the Pegasus Humans as well and let them and the Wraith fight it out lol
HA! I'd watch that timeline! 😄
I think I remember reading a fanfiction about how the Ori and Wraith fought against each other.
I’ll be forever mad that star gate was canceled just as the conflict with the Ori was getting good. The Christian analogue was a rich vein of story telling that unfortunately we didn’t get to see go very far.
Hallowed are the Ori 🙌
Dammit you beat me to it.
Hallowed _ARE_ the Ori
I wonder who, or what, the Ori worshiped before they ascended.
Me
0:10-0:34. One of the most interesting speeches in the series, especially as slightly modified I can see a religious human on earth say the exact same thing, a crusade or jihad or any other type of holy war.
For me it has to be Adrian like she is so powerful she even survive the super weapon that’s meant to kill anything that’s on the car
It was my understanding that she came into existence AFTER the use of the super weapon!!! 🤠👍
"have mercy. I was blind now I see"-Doci ark of truth
Stargate was a fu series thar was allowed 5o grow before corporate product management and it shows. love the Stargate Universe
Alteran is very similar to alterer which means one who alters. Wondering if the writers were thinking of this when they came up with that name because it fits their personality of having differing opinions and quite often robust discussions about them.
As much as I love SG-1, the Ori storyline was my least favorite and would've preferred they ended the series with the previous season.
Great video Elaine, just my 2-cents and looking forward to your next video. 🤓🍪😋👍✨🔥💥
I agree to disagree...for the Almighty Algorithm. It all boils down to: your hero is only as good as the villian that must be overcome is bad. What with the Jaffe rebellions and unification, the Goa'uld were all but defeated.
EDIT: plus other mitigating circumstances.
This is awesome. A follow-up could be the individual players involved.
I believe julian sands passed away recently. ( played the main ori prier )
No, he's still alive and acting.
@@the_once-and-future_king. now I must google that...no, according to Wiki he's still alive. Such a powerful performance, though.
see, I've always found the argument that the Ancients didn't allow worship of them a line that was bs in view of what they did in Pegasus, they both lived with and encouraged stories and legends of them with the name Ancestors and the same with the Jaffa in the Milky Way, proponents would argue they didn't take this power but I call bs on that as well, I just think they were more standoffish than the Ori, not directly affecting things but still reaping the benefits of it.
Well, i still am curious about what would have happened if Oris decided to go to Pegasus instead of Milky Way. Oris VS Wraiths. Oris remain ascended beings, without burdens of not interference. We saw ascended Ancient wiped out Wraith (Chaya) after all... So, what would happen if ascended Ori decided to clean Pegasus galaxy directly (without sending humans to fight)?
Because Pegasus also has a lot of humans as food tank for Wraiths... Wouldn't that have been more productive to go and wipe out Wraiths, then being seen as saviors instead of invaders, then collecting all the remaining humans in Pegasus as followers, without having to deal with opponents?
Ascended Ancients basically can't fight Oris, because the result is they "would fight forever"?
Also... Ancients don't want to deal with Oris. They "escaped" from the conflict in their own galaxy, before they ascended... But after Ascension, they never returned to try to deal with Oris, also ascended beings. They claim they don't interfere with "material beings" as rule... But why not going to deal with ascended Oris?
Also, it's quite not clear what is this higher place... They are on a place, but still in the universe. And if they putted a "veil" on a far away galaxy to avoid Ori to see humans or else, doesn't that mean they can see Oris to be sure Oris don't see them?
So... What's the deal of the Ancients. They are ascended beings... But what did they do since thousands of years, as a civilisation of ascended beings? Any society, whatever level, has to have a purpose.
Oris have a clear purpose, they gain some kind of "power" trough having followers. So... They have Celestis, they order preachers, preachers deal with collecting followers... They do something. They monitored in a sense.
What Ancients do to pass time? They are here... Outcast ascended Ancient like Oma deals a lot with lower life, she has a purpose, help to enlightenment. What is the deal with ascended Ancients?
Also... They are totally hypocrites. Because, even if evolved don't interfere, they evolved from Ancients / Alterans... Ancients build stargates, tech, and let their "toys" at the disposal from anyone. That is an undirect intervene.
Even so, when first Ancients reached ascension... There were still "flesh and blood" Ancients just beside them. Imagine you reach this level, trough meditate and else... You have to be helped. You have to learn. Maybe all by yourself, but if the only way to reach alone this level is that, why did they regroup after being evolved, and together decided to not help at all their own "previous" kind (remained Ancients)? Isn't it the mere definition of selfishness?
It's a failure as beings... Because, they are the same people in essence. They are energy beings with their mind from before... They don't born as ascended beings, with 0 memory... They reach this state. Most of them literally regrouped to meditate... Sharing their experience in a way. If you regroup, there is reasons. So what, some died, some quitted, some succeeded in the same group?
And after, the succeeded ones literally see everything, but don't care if other succeed, or if the success amount decreased to the point nobody would never reached this higher state?
So... When this pest was send by Oris, wiping out Ancients to the point they AGAIN quit a galaxy (funny to considerate changing galaxy means you let everything behind to restart) and reached Pegasus... Wasn't it totally illogical? Because... The "veil" was settled at this point, right? Letting a false image of a galaxy empty of life... So... They hidden Lantiens, so they could go with Atlantis elsewhere? And Lantiens knew that, right? Isn't it interfere with them directly?
And later on, when they came back on earth, 10.000 years ago... Seeing Goa'Ulds, and the mess in the Milky Way... Millions years after their departure for Pegasus... What would have the ascended beings do at this point?
... Just saying, maybe ascended being means top evolution as specie, but i think Ancients where at the top of their game when they settled gates, colonized Milky Way, participated to alliances with other races, send Destiny... Millions years ago. Ascended beings and Lantiens from Pegasus seem like dumbass for me. They create more problems than growing as civilization.
The ancient beings are following their own path, individually. I dont think they are a single species anymore. They are ascended, and that means they get to dictate what it means, as long as they don't interfere with the material space. They probably are doing something, who knows?
Anybody think it ironic that Adria referred to the jaffa as a " backwards people". How did a society of religious fanatics advance to the level of their ancient brothers.
Hints of some gnostic ideas here, as far as the human soul and faith having some tangible energy which "higher" beings covet and want to steal. As far as starting with good intentions... I don't know how you could become so corrupted but I guess we have plenty of examples in the real world. The Ancients could be pretty arrogant at times but they stuck to a strong code of ethics, which implies good intentions even if it was flawed thinking
Ori just reminded me of that tired trope of the enemy that gets infinitely more powerful, so the heros have to become more powerful, then the next enemy has to become more powerful, etc. Its the DBZ "THIS ISNT EVEN MY FINAL FORM" and I kind of lost interest in Stargate when they came to the scene. How do you defeat gods? And then if you do, whats possibly next? The Lucian Alliance was a better enemy because they were a realistic enemy. They were a criminal cabal, taking advantage of a power vacuum created by the death of the Goauld.
In short, a true story.
Sweet 👍
The ori were great villains but the replicator were best villains. Star gate last year of shows were best and put the TV production easily in top ten of all time science fiction TV shows .
I wonder where the Alterans parked the first big escape ship when they came to Earth. On the moon in a crater? Bottom of the ocean?
Good question
Their religious beliefs? Who or what were they worshipping? I like to imagine the idea that the ancient Janus had ascended, and decided to go back in time to witness the big bang, but in doing so, his energy turned out to be what jump-started the big bang, causing it......and the Ori were actually, unbenounced to them, worshipping Janus
🤙🏼🤙🏼
Hallowed are the ori .
Amen
...it should be spelled Orai, and Dosai, etc.
Ori (-●-)
The similarities between the Ori and Christianity were a major turn-off for me. Luckily, the Pryors were more like Mormons and Jehovah’s witnesses than Christian Missionaries, which redeemed the series.
I mean this whole series was a theological criticism of religion as a whole. Most pagan religions are dead aside from Hinduism so they couldn't defend themselves. Why shouldn't Christianity, Islam, or Judaism be put under a similar lense?
Are we ever going to see her Nerdyness?😉
Wdym?
It's basically meant to be Christianity
Though it could just as well be a representation of the Islamic crusades of the Middle East that started many hundreds of yrs before the Pope 2nd first crusade(iir that correctly) like for eg Muhammad's Tabuk Crusade in 630. You either went full Islam or paid the Jizya tax(though you were eventually killed no matter if you paid or not in most cases). And then there was the Abu Bakr Crusade which didn't even give non believers the chance to pay the tax and killed everyone. Basically they started with Muhammad in 630 until well, now with the Caliphates we see still. They just mostly crusade against each other's sects.
Many forget the Middle East was filled with Buddhists(yea they were all over the Silk Road until Muhammad and then his successors), Christians, Jews, Byzantines(Greek religious/ethnic group)and many others. And I'm not saying this as a whataboutism. Fk Christianity. They forcefully and sneakily converted my people(Norse)and destroyed our culture and religion. But I'm just saying this could just as easily be a rep of Islamic supremacy. We can't forget they're not any better when it comes to fire and the sword.
Not realy, Yes there are some references to christianity like Vala mal doran Giving Birth without any sexual intercourse. And You have That old Spreading the religion by the sword, Which Christians Did in europe and beyound. But the Nature of The Ori is Nowhere simmiliar To Abrahamic God, They are probabbly close to Annunaki who Created Humans and Made them their slaves. Which Fits nicely with Ori agenda.
Reminds me of Islam
Reminds me of most religions
Medieval Christianity was like this too and that's the real inspiration for them. Although Islam has also always behaved this way so I guess that's true as well.
