Curtis & Loretta interview Lester and Bernice Schrenk

Lester Schrenk is a WWII hero. He was shot down during the war, spent time in a POW camp, and was forced on the "German Death March." This is the "rest of his story," how he met and married his true love, Bernice after the war, and the first few years of their life together. We interviewed the couple on April 2, 2015. Loretta wrote a song about Lester's heroic acts during the war, titled "I Will Get Home." Lester is now 100 years old, and Bernice passed away in the summer of 2023.

Les is definitely a national treasure! An amazing human being. And Bernice was a wonderful person. Sadly, she passed away last year.
