Odd enough, when I talk to some of my friends, when I *don't* go "Mhmm" or "right" they'll ask if I'm listening or not lol. It's all about balance and timing, really.

Don't worry it's actually a really good way to show that your listening (as long as you actually are), as well as a good trigger to tell your brain "hey pay attention" the way it's portrayed here is overboard obviously for comedic purposes but more people should be "active listeners" it keeps you and the the person talking or telling the story more engaged.

TheMadHatterThatMatters Dude have a conversation with someone who shows they are listening and engaged and someone who doesn't and tell me which one you like
Thing is that "ok" "uhuh" and "oh" are all mostly reflexive responsive that anyone can give despite them not paying any attention to what you're saying. I have a friend that would laugh when I finished saying something because I had an amused expression on my face; thing is what I said was completely serious and not a joke or anything funny.

He said "uh-huh, yeah, right, ok, right" while another guy was talking _so much_, all I could think about was this video and it almost made me want to laugh out loud, except it was suuuuper annoying, too, after a while. Kalina Hill Respond after the person has stopped talking, there's nothing more annoying when you're trying to explain something to someone and they keep talking whilst you're talking.
We Nordic people are often called out for not being able to do small talk. My Finnish friend spent a year in USA and despite being a really social and cheerful people thought he had a depression because he was relatively quiet and respectful during conversations. Is that really such a bad thing? At least we listen to you until the end of the sentence!
yeah, uh... american here. we don't actually "talk too much". your friend was just surrounded by extroverted people. extroverts inhabit every country. they're pretty chill. not just an american thing. or really an american thing at all. it's just a thing.
Americans in general are particularly extraverted though and it's a trait that is encouraged culturally. Where as Finns are some of the most introverted people in the world and stuff like small talk and eye contact just isn't that important to them. There are of course both extraverts and introverts in both places but they are culturally different.
this is super interesting . In Seattle people are known for similar personality traits. I read that quite a few people from Nordic countries immigrated to the Seattle region and over time it has affected the culture. People there are supposedly less "friendly" there than other parts of the U.S.. this phenomena even has a name : the "Seattle freeze" lol.

That ending!!! But I found I sometimes do this (not to this much of a degree...) when I do customer service over the phone. Usually I try to limit it to one or two mutters of "Oh, I see..." and "Yeah, certainly, we can do that!"
FreakFilms101 That wouldn't really work s a formula. One doesn't talk at all and only replies with "haven't heard of that" and the other just interrupts someone by agreeing with what they're saying, which can't happen if the other person doesn't even talk.
Irritating af. The contrast when the main actually listened quietly to his monologue. I actually don't care if he actually listened through his hyperactive affirmations, what i care is its absolute chaos when they speak over the speaker.
Loved it! I will say though that when I am on the phone, I do want someone who responds - although not as frequently as the character depicted here. Thank you - I just found you and am enjoying these quite a bit!
I am a big fan of active listening...but this definitely reminds me to keep it in check haha. There is an art to it, but its definitely better than just staring at someone in silence for 3 minutes straight.
The funny thing about me is when I am not checking in way too much like the guy in this video I stare at people in silence for three minutes straight probably has something to do with my autism.
I have autism and I always check in too much like this guy or too little. I know you're supposed to let somebody finish their sentence or point before you check in but I have a hard time figuring that out. This problem has embarrassed me many times but I'm working to improve my communication.

Cole F. It's okay, cuz if I rip open my asshole with a pair of pliers, I'll find the page there!
I want to investigate the spooky old McCreary house!
That ending!!! But I found I sometimes do this (not to this much of a degree...) when I do customer service over the phone. Usually I try to limit it to one or two mutters of "Oh, I see..." and "Yeah, certainly, we can do that!"
I’m this guy :(
can we get a Ronathan and Tedward episode?
FreakFilms101 That wouldn't really work s a formula. One doesn't talk at all and only replies with "haven't heard of that" and the other just interrupts someone by agreeing with what they're saying, which can't happen if the other person doesn't even talk.
Listening to him is driving me insane.
I've met so many people like this and they act so nice and so I feel guilty if I scold them.
This is literally a gold script👏🏾
I like how the names of the annoying guys are like slightly odder versions of common names like Ronathan and Tedward 😂😂
I am one-hundred percent this person and I hate myself. Especially with texting (no wonder my friends hate me)
I would seriously punch someone like that in the face if they did that.
I cannot believe my Eng lecturer attached this vid link in a lesson file for us to view lmao
Fr 😂 W teacher
Irritating af. The contrast when the main actually listened quietly to his monologue. I actually don't care if he actually listened through his hyperactive affirmations, what i care is its absolute chaos when they speak over the speaker.
The thing is, I actually know people who do this. 😂 makes convos really akward. It's like "JUST SHUT UP AND LET ME TALK 😂😂😂"
every visit to the apple store
Collegehumour has thought me only one thing, in these scenarios a closed fist is the only solution. Or drugs, lots and lots of drugs.
annoying as heck to experience, annoying as heck to watch
nailed it
I watched like 50 of these videos, this one is still the top spot.
Hahaha Ronathan! I have never heard of anyone named Ronathan.
AKmotorider150 and I have never heard of someone named AKmotorider150
That is, quite obviously, not my name. That is a username.
AKmotorider150 Ronathan, is obviously not his real name. It's just a character.
***** I'm aware of that. It's just the prospect of a person named Ronathan, like the fictional depiction in this video, is funny.
Hyperactive Listening. Haha.
that was hard to watch
@@ryanhudson5643 i mean, what else are you supposed to do?
Im stoned and this is hilarious
MEMEMEET I'm hilarious and this is stoned.
Ronathan once asked me "hey, hows it going?" and when i started telling him how it was going.... he walked away. -_-
I have autism and I always check in too much like this guy or too little. I know you're supposed to let somebody finish their sentence or point before you check in but I have a hard time figuring that out. This problem has embarrassed me many times but I'm working to improve my communication.
As an aspie I feel this 😢 I just feel like people talk too slow sometimes when I already know what they're going to say.
This is me im sorry 💀
*yes I got it, sure, sure"
Hands down the best CH video
50% of the teachers at my school.
@DonaldTrump
This is my doctor😭
I miss these sketches, they don't do them anymore !
