The Army has changed so much since I went through boot in 77. It’s like night and day. No question in my mind that it is better, especially the training aspect, they seem to value each soldier.

Piano Roots Music I went through Basic Training at Ft Lewis back in 1971! At that time there was an outbreak of spinal meningitis at all of the bases. There had to be minimum bunk spacing and the barracks (WWII era barracks) windows had to all be opened the exact length of a dollar bill. We were all briefed on what the symptoms of meningitis were and to watch each other and report to the Drill Instructor if we saw them. Also you were forbidden to take aspirin unless prescribed by the med unit. Aspirin masks the symptoms of meningitis. Never imagined something as bad as COVID 19. Worried about Victor Charlie slipping under the wire. Sapper Time.☠️
When did your family receive your address so they could start sending letters? My boyfriend just left this thursday. And ik normally recruits get to call when they get there with their address. But ofc its different now. So do you have any clue?
Karigan Williams well it may be different for him than for me but I got my first call after reception. So about a week or 2. He will be able to send letter as soon as basic starts. But it may take a while to reach you.
I was at Fort Benning in the 1980's. If this was going on back then, I don't know how my drill Sargents would react. I thought that it was different at the start of the video when the drill Sargent said females raise their hands. Back then they didn't have female recruits. Times do change. I think that they are doing a great job 👍 during these times. Thanks for the video and the great job.

I went through earlier this year Covid kicked off about 2/3 of the way through my 22 week infantry cycle DFAC was shut down and we ate field chow and MRE’s it was funny having the muscle memory of packing in as many bodies into the space we had and then going to 6 feet apart for everything. Nightmare for the drills lmao

Unfortunately for you dude I’m still in the army. But, what I can tell you make sure that is something you really want. When I was there a lot of people was suicidal and homicidal because they found themselves in a situation they didn’t expect. Trust me you have no idea what you getting yourself into. Basic suck no matter what, but winter basic is a different suck🥶🥶🥶

I was there this summer. Left at the end of august and all we did was wear masks and hope someone didn’t catch it. A lot of people caught it. To the point where Camp Kelley (the place they were putting all the sick people) got full. They had to close the reception bays because the drill Sergeant didn’t quarantine us. We got put into a bay with 91 people. When I got to my actual troop so many people caught corona and one of my buddies who caught it and when to camp Kelley said they ran out of food, water, medical supplies, the CDC came and that they were mixing the positive and negative people. I went with my battle buddy and a drill Sergeant and when we got there it looked like a war zone literally and where the food was wasps and flys were all on it. The list just goes on. Fort Benning is the only place that didn’t do quarantine the way they were supposed to do it. Every other fort did it correctly. Hopefully they’ve started doing things right.

It feels hollow in the civilian even though I make a lot more. I was a supply man in the Air Force. This time I'm going to get more action and see if I can go in as 11B or vehicle operations.
Aw man... Reception holder details. I remember those days. I had to sit in reception 3.5weeks because there was such an influx during July 2002. Not enough room to push people out to anywhere.
Unfortunately, we don't have the information to properly answer that question. However, much of what you see in the video will be the same or at least quite similar, such as what your barracks will look like as well as some of the COVID-19 mitigation measures. Hope that helps!

When I went through my troop had no females. But a few troops did. They caused a bit a trouble some times lol

Prime I’m 11b , it’s pretty fun but there are days where I’d rather be a POG. It’s really what you make of it though.

I went thru 30th A hell hole and then I was shipped to basic being part of one of the first 22 weeks cycle made I will say that the training tough and hard but you know what I made me a better person 11B forever
We were put in a bay at Charlie co 30th ag with 90 people. So many people got their career sidetracked by covid.
I hated Charlie rock.

It depends on which barracks building you are in, but the one in the video has a parallel array of walls as you saw.
For me, reception: walls. Actual BCT: no walls.
@@mattatta it's ever changing. I was in two barracks at 30th AG, the first had walls, the second didn't. Then down range we had walls.
