Thanks for the love homie, we'll be out to NY soon.. and well bring the awd cop car.. and maybe a 2020 scat im doing a 429ci stroker in! Give you some hands on with them of course... or the cop car and my old 6.1.. either way.. we are coming!

Is it possible to have both tho? I have a 2020 scar pack shaker and I’d like to start off with a cam and some headers and chill at about 500whp for a while, but can I forced air to the same set up later?
@@luisrincon3355 to supercharge the “right” way you should forge the internals, or your stuck at about 6-7 boost safely. Most folks just trade up to a Hellcat at that point. But a bolt on/cammed 392 is nothing to sneeze at!
Not being mean but 500 and 500 is a 10 sec car on a light car not a 44-4600 pound one . Hellcats make 640-650 whp and 615 wtq stock and can barely get in to the high 10’s in perfect conditions
Yeah man - I'm so on the fence Magnuson SC vs Cam and long tubes as you described. SC is about 10k installed with tune. Going to have them price me out a CAM set-up.
I've been vouching for camming 392's over supercharging. If you want to reliably supercharge, you need to forge it, which is a fair bit of cash for both. Meanwhile, a cam with some other basic mods can do you just as well, and it won't be as hard on your engine as forced induction.
Always wondered about longevity of the engine once you throw a cam and all these other horsepower mods at the 392. It’s just something no one ever comments on

Before he even beginning the video I am just going to state the main reason why I want to or would cam my engine is to get a longer rev range. Yes it changes the way the horsepower and torque flow from the engine but not all of us are straight-line burners and a little bit more horsepower and a few hundred more RPMs would be nice in the corners. Now if you can get a mean dirty sound along with it, definitely.
Love when you pull from the archives. Like you always say, « either is a solid option ». If you start your NA build, you go up from there. One more horsepower! 😂
Great video man. I was raised with brothers and an uncle that believed in big cams and solid cranks. Still not used to the whine of a turbo or blower, to each his of course. Just big cams that made the car rock back and forth just idling. I love it and thanks again for this vid.
Yeah, camming a 392 seems to be the smarter choice! Now I just gotta convince my wife to get rid of her 3 series and get one! 🤣 Oh and your car...good LORD that thing sounds AMAZING! I can only imagine what it sounds like in person!

it really depends on the shop. Cam will likely be around $4k for everything & headers can go on as you have the cam installed. All of these upgrades are expensive though - HP def isn't a cheap thing!
Could be the tune ? Im at 470 whp with lt headers, catless mids, exhaust, intake, ported tb and ported manifold. Should be going in this friday to retune for e85.

I've seen ppl pay anywhere from as low as $3k all the way up to $5k for just a cam install. Depending on what type of cam package they went with, if they just did a cam swap, or pulled the heads and replaced lifters, valve springs, pushrods, etc.
I’ve watched those videos from macbuilt and I believe he was also installing ported cylinder heads to achieve those horsepower numbers. I have to agree an na build is cool but you’re going to spend some money to get decent horsepower gains. Cai, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold, cam, ported heads, long tube headers and a catback exhaust will run you as much if not more than a forced air setup
You're correct - he does do some porting for these kinds of results. I thought it was only the heads though. Pretty impressive though N/A - wonder what kind of results he would get with a stroker kit added.
Thank you once again for your spectacularly informative and useful video. You're just about the best in this business and we, MOPAR Enthusiasts all appreciate you. Question: What d'you think about Short Tube Headers. Is it worth it? And about replacing the Camshaft. Which Camshaft does one use; Hellcat's or some other OEM cam? Thanks
I would skip shorty headers if you have a 392 or hellcat or if you're planning on camming or adding forced air. At that point you want long tubes. IN regards to best camshafts, that's a great question - I would reach out to MachBuild on IG. He seems to have a great thing going with Cammed Hemi's
Yezzir after watching @mackbuilt making some hits on the dyno youtube and just on the 6.1 producing 500hp all n/a. Of course since I'm running 06 MagSrt8 and his videos was enough for me to reach out. After getting in contact and chopp'n it up (him picking on my brain feeling me out lol) with him. I pulled the trigger. But without having to put too much out there, I will say this...it aint just a drop in cam! Keep up the good work still enjoying your content.
No i have this big (not huge though) lol custom grind cam sitting in my living room. I just hit 170,xxx so I figure if I want to get the most out of this motor before getting a piston and drop in kit. So I might as practically rebuild the heads I'll be replacing lots of the parts like lifters valve seats, upgrading the valve springs, guides and so on. I'm trying to get another set of heads to do that actually But whichever comes first and whichever fits the budget. My 06 MagSrt8 is literally my daily driver almost want to call it my work horse lol. My goal is to keep the drivability and make 500rwhp all naturally aspirated and when ever I want with a switch of the tune, swap out the rears with a pair of ET streets and connect a bottle of go (nitrous) fast for a 120-150 just for a night or day of fun and then after.the fun is over go home back to everyday norm... Its either that or just get the conversion plates from MMX and go with a hellcat supercharger lol havent completely decided 🤣 im just glad after speaking to @mackbuilt when I was placing my order for the cam. The decision to go with a custom gring allows me to have the room to grow with any direction to make more power unlike if I were to go with just the drop in cam... well it was kool to see his work and getting his name out. Trust me he appreciates you giving him a shout and the recognition on your channel. Take care and like always keep up the good content. Sorry for the (3 page letter) long as comment 😅
I've heard you can loose out on the bottom end when you get an aggressive cam, and long tube headers. That you sacrifice low end power for top end power when you get both of those. It's still pretty neat though.
I have a stock 392 running through a stock Chrysler 5.7 exhaust. The quiet exhausts costs me on the top end but I get over 400 lb-ft of torque from as low as 1500RPM all the way to 5000! I am at 426HP/425lb-ft dead stock. I believe with a cam, long tubes, etc I could also get to 500
my stock challenger scat 6 speed put 444 hp/ 443tq at the wheels, its going to get HRT stage 3 cam/ stainless power long tubes/ colder plugs/180 thermostat and a 93 octane dyno tune, I can't wait.. I hope its got a good sound, I know its gonna be near 500 hp at the wheels when its done.
Easily go for the cam as it will give you the best sound your gonna get from a v8 with a great gain of 100hp with proper tune and it leaves headroom for major mods down the line.
R/T Life yeah my girl wants the 2020 charger wide body with cam so when it’s ready I’ll give you the info on power and all that good stuff for your viewers.
My Jeep 392 is cammed. But personally I don't feel much of a difference 🤷🏾♂️ I been battling with myself if I wanna get headers or not. I heard it's a pain in the ass to do on Jeeps so it's costly. And Im guessing I'll probably get like 25hp out of them for 2000+$. Doesn't seem like a good value to me 🤔
I’m trying to figure out what I wanna do with my scatpack. Cam, supercharger, pro charger, fully built engine with all upgraded parts like pistons, lifters, pushrods, crankshaft, connecting rods. All forged. I wanna keep it reliable as much as possible still though :)
That's more than plenty of power for the streets. Plus you will have more reliability with a REASONABLE N/A build. Plus add a stroker to that, and you have an awesome car. For me if I my car was to be a daily, then N/A build all the way. It's one thing if the engine was built for boost. Outside of that for me power adders is just one more thing to go wrong. For me that's a big issue for a street car. I like RELIABILITY and speed to go hand and hand as much as possible. I'd go with a nice street cam swap with supporting mods, and if the budget permits a stroker as well.
Yeah those numbers are nice to cruise around and have the power to keep up with almost anything out there, 6.2 aside lol. But that's where I'd like to be with my 5.7, much work ahead.
But what is the cost of getting Cam and Headers buying and installing? For that matter what would a stroker kit cost for parts and install? If it about $5 to $6000 what's the point of cracking the motor open.
Great video, my buddies scat pac was running 514 WHP and he wanted more. He brought it up to 560 WHP, and guess what ? His transmission went out. He should have left it at 514 WHP !!!! Food for thought ? 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
You can get tuners to work on your RT remotely. Meaning they can email you tunes to load up. Is that something that interests you? Look into Hemifever or Greene Racing - both are very popular online tuners
Thanks bro I needed this video because I just got my 392 and I feel the need for more power and I want a hellcat but there’s no need for that I have the 392 Daytona with the dynamics package it’s a beautiful car and I dint know what way to go whippled or just FBO and a camm but I think this is more than enough for me … do you know what cam are these car running by any chance
yeah but when you do these modifications something has to give in a negative way. Numbers look good on paper all the time but what happens in real life? Would love to see a side by side dyno graph for comparison. stock vs modded. to reach those numbers, did the car lose low end torq and hp. Cant have that for a street car. Track yes. but i would wat the power it came with off the line. Im curious to know before i go this route.
I just did long tube headers and a cam and only made 451 to wheels? They said my intake is restrictive, so I bought a new intake. Hoping to get it re dynoed after. I had the work done at national speed Inc. It's a 2014 6.4 with only 25k miles.
Love your videos man!!! Question, coming from a 5.7 owner... I've heard you say a couple times that you can stay NA and get good power for way less money, but I've done the adding up and for long tubes, 3 inch piping, cam, intake manifold with an intake is gonna cost me the same amount, maybe even a little more with installation than going forced air. I want to get the aforementioned things done before I supercharge my build so I'm probably going to do it all anyway but just wondering where you're shopping for this stuff haha. Thanks again for the great content!
So, been watching your videos for awhile now! I have a 5.7L. I’m a bit confused on what your vehicle is. Was “blue” originally a 5.7L? I’m trying to do a build similar to your in my 2011 R/T. I’ve got your cam install and parts list but that video was a few years ago. What has changed since then? Is that cam you installed a few years ago the same cam you have to this day? Other than that, Love the content. Love the car! I get to order my stuff around May next year and can’t wait to achieve what you achieved over the years!
I am tempted in having Petty Garage do a full package to my Widebody Scatpack but then I will no longer use it as a daily driver. I think specific cars properly done could hold value but only if done by a place with a name and numbered like from Petty's Garage. Most typical garage upgrades tend to actually Depreciate a cars value as most used car buyers want something not messed with.
Mike Ysais i plan on doing this soon on my Durango SRT. Just need to know which cam is best to get for my application I will film it of course and out on my channel
I guess for me it would be performance gain vs cost vs reliability if that makes sense. Idk how strong 392s are with boost. "Heard that they dont do well with boost". I drive A LOT so id probably just cam it and hope its a bit more reliable than flrced induction althought you may not make as much. Edit: "heard they dont like boost" was a friend of mine lol
@@bri-manhunter2654 it's not the heat, the issue is the top ring land is very close to the top of the piston for emissions bs which makes the top ring land very thin and weak, boost will crack those ring lands then kaboom there goes your engine.
Richie Carbone. Yes, they did do that for emissions and it does not help the situation. However, it’s the tight tolerance of the ring lands touching together from extra heat of the boost causing the piston to Momentarily seize in the bore. The stock bottom end holds way more power when you just add ring gap. This has been proven by Richard Holdener multiple times, WyoTech dyno tuner got last 20 years.
R/T Life perfect thank you! if you do the cam do you HAVE TO do the long tube headers with it? and might be a dumb question but what if i just wanted to do the 426 stroker kit instead ? is that even logical or not normally done
This is EFI Specialties - 75 Potomac Creek Dr #101, Fredericksburg, VA 22405 If you have a Hemi this is the place you want to go for getting the most hp/torque out of cam/headers combo
Yes they do. Mackbuilt on Instagram has custom grind camshafts & installs everything. Dave tunes it - all in the same spot. Both know what they're doing
The one issue with stroking a 392 to 426 is it suddenly becomes very expensive if you want to build it up to handle a supercharger and reach very high horsepower and torque. Adding on high strength, ported and polished cylinder heads, you're looking at $16,000 for parts alone for the rebuild before you even begin thinking about adding the supercharger on... let alone the upgraded drivetrain behind the engine.
I just got a 2018 Daytona 392 and I’m looking to do some mods on it, I wanted to go with an NA build and all I have done right now is a cat delete and a throttle body spacer, if I was going to get cams/headers what brands would you recommend? And if I did that what tune would be the best to pair with it? I’m looking for a decent gain but I also want longevity because I plan to keep the car long term as a somewhat daily…
I just want tighter steering rack, short throw shifter, lighter, wider wheels, toyo r888r 305's and better throttle response. I'm in Michigan, where do I go for this?

I pulled the trigger. But without having to put too much out there, I will say this...it aint just a drop in cam! Keep up the good work still enjoying your content.
His cam is netting some awesome results. have you installed it yet?
That's why you get a converter that puts you where your power comes in
I have a stock 392 running through a stock Chrysler 5.7 exhaust.
This is my next car im saving up for it now
I don't blame you
Easily go for the cam as it will give you the best sound your gonna get from a v8 with a great gain of 100hp with proper tune and it leaves headroom for major mods down the line.
yup - the dyno showed the cam/long tubes can add a lot of power to these 392's. 500+whp is a lot of performance to play with
R/T Life yeah my girl wants the 2020 charger wide body with cam so when it’s ready I’ll give you the info on power and all that good stuff for your viewers.
@@dad2817 obviously if your running a cam your gonna have fbo's other wise your a idiot in my opinion lol.
Doesn't seem like a good value to me 🤔
I love your videos bro. Keep them up
Thanks man, I really appreciate it
That evil laugh got my dog going nuts!
Nice charger man! Love the hood
thanks man - def appreciate it.
I’m trying to figure out what I wanna do with my scatpack. Cam, supercharger, pro charger, fully built engine with all upgraded parts like pistons, lifters, pushrods, crankshaft, connecting rods. All forged. I wanna keep it reliable as much as possible still though :)
Only problem is that if your area has emissions, you couldn’t cam or long tube it. That’s my issue, that’s why I would probably just supercharge mine.
It's criminal how much people don't prefer N/A SET UPS
Yeah those numbers are nice to cruise around and have the power to keep up with almost anything out there, 6.2 aside lol. But that's where I'd like to be with my 5.7, much work ahead.
500whp is plenty - you’re right, not much is hanging with you. They would need forced air
Very informative naturally aspirated is much cheaper rout and those are impressive numbers.
I was impressed with the N/A numbers - certainly worth going down that road.
But what is the cost of getting Cam and Headers buying and installing? For that matter what would a stroker kit cost for parts and install? If it about $5 to $6000 what's the point of cracking the motor open.
Now that’s a charger 😍
def a nice ride
Bro your car sounds insane!
Ive heard its pretty expensive to do a cam swap on the hemi.
depends on the shop & labor costs. I would say $3500-4000 for everything installed is about what most would pay
R/T Life links to where to get a good cam for the 392?
Challenger clean as hell
agreed
Awesome video very informative!
Thank you, I really appreciate it. Hopefully it helps some people looking into modding up their 392
Still great video with a ton of good points made
Do we know by chance what rims are on the green challenger at 4:27?
Very awesome man. Those are some serious NA builds man. Good to know they exist. I would probably go NA if I did anything serious to a 392.
Yah an n/a build would be tempting. The 392 seems to bet really solid results
Great video, my buddies scat pac was running 514 WHP and he wanted more. He brought it up to 560 WHP, and guess what ? His transmission went out. He should have left it at 514 WHP !!!! Food for thought ? 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
He must have been making tons of low end torque!
I’m at 530whp with my WB Challenger Scat Pack. Getting ready to up that by 25whp or so, and having my tranny built by SHR.
Probably the tune because those hp70 can handle up to 700hp no problem after 700 its better to build it or swap
I’m having a little problem getting my 2020 RT tuned I haven’t been able to find someone that wants to work on my car 😔
It's a custom grind cam by @Mackbuilt on instagram. Dude def has the magic sauce!
Thanks bro
Good Info and video. Did you have David and EFI do your Cam and Tune?
Thanks Much
I have a 2020 392 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat pack and I got easily hit 505 horsepower stock with this car.
Cam.... that bird doodoo on the side of your car in the beginning almost made me faint.
yah I need to clean that up! Didn't see it until editing the video
yeah but when you do these modifications something has to give in a negative way.
What's the best cam to get?? 2021 widebody scat pack
Your gunna need all this to go boosted anyways
Rad video, can you do one for the 5.7 please
I can give it the old college try!
I get to order my stuff around May next year and can’t wait to achieve what you achieved over the years!
big gains 426 stroker kit for 5.7 6.1 6.2 6.4 hemis put at about 600+ but 1400 with boost combined with the Whipple 4.5 supercharger oh God
Any numbers on a Durango SRT?
I have only seen chargers/challengers on his page
Mike Ysais i plan on doing this soon on my Durango SRT. Just need to know which cam is best to get for my application I will film it of course and out on my channel
I would really love to see some details on what camshafts were used the overlap. Etc etc.
he doesn't give out the cam specs on them
I guess for me it would be performance gain vs cost vs reliability if that makes sense. Idk how strong 392s are with boost. "Heard that they dont do well with boost". I drive A LOT so id probably just cam it and hope its a bit more reliable than flrced induction althought you may not make as much.
Edit: "heard they dont like boost" was a friend of mine lol
I hear you - camming a 392 will certainly add a healthy amount of performance
Daryl rabara-brokate. Boost creates to much heat for the factory tight ring lands to hold. The stock bottom end with ring gap will hold a lot more.
My friends 1320 is a frp tomahawk only car and ran a 10.8 the other day. Just went and picked one up after seeing that 🤣
Would the stock 8HP70 trans on the 392 handle the extra HP from the LTH, cam, and 426 stroker kit upgrades ??
Yes - you would be in the 550-600whp & torque range which is still hp70 territory.
These modifications wouldn’t be recommended for a car under warranty. Am I correct?
do you have some links to where we can find good cams for 392?
as well as a link to the 426 stroker kit please !!!!
check out Arrington www.shophemi.com/p-264-426-hemi-stroker-kit.aspx
this website has a lot of great options for you
R/T Life perfect thank you! if you do the cam do you HAVE TO do the long tube headers with it? and might be a dumb question but what if i just wanted to do the 426 stroker kit instead ? is that even logical or not normally done
Where are you getting work done in virginia? I'm looking to get a cam, and headers installed on my 392 challenger.
This is EFI Specialties - 75 Potomac Creek Dr #101, Fredericksburg, VA 22405
If you have a Hemi this is the place you want to go for getting the most hp/torque out of cam/headers combo
Okay great thanks. Do they do installation as well?
Yes they do. Mackbuilt on Instagram has custom grind camshafts & installs everything. Dave tunes it - all in the same spot. Both know what they're doing
Awesome I greatly appreciate the information!
imo 392 best left N/A with bigger cam for gains, 5.7 put forced air whipple or kenne bell.. kenne bell on 5.7 honestly makes it sound like hellcat 😆
392 is the best engine for an N/A build - the gains are impressive with cam/stroker.
couldn't agree more! 👊
GREAT REVIEW WHAT DO U LIKE FOR 2018 TA 5.7 AUTO?
Thank you - What are you looking to do with that T/A? Forced air or N/A build
The one issue with stroking a 392 to 426 is it suddenly becomes very expensive if you want to build it up to handle a supercharger and reach very high horsepower and torque. Adding on high strength, ported and polished cylinder heads, you're looking at $16,000 for parts alone for the rebuild before you even begin thinking about adding the supercharger on... let alone the upgraded drivetrain behind the engine.
yah building up the engine starts getting a little too expensive after cam, headers & heads. Even those pieces are a lot.
Thank you so much for the tips brotha💯
I appreciate the support - a lot of great options for modding
I just got a 2018 Daytona 392 and I’m looking to do some mods on it, I wanted to go with an NA build and all I have done right now is a cat delete and a throttle body spacer, if I was going to get cams/headers what brands would you recommend? And if I did that what tune would be the best to pair with it? I’m looking for a decent gain but I also want longevity because I plan to keep the car long term as a somewhat daily…
Hey I just want to kn where u buy the hood and does it really help keep ur car cool.. my car make lots of heat
I got it at BMC Extreme Customs - called the Killer bee hood. You will like this hood.
@@RTLife so did the rain give u any problem due to all the vents
What is the best cam for a 392
The question then becomes which Cam? I don't know a thing about which one to choose.
you have to do some research on it. There are a handful to choose from
@@RTLife exactly my problem.
Both?
That's the dream!
Waiting on install now! Kooks long tube, cam and Kenne Bell Mammoth 2.8lc
@@bdubs3602 You get this done yet man? I'd like to see.
@@claystero5504 ya its just wrapping up
I just want tighter steering rack, short throw shifter, lighter, wider wheels, toyo r888r 305's and better throttle response.
I'm in Michigan, where do I go for this?
So can you bolt on sum longtube headers, camshaft, better pully, and a whipple supercharger
Yes & it will be making some big time power
R/T Life so u think you can go ported heads, headers, better pully, camshaft and supercharger, with tune and not blow your engine ??
