- Over quarter of a century later, this documentary remembers the Security Express Heist told through the eyes of one of the most ruthless gangsters in British history, Freddie Foreman. Targeting the Shoreditch headquarters of Security Express, Foreman and his ‘Firm’ knew to expect safes brimming with readies lying in wait for transportation the following day. Disguised with monkey masks, balaclavas and brandishing shotguns, The Firm performed an excruciating 8 and a half hour hold up, interrogating the on duty guards one by one as they filtered in throughout the day. With each guard holding his own part of the vault activation, the Firm had to wait until they had a full set of workers to reap their £6million worth of spoils! But with a reward of half a million pounds hanging over their heads from Scotland Yard, will they get away with it?

Horsely, what a snitch. Crazy that senior criminals would trust people like that.
Never trust somone who is on the ropes financially. They’ll eff up and expose anyone who trusts them with dangerous secrets.
I like the way that Freddie Foreman carefully worded his part in the Robbery by saying he was involved in the handling stolen money but basically giving a inside knowledge of the Armed Robbery that only a person on the actual Robbery would know. The Police know full well he was on the actual Robbery and as do the the London underworld but he got a Not Guilty for Armed Robbery but was convicted of Handling nearly half a million in Stolen money and sentenced to 9 years in 1990..
Best document channel, no strange cutting zooms and sound editing going on! One of the only apprently
The strange cutting, sounds and zooms are usually down to copyright laws
Freddie Foreman. The original godfather of British gentlemen, proper old school geezer they don’t make them like that anymore unfortunately, well done Fred and all the best to you and the family mate. 👍🏻😉
“[The guard] had a shot up his niagras…” 😂😂😂
It means balls
Niagara Falls
Excellent thanks for the upload
"Poor old Greg 'ad a shooter up 'is niagaras..." lol Gotta love Freddie.
Brown Bread Fred mate😅
Foreman was the man in his day, not the krays, Freddie had a bit more about him👍
I believe the Kray’s heyday was at least decade or more earlier than the time of this crime.
@@mumblesbadly7708 In his day
Yeah he had is hands in many pie’s for sure very intelligent.
@@SML1010THAI don't pay attention to yourself n make money was his attitude 👍😊
Fred regretted getting involved with them and by 1968 just before he was lifted with the Kray's he was along with a few others planning to have both of the Twins Ironed out when he found out Ron wanted his pal Billy Gentry dead for nothing. He said Ron was fucking crazy and wanting to kill people many were friends of Fred for nothing. Fred was much bigger than the Twins ,All the Kray's could do was fight and protect they couldn't rob if they tried.
Loving your vids,cheers
Love listening to Freddie, he was there for it all, and involved in a lot of it. A True Legend. Just did what he thought was right, and you cant argue with that..
No offence mate but you’ve got pretty low self esteem if you revere an armed robber, none of them are legends honestly that’s a pretty embarrassing take
Amazing video thanks a lot
They never get away with the big ones. The great train robbery, security express, hatton garden, the brinks matt, the kent securitas job etc... A gang can steal too much, there is too much at stake, and not only have you got old bill after you, you'll have private security firms on your case working for the insurance companies. The only one that I know that got away with it, was the big one in Northern Ireland, but I think they only got away with it because the politicians let them, because the money was used to pay off IRA pensions.
Depends how you define getting away with it. In most of those robberies, huge chunks of the money, gold bars etc. taken was never found. The criminals get released a few years later and spend the rest to their lives in luxury.
@@Wally-HThat never happens
@@jasonantigua6825 Of course it does, happens all the time. Perfect example, how do you think Kenneth Noye got his million pound house in Kent? Not through working in Tesco, I can tell you that! How do you think the criminals who spent years in their luxury Spanish seaside villas got their money?
@@Wally-H He spent the most important years of his life in jail! Haha
Freddie was thee real deal proper gangster
Yeah Freddie pulled of the biggest cash hoist in English history lived like a king in America and Spain. The Krays lived with their mum and pimped young boys no comparison
Love this narrator’s voice!
The matter of fact FF: "Poor ole Greg had a shoota up his Niagras"...I'm dyin here!! 🤣😂🤣
Respect sir forman, playing cool, respectable and calculated moves
£6.5m stolen £3m recovered after spending over £3m on investigations
The money the authorities spent on that particular successful investigation almosy certainly helped to deter other criminals from committing similar crimes.
So much of that £ is still in Spain invested in clubs/restaurant's and bars... ha ha they had the last laugh
They were all too thick to invest, all the so called big boys from that day died penniless, I think the Richardson brothers are the only ones from that era who had brains.
Top lads
Brown Bread the GOAT UK OG.
The Milk man got away with his part, huh?
Ya what happened 2 t bottle of milk?
Of course
THE TREATMENT ...GO ON Freddy !!! Ha Ha ...
As of the 16th of April 2024 Freddie Forman is 92 years old. Not bad for an East End armed robber! The only other one's still alive that I know of is Eddie Richardson 88 years old and Chris Lambrianou 94 years old.
Horsley was just a grass
Freddie was a legendary gangster defo a class act
Fkin horsely talk about double crossing everyone is an understatement a sad state of affairs after the lads and done so well .
Great documentary but I despise these people for what they do to the little man who simply wants to go to work and earn money to simply live, im talking about the security gaurds.
The controller must have been so traumatised by knowing some madman with a sawn off is point it at you.
Supergrass lol.
I can't imagine anyone who is even half successful risk getting locked up for years and years in a cell with a couple men, you would never get to see your wife and kids if you were married, and you would never get to see a woman if you were single. They must be completely daft.
There are perfect crimes. The ones that are Solved, are from a mistake of One of the culprits or someone snichting.
12 years ago, here in my country,a security van was robbed in the Middle of the main country's highway, during rush hour. 50 million € were stolen,in Broad daylight in front of dozens of people.
They used plastic explosives to get in the van. Nobody was hurt, and it took only 90 seconds to do that.
If anyone Saw the movie "Heat", it was like that.
12 years after, and not even a single clue of the culprits. Its a cold case by now.
Was a perfect robbery, like many others.
The only ones that come to mainstream attention are the one's involving large amounts of money or important people.
Some are Solved, but the big ones never.
Like this One. 50 million € in 90 seconds.
Unfortunably i have to give some credit to this people. Getting rich in 90 seconds, without anyone getting hurt in the process, its not for everyone.
Like i said, those guys must watched "Heat" dozens of Times as inspiration . Ive seen the movie dozens of Times, just because i love the movie.
PS :like the biggest heist in history, that few people know abaut.
Everybody knows abaut the stolen Nazy's Gold, but few knows what happen to that gold after the war. From what ive read and seen on documentaries, some "few" Tons of gold bullion and jewels, were never been recovered after they were found by American troops,in caves in Bavaria and Áustria.
From the 80 tons of gold found by americans, only 60 tons were officialy registered. The other 20 Tons of Pure gold, only a few American soldiers know (knew) were they went.
A perfect heist,80 years ago.
Fred is a LEGEND.
I have to ask, why is an officer shown in a full on forensic suit that goes over the head but the officer going into the spot where money is hidden doesn't even have a pair of gloves on?
I think it was more gene hunt style in those days the other guy had probably just come back from the pub
NEVER keep your contraband in your crib bro.
👍 👍 👍
Dreeeam people baa sida caruurta daawada fictionada iyo dhalaan habaabista techtaa dabadeed u badatay handle garaysay.
Never knew it was in shoreditch
Freddie foreman was a legend in the underworld people call him brown bread fred not many old skool gangsters about like Freddie today
Have you noticed criminals always have similar faces. From the krays to these lot.
they spent the money on prossies, strippers, coke and wasted the rest.
Never meet in a pub!! That should be obvious. Surely they could put the bags somewhere instead of roping in Horsely. Come on! The more people involved the greater the risk of informers. Criminals are cunning but not smart. They need someone in the team who is not necessarily in the criminal underworld to handle the post-robbery aspect.
Heist is American slang, use robbery.this word is from the new yorkers pronouncing hoist as heist.
£8,000,000 to sort out and the last important man turns up 2,29pm
7,5 hours later
When it becomes clear no one was killed or even hurt, this crime became a "caper."
All this time and so much £ is still missing! Not the best police work.
Pity the police didn't spend more time on sooties knife crime & drug dealing. The Krays were not a threat to us ordinary people. I met Charlie Kray in the 1980's when he got out.
"BROWN BREAD "
"It's a dog-eat-dog world...."
(depends on whether you're a Doberman or a Chihuahua)
Right on his niags lol
32 million never recovered...
Of course, there were clues. At least one big one. No one with no inside knowledge could have pulled it off.
I think one of the guards got caught with 40 grand in his attic
I can't see how they could have done it without inside help, big lie from the authorities as usual
@@dagre1839 I know someone who worked there at the time and they said it was.
BEA merged with BOAC on 01 April 1974 so if he did get forced onto a Trident it would have been British Airways.
looks like the filming was at the AVP at MAN.
...
22:38 I am amused that this reenactment would show the robbers armed with an old "rabbit ears" 12 G double barreled shotgun.
Only thing worse than a grass is a super-grass
He opens the door to get a pint of milk . Wtf !
There was a cash depot in the East End that had a coal-scuttle type opening in the wall. The milkman would just pull it open+ask the guard inside how many pints he wanted over the intercom.Put the bottles in +push it shut.Guard didn't need to leave his post.
Forgot the camera man , with double vision !
Their professional robbers and they did think about getting the money out of the country
His words he has no regret what he did, my thoughts to the person dowsed in petrol and the other hostages, I only hope he had an interesting time showering whilst in prison which is where he should still be for life
If I'm reading this correctly, this man should be in prison, not in a documentary.
You're not reading it correctly then. This robbery happened in 1983. Freddie Foreman was not a robber per se. He was just involved in hiding the money after the act. He got 9 years.
We don’t give out 15 life sentences in this country.
American law abiding woman?!
If they were involved with the mob, they would have snuffed them out right after the robbery.
Crime does not pay, with all that money the end result is a jail term.
unless you own the banks
Following which the come out and live the life or Reilly on the money the police never recovered.
r i p ronnie knight died a few days back
Fred's a legend though
Riveting..
👍
How English is that, the need for a cup of tea led to the robbery.
41.20 WTF going on with that wig??
Armed blaggers , safeblowers , the geli man (most respected ) pavement jobs , long firms , fences , dippers and hoisers . The good old days RIP .
Shouldn't that be "alias john smith" ?

Unless you were on the receiving end in which case it could be very nasty.
Forman as a son brilliant actor.
Why all 7 security office had a busy day too deal with £8,000,000
Why would teh last officer arrive at 2,15pm over 7 hours after the first one turned
What a load of BULL$HIT
They were drivers of the vans who would go out on the cash pickups it said the customers were calling asking where they were.

All come on top because of a low life east end grass
