Gosh, Phil, that was some commitment to the cause of a UA-cam video for our benefit! You always entertain and educate us, and produce pieces that no-one else would contemplate or envisage - you truly have a unique style ... and that is why we eagerly look forward to Thursday night in your company! Thank you so much.
Golly, Phil, that is a big Ole bowl. It turned out fabulous. Made me tired watching 😆. People don't realize how beautiful Pine can be. I love it!!! You did a fabulous job on that big piece.
I have to be honest and say I didn't think this was going to work out, however Phil produced the magic and it turned out just fine, worth the time spent on it, good job Phil. 😁
Hi 👋, Phil from Phil. What a great looking 👀 Bowl, definitely a lot of fun to seeing you turning that peace, I don’t think a lot of people realise the time and effort that you have to put into a bowl turning like this, that is a amazing peace of Art, well done Phil. Stay safe.keep up the great work, we all look 👀 forward to seeing your next project, Phil from the moulin France.
Hi Phil. The most important lesson I have learned from you is "Mask and Face Shield On". I reviewed all my tools and easily see the safety requirements to use a mask and shield for most all tools I have. I have a bald spot on the top of my head and decided to leave it be. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You turned out yet another beautiful masterpiece!!!!!
I think that’s the largest piece I’ve ever seen you do Phil. It’s beautiful! That one gave you a good workout. Glad you took time to do it over several days so you didn’t exist over extend yourself.
Wow Phil! This one seemed to fight you all the way, but certainly from MY point of view it was worth it!! Once again you have performed your weekly miracle of turning a lump of firewood into a beautiful work of art! Congratulations, Sir! Now go and put your feet up! You deserve a rest after that 5-day marathon!
I was watching some other UA-cam video when the notification for this video popped up. I instantly jumped over to your channel to watch your newly uploaded video. I truly enjoy watching your masterful works of art. I'm not even done watching yet. I just wanted to jump on here real quick and be one of the first to comment. 😉
Hi Phil Waaaou. Big turn. The bark on the edge, looks like an eagle in flight, with wings spread out. Pretty. Pretty. Pretty. She flew over the tops of the Shady Acre Trees Tops, and decided to metamorphose herself into a bowl. Despite that we can hear the fatigue in your voice at one point, it is a beautiful bowl. Forest fire smoke wise, I have been pretty lucky. Bought two air purifiers: one for the car; one for the house. Our air quality has been much better than it has been for some. Have a beautiful week. Going snorkeling.
Wow who would have guessed that pine would end up a beautiful bowl This one sure did. You put a lot of hard work in it but it sure did the trick. I had a PT visit this morning and my shoulder was feeling pretty good. After watching this it just HURTS thinking about it LOL. Well done my friend, Gary
Haha, yeah, this one did me in for a few days. Good thing it took three days to edit the dang thing! Good news that your shoulder is responding to treatment. I've never had good luck with PT. Thanks, buddy! 😊
Cool ponderosa. We have a lot of them around my neck of the woods along with pinion & juniper. You rose to the challenge of that flaky bark. Awesome tuning with soft wood. If you smell that bark in nature it smells like butterscotch!! Thanks for sharing. 🌲
Hi phil ive always said your a masterwoodturner and you have proved it over these 5 days with this beautiful piece of wood. I like the woods grain, bark, inclusions, colour and markings. I thoroughly enjoyed the video and how you explain and show us everything you are doing and why. The huge Ponderosa Pine bowl is magnificent and unique thank you for your time and energy you putinto turning the bowl. Amanda xxxxxx
In this week's episode: Phil processes ponderous Ponderosa Pine piece - prepares phenomenal product! It was great that you were able to rescue some of the bark, that added to the overall amazingness of the bowl.
Well, you done did it again!! Just lovely as usual! I'm like you, leaving the bark gives the item pizzazz!! Have a great day! Waiting for the next adventure!! 06/23/23 5:35am PDT
Good afternoon, Phil. Now that's a bowl. Big, bold and beautiful. Very nice work with the bark patching. The use of the right angle flap grinder was the perfect tool for the need. I like the outcome. Now it's time for a nap.
This one is a humdinger, Phil. Just beautiful. This would make a great center of the table Fruit Bowl. A definite winner even if it took the juice outta you! Easy for me to say😂😂😂 Thanks Phil.
Not only do you inspire with your work, you also impress with your patience. I hope to someday be a decent wood turner and be able to produce some pieces that may come close to yours but more so I hope to have the kind demeanor and the humility as the likes of Phil Anderson. Your one of the best Phil and that goes beond wood turning!
I turned some Pine years ago but this is my first time with Ponderosa. Other than nearly killing me, I'm very happy with the grain and color of this piece, Ken. 😊
Hi Phil Don't worry about the name, the first name is right 😂 I would have turned it the other side up but I think you made the right choice.😊 I love it.
I debated back and forth on this, Arland! I think my intention was to go bark side up when I first saw it, but after turning it over and over about 50 times, flat side won! 😊
Phil - I'm my...ahem...humble opinion... This is the best piece I've seen you create. I love everything about it. I am especially proud of you for leaving the wide margin on the top and then put the little lip on it. It's perfect. I know it was a ton of work, but you started with a good piece of wood. You should always be working with good pieces of wood Phil and this bowl is proof of it. Please don't devalue your talent. You're really good. >>>>>>>>This piece should be in a high end gallery, and priced accordingly. It's absolutely superb.
That's a beautiful bowl. It looked shallower on lathe almost like a custom bird bath but the hole killed that thought great to see you doing your craft. Good night Great Job Phil I missed watching you make beautiful pieces of art
Beautiful Phil, Lots of people dismiss Pine ( Insert Species) as a undesired medium to use for fine woodworking but Pine has always had a special place on my shelf. I think most woodwork's for beginners and accomplished woodworkers, can be made into awesome pieces. Love the live edge and grain of this useful bowl. Love it! Thank you for sharing.
Great point, Dan! As a young woodworker, I used a lot of pine in my projects, mostly due to it's reasonable price at the time. I loved the smell as I ran it through my tablesaw. Lots of decorative and useful pieces still floating around somewhere, I suppose. This piece smelled great too as I cut into it. Thanks, buddy! 😊
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop I could almost smell it as you where turning it. I used to bag pine shavings in zip lock bags as it reminded me of home. PNW!
Seriously Phil, l thought the whole piece was going to go fall of when that chunk of bark went flying 😳 that Ponderosa pine with it's live edge is stunning, l love to watch the whole process, even the sanding, it's just fascinating that u can take that huge chunk of wood & turn it into such a beautiful bowl 😊 crikey, that carbide gauge really melts that wood away & u must be quite strong, cause u can see the force u apply to the wood & it jolting ur hand 🪵 ur hard work, is my relaxing time 😊
That WOULD be a gorgeous sink, Phil!! It’s not too late, buddy. I know you can do it! 😎😎😎 Okay, it’s a beautiful bowl just like that. I’m sure it was already enough work to get it to that point. Great job, buddy! You’d better rest up a bit now! 😁😁😁 Take care, …..Gord
Morning Phil, That was a big lump of Pine. I really do love the end result as ever. I have a video in a couple of weeks that might interest you and bring back memories of this one. Great video as always. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw
I often think of the time I spend turning a piece and then someone wants to haggle over the $20 price tag. If we put a realistic price on things they'd sure be shocked wouldn't they. A beautiful piece Phil but we expect nothing less from our mate up north lol.
The work of your hands is beautiful...

I think Ben Cartwright himself would love having that in his house at the Ponderosa! I know I would!!
Thanks again, Phil!
Haha, I've been in that house, Kelly! Thank you! 😊

I'm glad you think so, Lewis, thank you! 😊
Very beautiful being that it's "just pine" along with a unique shape. Thank you sticking with it for all those days! Blessings.

The bark and the top make the great difference , I knew at first sight that Phil had some idea of his own , as usual ...
You are right, those make this piece special, Youenn! Thanks! 😊
Great idea putting the bead on top to delineate the bowl from the wings.
Thank you, Gary! 😊

Wow. What a project. A lot of work for sure. I can see it full of popcorn. Hmmmmm. 💕
Yeah, just right for popcorn, Vickie! A tad too big for M&M's! 😊
Great outcome, Phil. Your patience was rewarded. Well done.
😊
Phil, You outdid yourself with this one. I didn’t have to put the energy into it; but, it was worth it! It is amazingly beautiful!!! I love it!

Phil that came out very very well. I never would have considered turning Ponderosa Pine for a finished piece, but you did wonders with it. Wow!!
I turned some Pine years ago but this is my first time with Ponderosa. Other than nearly killing me, I'm very happy with the grain and color of this piece, Ken. 😊
Beautiful!! Very rarely think about turning pine, you’ve changed my mind.
Hard wood is generally easier to turn than this soft Pine but still, I'm glad I turned it, Debra. 😊
Absolutely a beautiful piece especially the bark, l ❤ the contrast in colors
😊
Wow, Phil, you showed courage to even try to turn a blank with known challenges. Well done!
