As someone who has dealt with harassment due to my disabilities, I can totally understand how she feels. We don't bother anyone, but we get disrespected and harassed often. No we're not faking it, and we don't just want attention. Becoming disabled can happen to anyone, so count your blessings.

I'm also young and disabled. I totally understand how you feel. I've run into so many nice people. I get looks for riding the scooter at the store sometimes. I /look/ fine but im not, so I get nervous.
I went out with someone always the first few months. It really helps you build confidence if you have a loved one who you trust and will stand up for you.
I also go to therapy to help process my feelings about being disabled, and that also really helps.
The best thing my therapist ever told me was that I am valid, and i don't owe anyone an explanation. If I experience ableism, I have the right to stand up for myself. And in my experience, even strangers will stand up for you when you're being mistreated!
It's so, so hard. But I believe in you. I hope you're able to overcome your anxiety and become the new you. ❤

I've been disabled due to a rare illness I've had since age 22. People see me and tell me, "you're too young to be disabled" just because my disability is not so visibly obvious. I can stand and walk, but not very well, and not for very long. I struggle just to step in and out of my bathtub and need assistance even to get into my car. And because my disability is caused by a medical condition that is also life threatening, I can easily get sick. I would catch a cold from someone I meet in public and end up in ICU. Because of this, I can't work a job. I mostly stay home and limit my exposure in public places. I've been advised not to go anywhere with large crowds, which includes church services. Visibly, when people see me, they think I look completely normal and don't understand why I'm legally disabled, use a wheelchair and have handicapped parking. They think I'm just being lazy. Because they can't relate. They don't understand how difficult every little thing can be, which they take for granted. Something as simple as just getting into a car. Be thankful, and have some consideration for those who struggle with disability every day.

I wasn't even close to be disruptive to the class and the teacher.
