- In this video my friend Nathan from Sea Clear Power shows how to install and setup the Lowrance Active Target forward facing sonar like the pros. Nathan has rigged out a bunch of pro angler bass boats and he shows you exactly how to install and tweak Active Target with your Lowrance HDS and Elite sonar units.

Can't wait to see you use this! They ALREADY can't hide from you bro!
Looking forward to seeing you use this. I’ve been considering purchasing, so your input is well timed!
Awesome start to this video. I bought that Bull shad a couple of years ago because of watching your video. I've caught some big fish on it. Great video. I might just have to get one of these Active Targets.
🎊🎉 CONGRATULATIONS Mikey,I absolutely love my unit on my 14 foot Tracker Topper,I only use Scout mode ,you’ve made an incredible investment ❤️👏👏
Thanks for the awesome learning content. Always such great tips!
Nathan is a nice guy. Good work 👍
Bought mine last month. U will enjoy it.
Great Job Nate
Thanks for all the help. Watched this slowly during my install.
How'd it come out?
@@mikeybalzz Good. Kept it roughed in to make sure all cables were good in movement and could be adjusted. Had to watch a few more vids for settings and interpretation. Thanks again.
Good video! I love my Active Target! I do advise getting a seperate pole mount for it though, it drove me crazy not being able to have any control over where it was pointed when you're spot-locked.
Agreed. I got the one from Low Pro Rod Rack and like it ok. I ended up having to drill through the shaft so I could put a cotterless hitch pin in it to keep it still while I trailer the boat, but no big deal. Totally worth it to have something that deploys and stows with the trolling motor.
You're gonna have fun with that!
Best video ever , on ya mate
Great video
Most excellent
Good stuff.
Little tip on the remote wake-up wire. What's not mentioned here is that it had an issue with not working correctly at the time of release. The Active Target software update from 4/29/21 must be installed for the wake-up wire to work correctly.
Mikey I used to be jealous of all the time you get to spend on the water now I’m jealous of your electronics😜
Got an appointment Tuesday morning @ 8:00.
If installing this on an Elite FS unit the yellow wire will need to be connected with the Red power wire or to a switched 12V source such as the Power switch on the dash of many boats. Although the Elite FS power harness has a yellow wire it is not connected or used by the unit.
Mikey, how and what did you use to get from your front storage/rod box to the front bow plate?
I need Nathan to wire up my boat!
Nice
Another good reason to use electric tape over zip ties......
1.When fishing a lot.a grass. The tape won't grab the like zip ties will and the grass is easier to clear from the TM.
2. Zip ties can leave a sharp edge that could cut your line is the fish get around the TM.
Where did you hook up the ground wire for the black box?
What happens to the taped wire when you want to lift your motor for shallow water?
Mikey do you ever use your hydro wave anymore ?
Great vid Mike, love your style an dog too (I have two on my boat:)).
One question on active target interference, I use it a lot with forward mode, also mounted on ghost shaft with hds live 12, I have contrast way up and usually noise setting at medium, still I have lots of interference, wondering if that is not from regular sonar in the ghost or smthg else:/.. do you switch off that sonar maybe? Any other advice from you or Nathan?🙏,
Best regards from Poland:)
Robert
Robert I get quite a bit of noise as well with the contrast turned up. However I'm able to see more as well I think the trick is finding a balance between the contrast level and the amount of noise. I will tell u the active target 2 has definitely improved on quality and noise reduction.
No bass is safe now. Looking forward to watching u do it to em.
I'm running my active target to its own battery, do I need to run 10g wire to that battery or can I just run the power wire it comes with to that battery?
did you install a dedicated lithium for this set up?
BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM....GGGGAAAAAAMMMMEEEE CHANGER
Hey Bog!
The video didn't show what batteries you used. How many batteries do you have? What voltage is your active target using? 24volts or 12volts?
Does active target come with cables
When i hooked up my yellow to yellow it doesn't power on my at box but when i run yellow to red it powers on
How does it cost to install
Man it would be nice if they had a product to install a lowrance reveal (or any other) transducer to a minnkota ulterra with auto deploy it would be great! There's really not much of anything good out there!?
no. i'd like to see an independant rail on the ghost as well instead of mounting it to the shaft.
@@mikeybalzz yeah I hear you there. Either one would be a good option!
where do you get those screw on connectors for the wiring?
It's my Sea Clear wiring harness bit.ly/3f1R9vq
@@mikeybalzz don't need a 300 dollar harness just want some of the connectors
What kind of connectors does he use?
Posi Locks. Search on Amazon for them.
Uh oh😳
zip ties, duck tape and WD-40
Who else thinks he sounds like Bill Clinton?
I would worry in stump fields they would knock the crap out of that transducer or break it off. People put so much crap on their trolling motor shafts that can so easily be destroyed. Not liking that !
It’s ashamed the people don’t answer you if you have serious question
So I have had it for a month..... to be honest not impressed rarely works when it does cool but heads up to everyone buy garmin!!!!
Also wanna say there customer service is awful! Answered right away but they have zero knowledge just read the manual like we all do
