Honestly, at least in my experience with Whacka, he’s not that hard if you go in with the right badges and the right strategy. I had several defensive badges equipped, which, combined with Power Lift, halved the damage I took from each Whacka Bump, so I beat him pretty easily without Superguarding. If you’re not increasing your defense and are taking full damage from each bump…then yeah, you might wanna learn to Superguard.
Koops' Shell Shield also makes a turn of Whacka's attacks completely safe for Mario, no matter how good of a Shell Shield you ended up getting. Can't use the same strategy for Mush to beat him, though.

People seem to forget that the only Toad boss in the series prior to this was The Master. Toads in the Paper Mario series are built different, since every single one we've seen fight, with the sole exception of Professor Toad (and probably another modern paper mario toad) has been one of the most powerful entities in their game. I went into the fight knowing that I was gonna get absolutely destroyed, and I've still yet to beat Prince Mush.

Okay, but like, can we talk about how this song has a _completely_ different vibe from basically everything else on the soundtrack? Almost nothing is immune to the "goofy-heroic" vibe of Paper Mario, _except this song._ If you're like me and you notice that sort of thing subconsciously, that makes stuff like this hit so much harder. I'm still of the opinion that Champion Lance's Theme from Pokemon is one of the best examples; you get there, and suddenly a completely different type of song starts up, and you're like "Oh, shit just got real, didn't it?" (And then if you're like little kid me, you get your ass kicked by his three freakin Dragonites.) This song is like that, except by merit of being the most unapologetically stereotypical "badass 90's AMV" song I've ever heard, which is very out of place in this game.

This was honestly THE most fun fight in the game for me. I really felt like I was fighting an equal for once, we were both using such bizarre tricks against each other, and the other always had some kind of counter to make it bearable. It wasn’t a fight against a monstrous beast or ancient demon, but it was a close fight, and that’s the best kind of fight in my eyes
So Mush is finally gonna be fought, eh? I wonder what tricks he has up his shelves. On another note, his theme is absolutely epic! Among the best in the game already!
You know what’s really ironic? Rawk Hawk is said to be a cheating coward who uses underhanded tricks to win. Prince Mush is said to be a squeaky-clean fighter who will come straight at you with no bullshit. Yet from a gameplay standpoint, it actually ends up being the opposite. Rawk Hawk is just a fair, ordinary boss fight that doesn’t throw anything particularly wild at the player. Meanwhile, Prince Mush is a superboss whose fight throws all sorts of crazy shit at you, from one-hit KO attacks to being forced to Superguard to win. Funny, huh?
@@theivoryguy2476 I don’t mean that his fight literally breaks game rules-it’s not like there’s an official TTYD rulebook stating what is and isn’t legal in a boss fight. I just mean that his fight uses a lot of very unusual and unorthodox mechanics and is pretty rigged against the player by default-again, by way of being able to KO you in one hit and forcing you to Superguard, which is a very tricky mechanic to master-forcing them to learn to adapt and use specific strategies in order to overcome the overwhelming odds.

I over leveled on purpose before going to Chapter 2. I had to squeeze out two runs of the Pit of 100 Trials. Then I progressed through the game until after Chapter 6. Despite going out of my way to over level, and playing with a really good badge setup, Prince Mush proceeded to wipe the floor with me a total of 4 times. And the entire time I was smiling and giggling like an idiot. I really love this game so much. ❤
The fact he’s even more difficult than The Master in PM1 is insane. I can see why Rawk Hawk cheated and poisoned him with cake right before his finale match with him. There’s no way Rawk Hawk was beating Prince Mush fairly.
I'm not ashamed to admit that Prince Mush gave me my first lost. Also I love how this battle is a test to how well you understand combat and superguards. It feels really good to superguard him and just lay down the hurt on Mush with as much damage as you can. Granted I didn't skip over phase 2, but the point still stands. I am glad to see a Prince Mush battle and the second new superboss become a reality.
I was able to get it third try, during the second time i was wondering why i couldn't damage him but then i remembered the goombella tattle saying something about superguards, then i was like, i might as well try that and i was surprised to learn his defenses dropped completely in that state, this was a fun fight to do blind, i was caught off guard of the crazy damage he did later in the fight. Good fight indeed...
Always wanted to fight him. Got upset when it was implied in the first one and then there was no way of doing it. Now there is one and I couldn't be happier. Beat him very easily though.
Or, you do what I did: spam Charge, do some damage with your partner while making sure not to trigger his second phase, and then end him with a clean 30-30 jump attack :V
@@ShycoWar I did that with Yoshi, I kept him hidden with Boo Sheets while Mario was using Badges that makes enemy attacks miss every so often, but then I unintentionally super guarded him while Mario was in front.😅 by the time that happened Yoshi could do 28-23 damage with Ground Pound, so I took advantage of that.
I got so angry the first three tries at fighting him, I turned the game off and took a break to cool off. I came back, practiced my super gaurds with the other toad, and was able to beat him first try. Your only two options with Mush is to either learn to super guard or go maximum cheese mode.
I abused Charge P, Quick Change, Lucky Day, Danger Tanking, Power Lift, and Power/Mega Rush (P) so that when Yoshi gave him the Six Shot Butt Bounce he took 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15. Killed him from full health, and I'm glad I cheesed him because once I looked up the kind of bullshit he pulls I wanted no part of it.
I love how the Tattle entry implies that Rawk Hawk knew damn well he couldn’t beat Prince Mush in a fair fight, so he used the poison cake trick that he tries on you
It's actually hinted earlier than that. There's a pair of fans of Rawk Hawk and Prince Mush arguing at the Glitz Pit, and the Mush fan accuses Rawk Hawk of having cheated with a poisoned cake, which foreshadows him trying the same trick on Mario during his climb up the ranks in the pit.

The fact that this fight exists and the fact that Intelligent Systems can still create inventive, player-testing fights in this battle system gives me a lot of hope for the future.
Not to downplay the new content (because it's great), but Prince Mush WAS cut content from the original game. So they weren't starting from scratch making the fight
@@itsmeikeI can't imagine them actually planning this exact fight for Mush at the time, to be completely honest, it doesn't seem like the kind of thing Nintendo would want to do at the time the game released. So they probably looked over what was previously planned and started brainstorming new ideas for previously cut content to give the really old and loyal fans something that they'd REALLY enjoy - challenging fights featuring characters that people had wanted to fight for ages. Granted, this is just me speculating. Without an interview or something, we'll probably never know.

Makes complete sense that his defense drops to 0 after a superguard. (might not actually be 0, this is a hypothetical statement, I haven't played the remake)
One thing I love about Prince Mush and his theme is that the whole thing just feels like an intense duel between two best friends. Mario saved him during the main story, so now Mush is hella inspired and wants to thank Mario by way of a no-holds-barred fight. Even though his moves are totally intense, this theme is super-upbeat and devoid of any malice. It makes sense when you think about it; the difference between a friendly duel between friends and _best_ friends is that best friends take the gloves off and play for keeps every single time. Mutual respect and honor compel both sides to give it their all. Anything less is an affront to their friendship.

I am currently maybe nearly half way through Chapter 4. About to meet Doopliss for the first time in my first playthrough of the Switch Remake of TTYD, which I kinda consider initially "defeating" him (????? at the time) to be the half-way point, when it gives a Chapter Cleared fake-out. One thing I observed about the absurd Prince Mush boss fight that just...invents new ideas for official, core TTYD, is that when he is hoppy, you actually SHOULD jump, because he dodges grounded direct attacks like Mario's Hammer and a LOT of the Partner attacks, and when he isn't hopping but just has his arms/hands out in front of and behind him, oddly enough, that's when you want to attack straight on, not by air, for the first phase of the fight, it seems.

As a kid I always wanted to see how strong Prince Mush was since he was hyped up so much. I never thought I’d have so much fun getting thrashed by a toad.
To be fair, from the original GC game it was implied that this specific Toad could kick ass when it is said that Rawk Hawk had to poison him with a poisoned cake to have a chance

@@cb8655In Paper Mario 64 you can fight a Super-Boss Toad (The Master). So it really isn’t the first time you can fight one in Paper Mario, Prince Mush is more so a sequel to that character from 64.
He *is* the hardest fight, he’s the only boss that pretty much forces you to superguard. The fact he can do like 100 damage in a turn is insane. Also I’m pretty sure he is immune to like every status or atleast they didn’t work for me.
This may be the single hardest boss in the Paper Mario series, if you’re bad at super guarding, this fight is literally impossible, and also he deals like 100 damage in a single turn Bonetail was a complete joke in comparison
Every Race seems to have its own fighting style, like all koopas do shell tricks and all goombas do headbonks...so i guess all toads do super martial arts
I’m a big fan of the “weak species becomes ridiculously strong through sheer martial prowess” trope, and by extension, Prince Mush. Badass theme for a badass boss.
As soon as he brought out his final phase and hit an attack that dealt a whopping *24 FRICKIN’ DAMAGE,* my jaw _dropped._ …And then he continued hitting for an additional 5 extra times, probably well over 100 damage in total. This guy is out to KILL. What an insane superboss.

The fact that this mf has _six defense_ is honestly maybe my favorite part of the fight. If I'm not mistaken, literally the only other enemy in the first two games with that much defense was _Kent C. Koopa,_ and there it was meant to be this insurmountable hurdle you had to find a trick to get around. Here it's like... yeah, I've got _six defense. Deal with it._ I was actually kind of sad to find out that what I thought was "permanent Dodgy" was actually just me not knowing his stances yet LOL, thinking I just had to _deal with him having a random chance to dodge any attack_ made it that much more intimidating. It finally felt like TTYD was _daring me_ to kick its ass like I've done all these years, stacking every Power Plus and P-Up D-Down to just lay waste to everything, and they literally couldn't have picked a better character to be the face of that challenge than the mythical first champion we've wanted to fight for almost _twenty years._ What a _moment,_ experiencing this fight for the first time. the _second_ time, i superguarded him twice early on and took him out before he even got to ENTER his second phase. that was a little sad lmao
when I fought him it was like this nightmare of dodging every strategy I had in the best way possible, when he started dodging crystal star moves and trolls you if you try veil i was appalled lmao
In all fairness, his superguard timings on first phase are quite a bit more tricky to learn than the second phase ones, so even if you're actively trying to superguard you'll often just reach second phase anyway
I've begun to theorize that Prince Mush wasn't this strong before he was drained, but his revival through the Gold Star, responsible for Power Lift, which can boost your attack and defense, granted him power upon his rebirth. Basically, Prince Mush's body with the Gold Star's power.
As a kid I DREAMED of a Prince Mush super boss fight. Seeing one actually happen nearly 15 years after I played the game for the first time is so beautiful. His animations, attacks, and difficulty level are EXACTLY what I had hoped for!
I mean Prince Mush did also need Mario to save him. That was a pretty significant thing that happened. Like I understand where you’re coming from here but Mush very much did need Mario to save him.
During the scene in the final boss where everyone comes together to cheer Mario and the gang on, I was half-expecting Prince Mush to fucking instant transmission into the Shadow Palace and oneshot the Shadow Queen. "Hey, it looks like this Shadow Queen's giving you a lot of trouble, huh, Mario? That must mean she's really strong! Let me fight her!"

Look Man I was absolutely Floored I Had Just Beaten Chapter 5. and decided to revisit the Glitz Pit since I Usually do that In the original and Noticed that Now Prince Mush Was asking for a battle. And I was ecstatic So many Things That Ive wanted to do in the original Have come true in the remake. and this is one of them. I beat him first try but I thought I was screwed. I went into this fight completely unassuming. I first said lets use Power Lift. 4 Power and 3 Defense. Surely this battle should be easy now. I send in Admiral Bobbery and his Bomb does absolutely nothing. I was like "...What?" Then I take like 10 damage. to Admiral. I start getting worried. " Okay maybe Goombella's Bio will help me," I used Mario's Turn To switch partners to Goombella. I bio'd him. 96 HP 6 Attack 6 Defense. I stared at the screen for a couple minutes. in utter shock. "What in the world am I looking at" Although terrified I did not back down. I fought my way through. I did a boosted Power Jump and... Missed?. HE DODGED MY ATTACK?????? On his turn He changed fighting stance. Ok maybe now I can attack I used Power Jump again and... 3... damage??? Keep in mind I had, Jumpman and Two PowerPlus badges and was still In Power Lift even accounting his 6 defense I shouldve done more. Then he charged his attack. I started getting worried. I start Spamming Art Attack since that pierces Defense. Maybe I can wear him down and appeal with my partner to use Art Attack and Finish him off. He then Jump Kicked into Goombella and absolutely MURDERED HER. An Ultra Ranked Goombella one shot dead. What the hell did I get Myself into. There Goes 1 of 3 Life Shrooms I was saving for the Pit of 100. Then I start to wear him down. He one shots Mario. Life Shroom 2. Then wear him down a little more. He charges and attacks. Goombella is Down. Last Lifeshroom is gone. and he still has 44 HP Left. I use my Boo's Cape on Mario To prolonge my damage and get another Art Attack In. He's Close.... But so am I! He charges and takes aim at Goombella and kills her dead now with no Life Shroom to help. I thought I was done for but a dim light of hope shined upon me. Because I was In the battle for so long at this point I was practiced enough to be able to SuperGuard his attacks. And so his next air kick I SuperGuarded and Not only negated damage. But I realized something Incredible. No matter the stance He becomes vulnurable and his defense DROPS. I'm not out yet. With careful timing and a couple misses. I SuperGuarded My way to him having 6 HP left. He charged and I... Missed the Super Guard. It left Mario in Peril and his stance was in Dodge mode. If I miss again I'm D-E-A-D M-E-A-T. I appealed as a sort of last send off. And he charged and I struck. He was stunned. and I Power Jumped and Ended the spectacular Prince Mush. This was intense for more reasons than one. Growing Up I always wanted to Fight a Secret Fight with Mush in the original TTYD. And now not only is that here but I expirienced the whole spectical. The absolute Draining Fear that passed over me the second I saw the HP amount. The crushing anxiety when I saw him trample my characters and waste away My 3 Life Shrooms I didn't even intend needing until The Pit of 100. And the unforgettable Triumph When I defeated what was once only a fight I could dream of. This was absolutely one of my favorite additions in the remake Here's to hoping They added The thing I by farrrrrr wanted the most since I first played TTYD Play Luigi's Story ✌🏻
I HAD SUCH A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE IN THE "IM SCREWED" VALUE. Like I was always curious abt prince mush when I played the original, and I only found out he got his own battle because I was looking at the full ost on youtube, scrolling, scrolling, prince mus- PRINCE MUSH?? HUH? ☠so i binged the game for a two days straight to get to him. Starting off I pull out Goombella first turn w/ the quick change badge. And I'm like, well he's a TOAD. It can't be that bad. It CANT be that bad. I REALLY HAD TO DO A DOUBLE TAKE WITH THOSE STATS 😭 I was in this battle for half an hour only to lose in the end.. Starting off with jumping, like you, AND HE DODGED. I already knew it was over. Absolutely done screwed over. Everytime I try to attack, coincidentally his stance would let him dodge. He was immune to Vivian's fire, immune to Bobbery's explosions, immune to clockout and all other items. LIKE HUH? FYM? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THEN? 😭 desperately latching onto sweet treat with my 10hp 10fp Mario.. I lost of course, however in another attempt, PRINCE MUSH DUPLICATES INTO THREE OF HIMSELF. They are NOT illusions, I had to beat all three. Didn't even get to think about it because he immediately took Koops out 3x in a row, all in one turn, using all three of my life shrooms, leaving Mario prone to absolute destruction. I can win in two turns now, but not without the permanent damage Prince Mush has left on my SOUL 😭

To be honest I thought he was immune in the beginning too, took my heart and soul to figure out "oh hey jumpy means you can just pounce him without him sliding to the side, pacing means he cant just hop out of the way of your ground attacks" but I would 100% drop the game for a day if i sat there as long as i did thinking he was just completely utterly invincible 😭
When I saw that in Goombella’s tattle, I remembered that Rawk Hawk did in fact poison Prince Mush and wondered if there was a way to cheese the fight with a cake although I’m thankful there wasn’t such thing. It’s much more satisfying to beat him as it’s intended!
@@aaronTGP_3756Let's not forget that Prince Mush can deal 110 damage in one attack, which would probably be scaled up in TOK, in his second phase he is invincible against absolutely EVERY attack except superguarding, and the only enemy in all of Paper Mario other than Black Shy Guys who can just straight up dodge your attacks.

People seem to forget that the only Toad boss in the series prior to this was The Master.
Toads in the Paper Mario series are built different, since every single one we've seen fight, with the sole exception of Professor Toad (and probably another modern paper mario toad) has been one of the most powerful entities in their game.
I went into the fight knowing that I was gonna get absolutely destroyed, and I've still yet to beat Prince Mush.

Okay, but like, can we talk about how this song has a _completely_ different vibe from basically everything else on the soundtrack? Almost nothing is immune to the "goofy-heroic" vibe of Paper Mario, _except this song._ If you're like me and you notice that sort of thing subconsciously, that makes stuff like this hit so much harder.
I'm still of the opinion that Champion Lance's Theme from Pokemon is one of the best examples; you get there, and suddenly a completely different type of song starts up, and you're like "Oh, shit just got real, didn't it?" (And then if you're like little kid me, you get your ass kicked by his three freakin Dragonites.) This song is like that, except by merit of being the most unapologetically stereotypical "badass 90's AMV" song I've ever heard, which is very out of place in this game.
Imagine a fight between Prince Mush and the Master from the original Paper Mario, both in their Prime.

This was honestly THE most fun fight in the game for me. I really felt like I was fighting an equal for once, we were both using such bizarre tricks against each other, and the other always had some kind of counter to make it bearable. It wasn’t a fight against a monstrous beast or ancient demon, but it was a close fight, and that’s the best kind of fight in my eyes
The master in 64 was a joke, and I was expecting a fight similar to that here. When this is what I got I've never been happier

Rawk Hawk is said to be a cheating coward who uses underhanded tricks to win.
Prince Mush is said to be a squeaky-clean fighter who will come straight at you with no bullshit.
Yet from a gameplay standpoint, it actually ends up being the opposite. Rawk Hawk is just a fair, ordinary boss fight that doesn’t throw anything particularly wild at the player. Meanwhile, Prince Mush is a superboss whose fight throws all sorts of crazy shit at you, from one-hit KO attacks to being forced to Superguard to win.

I just mean that his fight uses a lot of very unusual and unorthodox mechanics and is pretty rigged against the player by default-again, by way of being able to KO you in one hit and forcing you to Superguard, which is a very tricky mechanic to master-forcing them to learn to adapt and use specific strategies in order to overcome the overwhelming odds.

I over leveled on purpose before going to Chapter 2. I had to squeeze out two runs of the Pit of 100 Trials. Then I progressed through the game until after Chapter 6.
Despite going out of my way to over level, and playing with a really good badge setup, Prince Mush proceeded to wipe the floor with me a total of 4 times. And the entire time I was smiling and giggling like an idiot.

I'm not ashamed to admit that Prince Mush gave me my first lost. Also I love how this battle is a test to how well you understand combat and superguards. It feels really good to superguard him and just lay down the hurt on Mush with as much damage as you can. Granted I didn't skip over phase 2, but the point still stands. I am glad to see a Prince Mush battle and the second new superboss become a reality.

I was able to get it third try, during the second time i was wondering why i couldn't damage him but then i remembered the goombella tattle saying something about superguards, then i was like, i might as well try that and i was surprised to learn his defenses dropped completely in that state, this was a fun fight to do blind, i was caught off guard of the crazy damage he did later in the fight. Always wanted to fight him. Got upset when it was implied in the first one and then there was no way of doing it. Now there is one and I couldn't be happier. Beat him very easily though.

@@ShycoWar I did that with Yoshi, I kept him hidden with Boo Sheets while Mario was using Badges that makes enemy attacks miss every so often, but then I unintentionally super guarded him while Mario was in front.😅 by the time that happened Yoshi could do 28-23 damage with Ground Pound, so I took advantage of that.

I got so angry the first three tries at fighting him, I turned the game off and took a break to cool off.
I came back, practiced my super gaurds with the other toad, and was able to beat him first try.
Your only two options with Mush is to either learn to super guard or go maximum cheese mode.
I abused Charge P, Quick Change, Lucky Day, Danger Tanking, Power Lift, and Power/Mega Rush (P) so that when Yoshi gave him the Six Shot Butt Bounce he took 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15. Killed him from full health, and I'm glad I cheesed him because once I looked up the kind of bullshit he pulls I wanted no part of it.
Remember, Mush got that strong and fought in the Glitz Piz just to support his poor family. If he’s not a pure family man, I don’t know who is.
Yeah and after he beats you up mercilessly and calmly states "Good Fight!", What a guy.

It's actually hinted earlier than that. There's a pair of fans of Rawk Hawk and Prince Mush arguing at the Glitz Pit, and the Mush fan accuses Rawk Hawk of having cheated with a poisoned cake, which foreshadows him trying the same trick on Mario during his climb up the ranks in the pit.

So they probably looked over what was previously planned and started brainstorming new ideas for previously cut content to give the really old and loyal fans something that they'd REALLY enjoy - challenging fights featuring characters that people had wanted to fight for ages.
Granted, this is just me speculating. Without an interview or something, we'll probably never know.

Makes complete sense that his defense drops to 0 after a superguard. (might not actually be 0, this is a hypothetical statement, I haven't played the remake)
One thing I love about Prince Mush and his theme is that the whole thing just feels like an intense duel between two best friends. Mario saved him during the main story, so now Mush is hella inspired and wants to thank Mario by way of a no-holds-barred fight. Even though his moves are totally intense, this theme is super-upbeat and devoid of any malice.
It makes sense when you think about it; the difference between a friendly duel between friends and _best_ friends is that best friends take the gloves off and play for keeps every single time. Mutual respect and honor compel both sides to give it their all. Anything less is an affront to their friendship.

@@daridon2483 Yeah, that alone is crazy to see, but the mega kill you 5-hit combo move of zipping around at Mario is, uh...Intimidating just to see someone else to deal with. I am currently maybe nearly half way through Chapter 4. About to meet Doopliss for the first time in my first playthrough of the Switch Remake of TTYD, which I kinda consider initially "defeating" him (????? at the time) to be the half-way point, when it gives a Chapter Cleared fake-out.
One thing I observed about the absurd Prince Mush boss fight that just...invents new ideas for official, core TTYD, is that when he is hoppy, you actually SHOULD jump, because he dodges grounded direct attacks like Mario's Hammer and a LOT of the Partner attacks, and when he isn't hopping but just has his arms/hands out in front of and behind him, oddly enough, that's when you want to attack straight on, not by air, for the first phase of the fight, it seems.
I feel bad for whatever poor soul ends up having to grind to an insane level because they're hopeless at superguarding...

The fact that this mf has _six defense_ is honestly maybe my favorite part of the fight. If I'm not mistaken, literally the only other enemy in the first two games with that much defense was _Kent C. Koopa,_ and there it was meant to be this insurmountable hurdle you had to find a trick to get around. Here it's like... yeah, I've got _six defense. Deal with it._
I was actually kind of sad to find out that what I thought was "permanent Dodgy" was actually just me not knowing his stances yet LOL, thinking I just had to _deal with him having a random chance to dodge any attack_ made it that much more intimidating. It finally felt like TTYD was _daring me_ to kick its ass like I've done all these years, stacking every Power Plus and P-Up D-Down to just lay waste to everything, and they literally couldn't have picked a better character to be the face of that challenge than the mythical first champion we've wanted to fight for almost _twenty years._ What a _moment,_ experiencing this fight for the first time.
the _second_ time, i superguarded him twice early on and took him out before he even got to ENTER his second phase. that was a little sad lmao
when I fought him it was like this nightmare of dodging every strategy I had in the best way possible, when he started dodging crystal star moves and trolls you if you try veil i was appalled lmao
In all fairness, his superguard timings on first phase are quite a bit more tricky to learn than the second phase ones, so even if you're actively trying to superguard you'll often just reach second phase anyway

I've begun to theorize that Prince Mush wasn't this strong before he was drained, but his revival through the Gold Star, responsible for Power Lift, which can boost your attack and defense, granted him power upon his rebirth. Basically, Prince Mush's body with the Gold Star's power.
He stated himself that he trained to get to this point so I can believe this theory.
counterproposal: the Gold Star has Power Lift _because_ it managed to siphon off part of Prince Mush's power. He was actually much stronger before.
I'm pretty sure he was always powerful. Otherwise, Rawk Hawk wouldn't go through the trouble to poison him with cake before their battle

As a kid I DREAMED of a Prince Mush super boss fight. Seeing one actually happen nearly 15 years after I played the game for the first time is so beautiful. His animations, attacks, and difficulty level are EXACTLY what I had hoped for!

I mean Prince Mush did also need Mario to save him. That was a pretty significant thing that happened. Like I understand where you’re coming from here but Mush very much did need Mario to save him.
This beast could be the Master's grandson and that wouldn't even surprise me.
During the scene in the final boss where everyone comes together to cheer Mario and the gang on, I was half-expecting Prince Mush to fucking instant transmission into the Shadow Palace and oneshot the Shadow Queen.
"Hey, it looks like this Shadow Queen's giving you a lot of trouble, huh, Mario? That must mean she's really strong! Let me fight her!"

I Had Just Beaten Chapter 5. and decided to revisit the Glitz Pit since I Usually do that In the original and Noticed that Now Prince Mush Was asking for a battle. And I was ecstatic
So many Things That Ive wanted to do in the original Have come true in the remake. and this is one of them.
I beat him first try but I thought I was screwed. I went into this fight completely unassuming. I first said lets use Power Lift. 4 Power and 3 Defense.
Surely this battle should be easy now. I send in Admiral Bobbery and his Bomb does absolutely nothing. I was like "...What?"
Then I take like 10 damage. to Admiral. I start getting worried. " Okay maybe Goombella's Bio will help me," I used Mario's Turn To switch partners to Goombella. I bio'd him. 96 HP 6 Attack 6 Defense. I stared at the screen for a couple minutes. in utter shock. "What in the world am I looking at" Although terrified I did not back down. I fought my way through. I did a boosted Power Jump and... Missed?. HE DODGED MY ATTACK?????? On his turn He changed fighting stance. Ok maybe now I can attack I used Power Jump again and... 3... damage??? Keep in mind I had, Jumpman and Two PowerPlus badges and was still In Power Lift even accounting his 6 defense I shouldve done more. Then he charged his attack. I started getting worried. I start Spamming Art Attack since that pierces Defense. Maybe I can wear him down and appeal with my partner to use Art Attack and Finish him off. He then Jump Kicked into Goombella and absolutely MURDERED HER. An Ultra Ranked Goombella one shot dead. What the hell did I get Myself into. There Goes 1 of 3 Life Shrooms I was saving for the Pit of 100. Then I start to wear him down. He one shots Mario. Life Shroom 2. Then wear him down a little more. He charges and attacks. Goombella is Down. Last Lifeshroom is gone. and he still has 44 HP Left. I use my Boo's Cape on Mario To prolonge my damage and get another Art Attack In. He's Close.... But so am I! He charges and takes aim at Goombella and kills her dead now with no Life Shroom to help. I thought I was done for but a dim light of hope shined upon me. Because I was In the battle for so long at this point I was practiced enough to be able to SuperGuard his attacks. And so his next air kick I SuperGuarded and Not only negated damage. But I realized something Incredible. No matter the stance He becomes vulnurable and his defense DROPS. I'm not out yet. With careful timing and a couple misses. I SuperGuarded My way to him having 6 HP left. He charged and I... Missed the Super Guard. It left Mario in Peril and his stance was in Dodge mode. If I miss again I'm D-E-A-D M-E-A-T. I appealed as a sort of last send off. And he charged and I struck. He was stunned. and I Power Jumped and Ended the spectacular Prince Mush.
This was intense for more reasons than one.
Growing Up I always wanted to Fight a Secret Fight with Mush in the original TTYD. And now not only is that here but I expirienced the whole spectical. The absolute Draining Fear that passed over me the second I saw the HP amount. The crushing anxiety when I saw him trample my characters and waste away My 3 Life Shrooms I didn't even intend needing until The Pit of 100. And the unforgettable Triumph When I defeated what was once only a fight I could dream of. This was absolutely one of my favorite additions in the remake
Here's to hoping They added The thing I by farrrrrr wanted the most since I first played TTYD

I HAD SUCH A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE IN THE "IM SCREWED" VALUE. Like I was always curious abt prince mush when I played the original, and I only found out he got his own battle because I was looking at the full ost on youtube, scrolling, scrolling, prince mus- PRINCE MUSH?? HUH? ☠so i binged the game for a two days straight to get to him.
Starting off I pull out Goombella first turn w/ the quick change badge. And I'm like, well he's a TOAD. It can't be that bad. It CANT be that bad. I REALLY HAD TO DO A DOUBLE TAKE WITH THOSE STATS 😭 I was in this battle for half an hour only to lose in the end.. Starting off with jumping, like you, AND HE DODGED. I already knew it was over. Absolutely done screwed over. Everytime I try to attack, coincidentally his stance would let him dodge. He was immune to Vivian's fire, immune to Bobbery's explosions, immune to clockout and all other items. LIKE HUH? FYM? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THEN? 😭 desperately latching onto sweet treat with my 10hp 10fp Mario.. I lost of course, however in another attempt, PRINCE MUSH DUPLICATES INTO THREE OF HIMSELF. They are NOT illusions, I had to beat all three. Didn't even get to think about it because he immediately took Koops out 3x in a row, all in one turn, using all three of my life shrooms, leaving Mario prone to absolute destruction. I can win in two turns now, but not without the permanent damage Prince Mush has left on my SOUL 😭

@@nintendodork64173 That sounds terrible too 😭😭I was lucky enough to figure out everything about mush before my winning battle, but i literally had to throw absolutely everything at him to be educated 😭😭 the HORROR. To be honest I thought he was immune in the beginning too, took my heart and soul to figure out "oh hey jumpy means you can just pounce him without him sliding to the side, pacing means he cant just hop out of the way of your ground attacks" but I would 100% drop the game for a day if i sat there as long as i did thinking he was just completely utterly invincible 😭

When I saw that in Goombella’s tattle, I remembered that Rawk Hawk did in fact poison Prince Mush and wondered if there was a way to cheese the fight with a cake although I’m thankful there wasn’t such thing. It’s much more satisfying to beat him as it’s intended!

After being poisoned and fighting Rawk Hawk most likely. He was probably already weakened.

Before I found out about this boss, I thought Scissors was the most dangerous Paper Mario character. Prince Mush can probably tear Scissors to shreds.

The way I see it, Scissors is just a much cockier and more psychopathic version of Mush, with the addition of his un-guardable slice attack.
@@aaronTGP_3756Let's not forget that Prince Mush can deal 110 damage in one attack, which would probably be scaled up in TOK, in his second phase he is invincible against absolutely EVERY attack except superguarding, and the only enemy in all of Paper Mario other than Black Shy Guys who can just straight up dodge your attacks.
If Prince Mush was in Super Mario Bros. Z he would probably take on Metallix and still be unstoppable.
This is a FREAKING FANTASTIC final secret boss. When playing the original I always thought how cool it would be if we could challenge Prince Mush to a battle. NOW HERE WE ARE!
