Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

I enjoy how you 2 get things done even with no experience. I like when Nate says there is no way to know for sure that something will work until you try it out. Yes! They are the masters of doing things with no training/experience. Lol Nate can go from no running experience to running a Marathon on the Moon 😂 He's truly shown us how mindset is everything. There is a rack for surfboards that can hang on the side of the van. That way you don’t have to block the solar panels. Also, you can just grind of the bolts of the solar panels and rearrange them in ton of your new roof rack that way you can get the space you wanted for the deck. Hope all goes great!

From DIY nightmares to tool proficiency!! Im SO PROUD of the pair of you.....major tasks done with zero real disasters and I wasnt scared for Nate's safety once, not even when he was on the roof. Mexico is an amazing place to visit but if you are worried maybe stay in contact with a local from wherever you visit just so you know how things flow but otherwise most videos on UA-cam are already a tremendous amount of usefulness!

Nate! Make the whole roof rack a deck, then add New solar panels over the rear. Then rewire the new panels to the solar charge controller. Easy peasy.

Weigh your van fully loaded, your build and adds may be pushing the max. Then take to MB to have alignment corrected (all conversions need alignment after conversion). Don't want you breaking down in Baja.
Yesterday I dumped the #2 bucket in our composting toilet; first time in 6 months (it was only used twice). No smells. We use aspen shavings for pets, available from Walmart, most pet stores, etc. No need to moisturize, uncompress, just pour in the bucket and go. Literally.
It was Soooo, easy but then we have a C-head. Watching the both of you struggle with that Nature's Head confirms I made the right head choice.

I just happened to come across some old nostalgia pictures and open UA-cam to find this weeks video. For some reason it just hit me that y’all changed the Kara and Nate with y’all’s location intro part. I remember watching all of the old vlogs with the coffee cup, the logo, location, and what vlog number it was. Out of all the videos you have posted this is my favourite video. I don’t really know why but if I want to watch something I always come back to this same video. All your videos are truly amazing but for some weird reason this one would definitely be my favourite.
My two cents on the deck: it should essentially fold in half, and you flip it open over the panels when in use, and flip it closed when done to re-expose the panels. It should also help the open side stay cleaner. The marine flooring was a good idea!
