The armored car robbery reminds me of the movie *Heat.* The part where they use a stopwatch, burned out car, and the cops keep talking about how good, trained and professional the crew is.
I'm not usually a betting person, but I'd bet every penny that those officers & drivers gleefully retell this story to their grandkids at every appropriate opportunity 😂 Hell they're probably still drinking on that experience with their buddies! 🤣

Lots of safety checks as officers want to make sure that the car is being opperated under official buisness, that the persons in the vehicle are who they say they are, that they aren't under duress, and other details like that that just aren't prevalent to civilian vehicle traffic stops. An extra 15min, totaling to their 30min stop, makes a bit more sense when you take those extra details and precautions into account 🤷

For experienced thieves who seemed to have their Robberys well planned they got caught by a rookie mistake with the stolen car and trusting someone who just happens to turn up with a plan that seems to good to be true. They should have just stuck with the crew they had. There is no shortage of lowlife crooks who don't like prison but are more than happy to help the police send others to prison.

This was many, many years ago. I'm sure there was prison reform in place. Today, it seems to non-Amerians, like myself, that US prisons don't do much to reform prisoners. They just lock them up and throw away the keys. The recidivism rates are high because jail wardens are poorly educated and paid and often former army guys, who view prisoners as the enemy. An interesting fact is that where I live, ex-army are not offered such work due to their combative styles. Investing in jail programmes and staff training just might help your reoffending rates.
I don't know if you could call these "professional" robberies. If an occupational health and safety officer had seen how they were double handling those bags of cash and not using the correct lifting techniques they would have been shut down after the first job.
