This was his opening bit in the one that you watched on "Dumb Americans". His stage in this performance was a grave yard. You can see the headstones as he does his performances, He was and still is the GOAT!!!!! He and Richard Pryor are both gone but regarded by many of todays comedians as their mentors. Another one you might like to react to is Robin Williams. Some of the other skits in this performance is "The Trillion Uncle Daves" and "Extreme Human Behavior". He loved the English language and he, to the many people who loved him, they called him a professor, a philosopher and a lot of other kinds of things that made him the great man he was. This was one of his last performances, He died in 2008. This was made in 2005 or 2006. And the other performance that had done before he died, "You Have No Rights", you did that one, but also check out "Child Worship", and "People Are Boring". Another thing about George Carlin is that he was "Mister Conductor" on a PBS program called "Shining Time Station". Sorry about the book I just wrote you. I'm crippled and don't get around much. UA-cam is my only means of media that I watch. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the great videos. Peace and salutations.
I went to a show of his in Vegas for my birthday one year and he had just started this skit. He was still reading it from a paper onstage! Several years later, his special "A Life Worth Losing" came out on HBO and this was the first skit in that show.
The fact that he remember this in his age, or in any age is just incredibly. He spent several months preparing for each show sometimes and here is the result
I saw George a few times "honing" his act. He came out with a stack of notes placing them on a empty stool explaining how he perfects his act by touring and seeing what, if anything, works. He toured for 1 reason only, explaining he gears up for the annual HBO live special he did for over a decade. That was his main goal, to perfect his yearly act on HBO. It was very interesting and completely different seeing him work this way. The majority of what I heard the nights I saw him in Hershey and Philly were simply hilarious and didn't even make it onto his specials. He also explained how he came up with his material by reading 4 or 5 online newspapers every morning and making notes throughout the day and filing them in filing cabinets. His daughter, Kelly, confirmed that her father had a room of filing cabinets with material after he died. When he had enough material that went over well with his audience during his short tours, he practiced his act at home until he basically had it memorized. That's why he seldom, if ever, made a mistake on those live HBO specials. Quite simply, George Carlin is and maybe will forever be known as, "The GOAT".
Very impressive. I saw George live. You wouldn’t believe how dark he could get when the cameras were off. I felt guilty for laughing but couldn’t help it.
Wish i was old enough to see him when i was younger. Lol i liked his shows an clips that ive seen of him. Everything he says is true an funny but he never apologized for anything. He was WOKE before it was even crazy popular in my generation or the recent generation
My favorite Carlin bit: (This was back when Richard Pryor accidently, severely burned his entire body in the well know "free-basing cocaine" incident and after they both survived multiple heart attacks.) George Carlin: " Yeah Richard and my careers sort of mirror each other's. We are both comedians, we have been in movies and we both have written books and made albums. But we are much alike in life experiences also. Richard had a heart attack, so I had a heart attack. Richard had another heart attack, so I had another heart attack. Richard decides to burn himself up and I said FUCK THAT I'm going too have another heart attack."
YOU WILL NEVERRRRRR NEVER, I SAID NEVER SEE ANOTHER COMIC DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS AT 70 YEARS OF AGE, YOU JUST WON'T, AND THAT'S JUST ANOTHERRRR THING THAT SEPARATED HIM FROM THE OTHERS YOU GUYS! :)
Hi. Just saw you for the first time. A comedian who thinks much like George in various areas is the Australian, Tim Minchin. He does other things besides comedy but his comedy is of Carlin's caliber and themes. "Prejudice", "Inflatable You" and "Thank You God" are all good starting points for him. "Storm" is another one.
Can you please whenever possible react to a very funny bit titled " Who's On First" by legendary comedy team Abbot And Costello. Very classic bit. Thanks guys. 💯👍👍
He had a very blue collar approach to comedy. The would keep files (first on paper, then computer) of all the things he found funny. When a file got big enough he would make it a bit. He would rehearse the bit until it was wordnperfect. After a special was filmed, he threw out the material and started fresh.
I saw George do this live twice. It was beautiful to behold.
