I had my doubts that this wood would turn out as amazing as it is! You are definitely a wood magician. The bark is like a crown and the colors in the wood are so beautiful. There is so much to love about this bowl.
When I first saw the piece, I thought he's going to make a vase. Then you said you were going to make a bowl, I thought, but what about the vase........I love that bowl. Absolutely a beautiful piece of work. You were right, it was supposed to be a bowl.
I kept grinding my teeth every time you cut at the top I was certain the cap was going to come off thanks to your experience and patience you created a charm from what was destined to be firewood to others
Hi Phil from Phil. A great looking please of wood 🪵. Turned into a lovely looking bowl. I thought it looks like a elephants foot When you first started with it, A great job 👏 Phil. I look forward to seeing your next project, I have a large tree down in the garden, there could be some lovely wood for turning on it . I hope you are keeping safe and well, I look forward to your next project, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE.
Just love the finished bowl. My mum, sister, brother and I love how you finish the bark. A lot of other woodturners don't sand the bark. We Love your Howdy
What a lovely elephant foot bowl. It’s beautiful and reminds me of my mom. She collected elephants and since her passing I now collect them. Beautiful job!

Thanks Tuffy for sending him a “heal-over” blank. I am too stingy with mine to send him one! Hope he turns the next one with bark off the rim. Wood too pretty to leave under the bark! 😂😂😂

Phil this bowl though hard to turn came out beautiful. I always love the fact you keep alot of it's natural beauty. That for sure shows the true mind of an artist like yourself. Be well
I agree with @michaelmcdermott2178 . I think that the "dirt" that you found was where the wood rotted/composted in place. Like the entire piece would have done had it been lying on the ground.
Hey Phil, Nice job. Yes it was dirt. Dirt often builds up where a limb was cut off like that one. I seen it often when cutting wood for the fire as a child. Yall have a wonderful day.
I just realized that I didn’t comment. Sad! This was truly a beautiful piece! Sorry it was such work, but I think it’s gorgeous! The wife saw faces inside of it. Please keep it up!
I love Oak. I turn mostly Oak and Pecan. Sometimes for a piece to turn out as nice as this one, you have to work your butt off. But it's worth it in the end. As always, another great video.
Hey Phil, look straight into the bottom of the bowl with the gap at the bottom. You have a smiling face with the left eye giving a great big wink!! This is the best bowl so far in 2023. Finally a bowl with inclusions, gaps and real character. Keep up the good work and soldier on!

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Tough turn, but probably one of your best ones yet! But you know, I would have loved to see that beautiful and exquisite heal over wood under that bark. Oh, well, the bark looks good too. That’s how trees end up with hollows in them for animals to nest in! Good choice to turn away the rotted dead wood until you got back into what was healthy wood.
