- Hi guys
People always ask me if they should use gel paint or gel polish in their nail art and I'm sick of repeating myself so I'm making a video.
I'm going to start with a background of Beige Dave and do a Gloss Top Coat and a Matte Top Coat just to show the difference between the top coats too.
I'm going to start with the gel paint and it's a little thicker than gel polish so it can be a little more difficult to work with but it does give these really cool lines. I'm going to do thin lines, thick lines, short lines, long lines, and curly wurly lines to really test these out.
The gel polish is a little thinner than paint and you have to cure it in between so it does help if you mess up because it doesn't dry.
In the end, I'm going to be like Bob Ross and say that they both work for different things. Paint is great for detail because you can get super sharp lines and it buffs off easy but there's a wider range of colours with gel polish, so use a mix depending on what you're doing.

Man I been here long enough to remember when all Kirsty ever used was Mega Gloss to top coat 🤣🤣 that was when I first started doing nails and I’m from the states and one day I spent hours googling products around my area that was comparable to Mega Gloss so I could buy it Bc I wanted to be like Kirsty so bad 🤣🤣 long story short I never found any lol 🤦🏼♀️ luv u all!! 😘😘

I get ur point but it wasn't that long ago.. before the pandemic, when all she used was naio nails because she was working for them on their channel... it's nice to see what she actually likes to use now that she's able too tho.
@@kristineolver3268 no.. I'm not saying when she just used naio.. I know she used Naio up till the pandemic! I'm talking YEARS before that! You must not be an OG and .not watched when she first started on that channel.. for the first yr or two she religiously used a special top coat from Naio called Mega Gloss! It was a harder thicker top coat... then one day she just stopped using it and never even mentioned it again.. that was a good 4 to 5 yrs ago.. so I'm not talking about her stopping using the entire brand of Naio when covid hit.. so yes what I'm talking about was definitely many yrs ago! All the OGs and 22 ppl that liked my comment know what im talking about.. but I do definitely agree with you about her finally using whatever brand she wants to use now! It was like she was locked in nail jail or a nail brand slave! Lol

Hi Kirsty, awesome video! Please could you do a/some videos on acrygel nails in almond, coffin and round? I wish I could use acrylic but the monomer smell makes me unwell so I have to use acrygel which is great but really struggling to get the almond shape down on a sculpting form especially when using clear. I’ve followed you for ages now and loving the content !!! ❤️😍😍

Don’t be so hard on yourself ☺️💖 Unless you’re a nail prodigy, no one is perfect at it until you’ve practiced and practiced til you’re sick of doing French 😜 The more you do something the better you get so keep at it. Even if you have to get your dad/brother/guy friends to be your reluctant models 😜
Keep going honey. I absolutely sucked at all things nails. 1 year later, thousands of hours of practicing, UA-cam, and crying too, I'm licensed and have happy every 2 week clients. It's not easy. But you can do it!!

Amazing video! Thank you! Question, when you say to remove the tacky layer off your gel polish before applying the matte top coat because it works far better.. does this technique work with other gel polish brands or just kirstys?
If you mean the color, there are brands where you shouldn't wipe off the sticky layer. So it reallt depends on what you use

I have acrylic nails on but my nails have got long under I'm wanting to take acrylics off and have normal nails painted is there anything I can do to make my nails stronger so my nails don't just break or snap thanks x
Hi Grace I would recommend using the Strengthify Gel from the Kirsty Meakin range. It can be applied as a stand alone gel to give strength to natural nails or applied underneath a Gel colour to give further strength. Thanks Aimee x
