- BritFlicks talks with reformed robber Terry Ellis, about the heist that was described as London’s very own ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ robbery. Terry Ellis was hired to pull off a heist that others thought impossible, he had to penetrate a high security data centre in Kings Cross, London, that held highly classified data for some of the world’s biggest banking corporations. Once inside he had to remove motherboards valued in excess of £100 million and deliver them to his anonymous employer.

Motherboards don'y hold manipulative data, Hard Drives do
😮
yeah but think of all the memory, too bad he powered it off :(
Yeah so true and would of been quicker just getting hdd but they just wanted it all to be sure, they also had another specialist downloading all the server data on his laptop 💻 he the one that got the most precious information, but I'm a technician 25 years and i thought the exact same like the motherboard is pointless but I think the wanted the pentium chips and copy the technology or something maybe, deffo to do with the cpu they clearly had no idea how computers work
Hope Rockstar Games are watching this.
I like the precision! Loved to have grafted with this fella!
All about the details
Respect for a brilliant job and great video.
One of the smartest dudes who had the minerals to pull that job off,,
Good man terry mate god bless and I wish you all the best of luck for the future man,,
Best story I’ve ever herd mate bless you Bruv
Heard
Heard
Herd of what? Sheep?
Robbery/intelligent crime story. Had me at the edge of my bed 😂😂😂. Proper mad story this is
Best story my herd of sheep have ever heard
Brilliant, enjoyed that 👍
True masterminds, what a clever bunch of chaps
Luv these stories just wish me and my mates had the brain to pull them off👍👍💪
I would have been honoured to work with this lad. Proper professionalism is rare.
He probably only worked with other professionals though.
Yeah and hes ate more porridge than a jock on steroids
Great story amazing heist. 9/10 👍
You can tell Terry has old school values.
He didn't grass on the other gang members and I'm sure the police would have offered him a less sentence for other peoples names involved.
That has my total respect.
Far play Terry.
Fantastic bit of graft lol dog when on the job too
Great story, thanks, but they must have been stealing hard drives. There's no data on motherboards other than BIOS. Not to mention it's virtually impossible for 5 guys to remove 120 in 30-40 minutes.
These were Sun servers not PCs. Probably motherboards including Sparc CPUs and RAM. Probably also a lot were in spares cupboards. Probably out of the country by teatime. The stuff right at the end about mortgage data was rubbish and strongly suggests his role was limited to getting the team in and out, and that he'd no real idea of what was stolen.

Wow absolutely amazing.... 😮... Top guy 👍
What a story! Terry Ellis has more bottle and intelligence than anyone.
what an awesome dude !
Got to laugh at some of these comments thinking this guy's some kind of hero.
Go get your booster
Wow,that’s what I call riveting,and it certainly was...😬
Great story...... 👍
Great bit off work gutted it came on top 4 you fella. 💚👊💥
He's been making a film about it. Cant wait to see it
Brilliant Top draw job, definitely worth a film script.
Excellent story
I need this kind of excitement in my life!!! 😅😂
This guy here takes professionalism
Terry loves the sound of his own voice....
So would you if had done that ha ha
What a great story
My mate walked on a site shouting at people about boots high vis hard hats then drove off in a JCB .
It’s funny how many computer experts are making comments on here..
Great story nonetheless
Terry's the lad.
How long did he get for that??
SICK GUY.
THEY SHOULD PUT HIM IN MISSION IMPOSSIBLE MOVIE.
In the words of Jimmy ‘The Gent’ Burke, “You did the right thing, never tell them anything and always keep your mouth shut” pretty daring robbery!
I bet a lot of important people were worried about what’s on those mother boards, let alone the money that got transferred
Do all computer parts not go to a huge dump in Ghana or somewhere? They are probs melted down by now, after all info was taken
I barely know how to use an iPhone never mind mother boards etc lol
All old iPhones are taken to a dump in Ghana and melted down
The only problem is... motherboards and 'chips' don't store data....
Fucking amazing, his heart must of been coming out of his mouth ! Genius
See a film here
16 pairs of cuffs? For 5 fake officers? 😂 doesn’t look too dodgy?!
Thought this also one video key was on tyre, and this one its in the fuel cap
F£CKING AMAZING STORY.. SHOULD MAKE A GREAT FILM.
He knows his shit. OLD SCHOOL LONDONER
More front the Myers😂
Very interesting story Terry Your a proper staunch geezer what I really admire about you is you took it on the chin a lesser man would have done some deal and grassed the rest up like the dead man walking that grassed our firm up
I remember spending time with you in Wandsworth prison you walked with your head up high no matter how long you were doing
you were also very funny looking forward to seeing you soon
Likewise mate see you soon brother 💪
Some stroke don't think anything be done like that again one of a kind 👌🏻
As good as he is, I'm sure he'll know eventualy, dirty money it evaporates or you end up getn burnt. If he applied those skills to a legit endeavour , easily make it succesful. Hopefully thats what hapens now.
I know the old Royal Mail sorting office really well from growing up around there. Access via the canal where Granary Street doglegs 'round was always a piece of piss. Up the whole of Granary street it's easy to get in there, the side entrance also being a massive weak spot, but via the canal is surefire, you don't even have to get your feet wet, and that's from either side you can access the canal and bunk in over that side where the security is a lot weaker.
Shame it's all changed and will never be the same, even in 2007 it was all over, really, compared the the '90s.
02:43 Come on mate, Holmes Road don't count, that nick is safe as houses from our pov and especially back then. Albany Street can't find their arse from their elbows and was about to be shut down, I guess you mean Holborn, but it's hard time in there, they're worse than Tottenham Court road used to be. They also have piss-poor response times, because they always get confused around Lamb's Conduit street. Too narrow for them. There's no Kings Cross nick apart from that "office" and the one by the old courthouse that only does the Geegees, it's obviously Islington Nick to worry about response time-wise there for that, even though it was under E division back then. It's easy to get out of there in vehicles, but again, over the canal and up into islington via barnsbury would be the best out of it, the railways work really well too via Belle Isle on foot.

He got caught. Fair Enough. BUT the guys that plan these types of robbery are obviously highly intelligent. Couldn't their intelligence be put to something useful instead of or while they are in prison? These are guys who think outside of the box. They probably would enjoy any challenge presented to them.
Sorta resembles vick mackey from the shield chasing the money train
That ended up tits up too didn't it
Food got you caught 😢
All to keep corrupt bankers from going down in the financial crash of 2008...obviously knew the whole thing was about to implode...i remember saying to a mate in 2006,best to sell everything you have, because with no young people entering the housing market, the market is in trouble...i saw it coming, and went harvesting around the World, people still have to eat!
Is this for real, or just a Ocean's 11 movie?
Fund k James Bond. What is motherboard?.
love this stroy i pictured it all in my head legend i was in koh samui youd a loved it there ahaha
I heard a similar story about a guy who was paid to "remove" hard drives years ago . He was never told what was on them and was not stupid enough enough to be nosey etc :-) . But it was all down to "Big " people wanting evidence destroyed . He also was known to torch lawyers offices and a forensic lab !!!
Probably Saville
"I'll take 'Made up stories' for $1200 please Alex".
what's the big deal with motherboards?
It's one of these:
1) Terry is calling Hard Drives "Motherboards" and it is fine to make that name mistake. All data is stored on the Hard Drive and as long as he has those, all is well.
2) The dude who hired him has asked for the wrong components and caused a very risky yet useless job. In this case, (if the hirer dude was also hired) that dude is probably not alive. I can't see him making that kind of mistake if it was for himself.
3) The Motherboards were the Rolls-Royce of motherboards and extremely expensive. However, this is highly unlikely and in this case still think the job probably wasn't worth £100 M. 😂
When you read reports of this robbery and trial, it wasn’t information/data that was being stolen, it was the value of the computer equipment. Thefts of equipment from data centres weren’t uncommon back then because the hardware was so valuable.
Oh wow. How much were they valued at? This man spent £100k on expenses alone for the job
i grew up around him
What data did they want is what I want to know?
' A Man wants to meet me on Hampstead Heath ' !
I'd be a bit suspicious ( George Michael ) know what I mean ?
They must of went through a lot cuffs for all those people
Probably used zip tie cuffs
Why motherboards and not hard drives? If data needed to be destroying what storage these motherboards have
I believe the components in them were very valuable for the time. I could be wrong
So smart he got caught.
What is that sh*t about? Is he a hero now?Come on....
It’s great! Wtf is a mother board and why was it so important? 😮
Not very bright are you ?
@@Tom-uv7ry how rude! You’re clearly not bright
Exactly, why take the motherboard.
@@JohnnyMotel99 these would have been server blades which contain a MB and all data is stored within the blade on chips no drives hence their value, and by doing this he probably allowed a load of crooked dodgy bankers get off scot free, i would have preferred that the bankers went down an not Terry
@@apocalypticweasel9078 I get it now. These blades can be quite large (I think) and the best have something like M2 memory modules? That could be why he said they used laundry bags for transport as the blades are big!
Love to be a part of that firm enough respect pure class
Motherboards do not store data, cpu's do not store data. Ram can store data, but it doesnt hold it. And certainly cant hold qauntities of data like the Gent alludes too. He may have confused the mobos with hdds, and if your not au fait with the insides of a PC then its entirley understandable.
Facts I'm a technician and can confirm this is true 💯
120 hdd in 35 40 mins seems more to the point motherboard are useless they just wanted the cpus for the technology at the time
Is the guy selling passports still alive?
If you want a 59,000 rangerover buy a suit get a lap top drive away ,if you want to rob a place buy high vis vests and walk in . high vis and clip board your in any place . buy a volvo or xX5 .
I've been on building sites where unknown people came on site wearing high viz and hard hats, stole alot of equipment in 2 transit vans and not 1 person thought they was upto no good.
especially if its a big site.
no one on a medium to large site knows everyone thats working there no even the site managers as people come and go so often.
So much planning
So many points it could go wrong
Got caught tho, so wasn’t perfect job tho
All about detail
Why is he saying "Mother Boards" What information is stored on an MB ?
Its the hard drive that has all the info.
With respect, I must say, They were criminals not IT technicians. We all know what he means. It’s better than saying “the computer thingies”
He said motherboards because that’s what the people behind this wanted not hard drives. The information they wanted was on the Chips held by the motherboards
@@geoffpj1 you're talking shit 😂 nothing is stored in motherboards, only hard drives have storage
What’s his full name ?
Brian Charrington
@@Tbo1235 That's a totally different person, this is Terry Ellis
I had a look in the description for you. It's Terry Ellis
Mugs game...unless you like doing time. I'd rather see my family grow and be skint than stare are 4 walls for years. Clever bloke though he's mustard wish him well
I can't help thinking there was some govemment involvment here, probably from the Security Service or GCHQ wanting to get their hands on the microprocessors.
Looks like bruce willis
bruce willis?
Wow, lmao if this was me I'd be like Robin Hood. The amount of people I could help with that much money. Nobody got hurt either.
Boring.....
20 bags but there’s 5 of them and the had 2 each so that’s only 10 bags 🧐
CCT.
& you done too much talking mate
Boring
Tell the whole story and don’t tell us how long you got or how they come about nicking ya or anything u wolly
Go and ask them if they are alive no you won't so shut up
He literally said his mate got caught with the uniform and then they did a known associate check and the guard ID him. Think you’re the Wolly mate
@@panchh9228 and how did they know he was just walking down the street when they jumped on him you absolute melt
The burning question is … how much ?
£1m
With £200k expenses
Motherboards are worthless. What you want is hard drives, that's where the data is.
I can't remember the last time I heard someone recount a crime they'd committed without embellishing certain parts..
This was a great story and although most of it is already documented, i got the feeling what he tells here was all true.
👏
Snitch
Few holes in that story but I guess it’s all part of the show
Motherboards? Does he mean hard drives? Stealing motherboards for data makes no sense.
Muppet!
Swearing is absolutely unnecessary
You need a passport to book your flights so how’s he already had his flights booked before he got it
cos his pal is making the pp so they will already know the name dob and pp no thats on it ;-}
Not always, some agencies online just ask name to book and pay, I thought it was strange early this year when I booked flights again they didn't ask my passport details but they didn't and all was good
Its the chips they used to go for good money they got took all over the country good doe easy to steal
