That's the reason I warned you in the very first episode that do not bring out those old ships like the Nelson class or even the Queen Elizabeth class, they lack the armour to sustain hits from Italian fleet, even if it was just heavy cruisers. Well I guess you have learned the hard way, bring out those Lion class battleships.
If ya aircraft carrier is in a surface engagement, im thinking ya gonna have to use ya destroyers to charge the enemy surface ships to do a torpedo attack, the enemy surface fleet had crossed ya T, so torpedoes would of been in arch. I'm not sure about the range, though.
You need to start lining your aircraft up for a Bow-to-Stern attack instead of from the side. It both increases the number of hits and reduces the number of AA guns able to fire at the planes.
You've not been reading your history books lately, have you! The Hood didn't last long against Bismarck in real life! The Hood's armour was relatively light for a battlecruiser. Most of it was, in fact, taken out to make her faster and plunging fire hit her in one of her main magazines and she blew up and sunk, taking all but three of her crew.
Well, there is always Rodney. I think the Lion class is a better option for the Mediterranean campaign as they have a better armor belt. Great episode Taff really enjoyed it.
Excellent job at the video. let the arm chair qb's have their time You are one of the best YT'rs at these videos keep up the good work Thanks for sharing.
Gotta hand it to the Italians. Their tanks may have been little more than a bad joke, but they sure did make some darn pretty capital ships. And then there's the Nelson, which is.... yeah... I'm just going to leave it there. Lol...
RP3 rockets are not especially powerfull, but Wyverns seem to carry much of them! Ans please, as allways, try to not damage two ships but rather sink one... splitting attacking planes between many targets is usually not good tactics. Damaged ships repair, only sunk ones will never more bother you.
You know when i was a kid i thought Swordfish was the most useless aircraft of the war. As an Adult i can see the beauty of efficiency and well thought out planning. Yeah it might be 20 years too old but it messed up the Kriegsmarine plans.
Can't believe the Nelson got bullied by a pair of italian heavy cruisers. Are you sure the game didn't decide to grant a lucky hit to cause a very convenient magazine explosion? Cruiser calibre guns should not be able to punish a BB so easily. Mash the superstructure? Sure, but sinking a BB? I doubt it.
@@colindouglas7769Bismarck got torpedoed by a tiny af plane. Dont yall think the difference between fighting the german ships vs italian is a little different?
Taff, I think your torpedo planes drop way too early on warships. Not sure if you can control the drop points but, I’m pretty sure you’d get much better results if you could.
20:25 You had numerical advantage, you had quality advantage (Battleship versus cruisers?? any captain would consider that dream coming true!) and still didn't manage a single sinking?? Sorry sir, but that is called a lost opportunity :( In real life, damaging and scaring enemy would be worth a little bit, but in this game is worth nothing. Enemy ships get repaired, and you will loose valuable time while going to distant port for repairs and rearm :(
Taff: Bullies the Italian navy for the past 6 episodes.
Italian taskforce: Allow us to introduce ourselves
Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste... lol

On the plus side, it's infinitely more entertaining to see a pitched surface engagement than just air attacks on ships.
I suggest getting the hood because she can take hits on the belt better then the nelson

its not like I am saying to get hood to fight Bismarck that's just stupide the nelson got mediumly damaged by just heavy cruisers
@@colindouglas7769 first of all the game isn't that realistic because hood wont blow up in 19 min like real life
@@colindouglas7769 you really have not seen this game as well as me you cant talk based of real life

thank you Taff, don't worry, things will get better! time to build a bigger flotilla
The Nelson is designed to be bow on to attacking ships. Next time, don't turn it sideways.
Love this series. I’ve missed surface battles like this. The IJN series was more of war in the air than in the sea
What a wonderful Wednesday today with this video

Great work as always Taff, really enjoying this series. Hopefully you'll play the axis side after this outing into the med. 😀
Keep up the great content
That was epic

Time to activate The Mighty Hood?
Don't you remember what the Bismarck and Prinz Eugen did to the Hood in 1941?

Ive noticed the Wyverns drop a long way out - maybe manually drop them closer to the targets?
Or stop using them...
@@bc3ldr69 I notice they can carry 'all' of the RP3 rockets (16 each) perhaps that is their niche?

19:36 lick the wounds? I think its hard to win WotS with the planes only. I think U got to be more aggressive with Your surface fleet
And the torpedoes bombers on this mod ALWAYS drop way too far out to be effective. Either drop manually or use other ordinance!

You lost Nelson! This is a shameful display!
