Your Mandarin is so eloquent, you speak to this man with pure respect, referring the pronoun as Nín instead of ni, all the best to you and I am sure the simple and kind gestures that you have shown on your videos are worth watching, especially for young generation!
I agree. I speak Chinese mysel after studying in Beijing. And you speak fluently and show much respect at the same way, totally embracing the diffences of the culture. Great job of helping that poor old man out! Have a great time travelling in China!
the question is, would he do it if he never had thousands of people to show his kind gesture? and knowing he will get more views and subscribers which is more money. it's better to help people in humble ways, privately.
I’m a Vietnam Veteran who was stationed in PhuCat back in 1967-68. While in Vietnam serving, I helped a young shoe shine boy the entire time I was in Vietnam. Bought him a bike and clothes. Vietnam is an amazing and beautiful country. Your caring and loving spirit and your good will towards the locals is admirable! You are an amazing ambassador for the USA!! Keep it up.
Christopher ….this is what makes you attractive ..doing good deeds like this …not because you are bi lingual …giving back to the community like this shows you have a good soul .. now that’s attractive !!! Respect ✊🏻
It always breaks my heart to see older people working so hard especially in a lot of Asian countries because they're pushed to the back burner when they're deemed "useless to society". I don't know how true that is, but that's what I've been told traveling around and living overseas for awhile.
All depends on the family situation. Traditionally, the children take care of the parents. However, China had the one-child policy for a long time. If the parents out-lived the child, they usually ended up having to make a living anyway they can. With the current lack of marriage and child birth, China will end up with an unsustainable higher elderlies population.
Pretty weird thought process. Seems like throughout countries like China, Vietnam, maybe Laos/Cambodia, not sure. But especially China, Grandparents and even elderly strangers are venerated. A young married couple are expected to take care of parents and if they are still alive, grandparents (glad there’s social security here) as well. A terrible burden on the couple but it’s their duty. Except this poor man is probably in his 60’s-IDK if he said-and he’s considered worthless to society. With nothing to contribute. So he’s out on the street hawking fruit and vegetables. He’ll probably go home to a bowl of noodles with a little meat, maybe, or a bowl of rice. And lay down on a mat on the cold hard floor to try and sleep for a bit until he has to get up in the morning to start over again. Apparently he has no family to take him in. Something is wrong with thais picture!!
I've certainly seen it in the U.S. and Canada. Seniors in their 80s not able to live on their pensions. Forced into the service industry when they have obvious painful disabilities. So very wrong. We do not respect our seniors in these societies.
You are absolutely such a kind heart. It was so emotional to watch what you did for this man. You bet I’m a subscriber and love all your videos ! Let’s spread the love and get Chris more subscribers! We can do it.
Same here hope more sub so he can do more good deeds. I’m stoked he isn’t greedy and shares not only his $$ and Experience he is giving us Americans a name as most of s are.
That was sweet. I also liked those guys who wanted to give you some money because you spent so much doing a good thing. I forget how many good people I met in China.
I was homeless for 2 1/2 years in the US. While working, too, because the cost of living is so high. “Americans” were very cruel to me. There were very few exceptions. Government assistance is the biggest fu*king joke. I lived it. I assume you had a comfortable life. @ms.cristinaleon
You are going to have to get used to it, because there is more of it coming. Governments are hoovering up money (expanding inflating debt) to pay for wars and other forms of corruption.
Man, what you are doing is great and you have me as your new member subscriber. It goes to shown that Asian culture of hard work and dedication to help put foods on the table for his family. Dude is 60 yrs old if I heard correctly when you asked him and it's midnight and he's still out there with determinations
Always love your videos, so thoughtful to help that elderly man. I hope that any extra money that you gave went towards something he truly needed. Thank you for sharing 😊
Kudos to you Chris. Your Mandarin is right on point, you have soft & warm heart. Just remember "what goes around comes around". Thank you for helping another human being. Buddha blesses you with good health and happiness,, good nite from USA.
Chris, you are such a😮kindhearted person. I think wherever you go, you spread love and happiness. Keep on doing what you do. Thanks for sharing. See dung love from New Mexico.
Chris, (LOVE FROM PAKISTAN), I am following you from your Pakistan days, and you really are a kind soul and very different from other tourist to learn the language of area first and get to the people on personal level and bargain for higher prices or buy something you don't even need. Keep it going you have a long way to go and flourish due to your authenticity.
Your compassion makes the world 🌎 a better place to live. Giving is good for your soul. Soul is pure with no judgments. Sending my blessings to you with good health, happiness, peace and prosperity.
Good luck getting to your first 1mil subscribers! I bought a year subscription to duolingo but lost interest. Thanks for reigniting my drive to keep learning mandarin! You have a good heart ❤
The old man did overcharge you. How awful he was! He didn’t deserve your kindnesses! Anyway, as always I hope that you are safe and happy for your future trip!❤️
Thankyou, thankyou. I lived in Thailand as a kid and my parents taught me by example to treat every person with respect and kindness. The ripple effect for humanity And for the U.S. and the safety of our troops (by decreasing the chances of war) is immeasurable. Kindness always matters. 💛
I have watched your videos before ... what you did for the old man was awesome... thumbs up and suscribed! Great job!😊 Those logan fruit looked so yummy!
Tqvm for your kindness. It doesn't matter if he overcharged you because you were prepared to help him anyway. If the fruit is mangosteen, then it is definitely more expensive than local fruit. Wishing you the best.

the fact that you're speaking fluent Mandarin while helping the guy. awesome.

Thank you for your service, Sir. I escaped Vietnam in 1987 and settled in the U.S. in 1988.
Was that China? He spoke Chinese.
@@heythave No, Vietnam. Chris speaks multiple languages.
Yeah, he mentioned a city in China though.
@@heythave This is in China, they even said it in the video.
You are an incredible human being. Not just on linguistic skills but on your kind hearted love of humanity.
He was an honest man. No,he didn't over charge you.

This is not the case in Asian countries. Many take care of their elderly
@user-vm5ud4xw6n or he just wanted to hawk to stay active

Chris rất tốt bụng , bạn không phân biệt quốc gia và giúp đỡ những người khó khăn ❤
My mother told me that self praise is no recommendation. Do your good deed and keep it between you and him.
That was sweet. I also liked those guys who wanted to give you some money because you spent so much doing a good thing. I forget how many good people I met in China.
Chris you are a great representative of how us Americans really are. Our government, and media really ruin it for us.

@@user-jz6el6qi1vThey were cruel to you probably because they thought you looked lower-class and had nothing good in particular
Respect....It breaks my heart seeing elderly still doing hard labor just trying to survive.

Well he said around 400, then he decided to increase the price after he realized Chris was going to clean him out.
