@@technithusiastA lot of my original system is hardwired, big thick cables with 15 or 20 pairs going all over in the attic and walls. That old serial system got hit by lightening a long time ago. My new stuff stuff is hooked into Home Assistant. This is my first time viewing your videos. I do have a couple of questions for you. I noticed your demos of automations and it looks like you are usinf=g flows and not the HaomeAssistan automations. I found that Haomey Pro uses flows, so are you using Homey Pro? Also ,do you have videos for using HomeAssistant? Thanks in advance.
Hi thanks for reaching out! The automations I create are Home Assistant but I use a tool call Node Red which gives a high degree of power and flexibility that can't be achieved in the Yaml based automation home assistant provides. Node-Red is its own application but it is also a Home Assistant Add-on (that's how i got started with it). As a software dev, I feel more at home with Node-Red so make all my automations there exclusively. I do have a website ( www.technithusiast.com/chaperone ) where i provide the code (JSON) that NodeRed can use to import automations (similar to blueprints)
I’m very impressed. You were mentioning about plugging in your phone to detect that you are going to bed. You could use a Sonoff S31 plug which measures power usage. When you plug in your phone (at the bedside), the power usage will go up from zero.

Mate, I discover your channel just some days ago and it's awesome. I already followed how integrate GPT with Telegram. I stil have some issue, that some command not trigger or give me some strange errors. I have some an idea. Will be possible made it more smart? For example give the exact name of the home (for example in your case KE) and over telegram say: HI KE. And he reply with a question or asking what he can do it for you and start conversation.
Hi and thanks for watching! Im definitely working towards that kind of integration. I created a simple prototype of this feature using iPhone shortcuts ua-cam.com/video/5y2ONZGfVX0/v-deo.html but im hoping to creat something more seamless and agnostic
I don’t know if you’ve done this or not, but I’ve wanted this feature ever since ChatGPT came out. I don’t have the skill set though. I want full voice control of my house using real English language and use ChatGPT to interpret the language and select the function. Similar to what you did in the video but by voice, I also want it to have a voice reply to things using a randomly generated txt from ChatGPT to convey what was done. Example : a friend comes in my house and says “Jarvis, turn the lights on.” That gets converted to txt, sent to ChatGPT, ChatGPT can see that the voice came from the living room and there’s a person in the living room, and sends the command to home assistant to turn the living room light on. Then reply’s over the speaker “I turned the living room light on for you”. Or “Ok.” Or “will do.” If it does know have it clarify what they are asking for and then do that function. Also since there’s a light monitor it’d be cool to have the light monitor confirm whether the light actually turned on and if it didn’t to notify me that it didn’t work but will try again and then proceed to keep trying until it turns on.
So this is what I’m trying to work up to but the physical hardware tech isn’t mainstream enough to pull this off in an easy manner which is why I started with the AI Chatbot. The Bot does EVERYTHING you just describe except we have to type it out. Im watching closely home assistant’s year of voice improvements to see if they develop a simpler way of talking to the system but I don’t like the way they’re doing it. My ideal scenario is to use Alexa, Google or apple’s devices as an omnipresent mic to connect with home assistant but they all don’t allow it. But I have some other ideas I want to explore that I think people would like but I need the funds to test it out 💰💰
You have to get the aqara sensor into home assistant first. If your node red server is separate from home assistant (ie your not using the node ted add-on in home assistant) then you need to download the home Assitant package in node red and configure the nodes to talk to your home assistant server

After I stopped watching UA-cam videos and actually thought how I could use these sensors I came up with some real life uses. i actually have two similar uses: I use one of the fp2s to know if we’ve gone to bed and turn off everything and lock all the doors. I also have a security one: I have a zone where we keep our keys. So if we get our keys, there’s no other presence sensed in the house, the garage door opens & closes then the garage door opens and closes….the away mode is triggered in 10 min and also triggers the “Show notification action” to let everyone know the security system will be armed.
Nice 👌🏾 How many of the sensors do you have around the house to know that there’s no other presence? For example if you have a walk-in closet or someone in the bathroom?
@@technithusiast Downstairs is pretty open concept so two cover the communal areas downstairs. I have 1 in each of the used bedrooms (2), 1 covering the upstairs landing and hallway and 1 in the Master bathroom for a total of 6. So, the two in the bedrooms aren’t set for sleep detection they’re set for zone detection and placed on the walls. I set a zone on the beds with the automation triggered at 1am. This way I can still use them to set zones in the bedrooms. ex: The master bedroom covers the bedroom, half of the walk-in closet and the bedroom door. I know that I have blind areas but I have pretty good coverage. There’s also the issue of suppose someone is in the backyard I wouldn’t know and I can’t check if the sliding glass door is locked, just that it’s closed. My solution for if the sensors miss someone was to add the notification trigger.
@@technithusiast At first I did get a lot of ghosting but I took a lot of time testing the sensitivity settings for each area as well as slight angle adjustments, now they’re all on either Medium or Low. I do still get some ghosting but I don’t find that it really causes issues with HomeKit or any of the automations. As for recalibration: After getting them dialed in I’ve only had to recalibrate one sensor once. For whatever reason it seemed to think that it was hanging from the ceiling (it wasn’t, it’s on the wall) so it thought that the detection mode and placement didn’t match.
You can :) as long as your home assistant server has a zigbee radio installed (like sky connect or conbee stick) it can act as the zigbee hub and most of the aqara product can connect directly to it 😬
Im positive you can do it ! i have the aqara hub installed via homekit in HA. you have to pair it to your phone first then delete it from your phone. HA should then automatically pick it up
Yeah It is on the pricey side. That’s why if anyone consider getting FP2 I would encourage putting in a place where you can create many different automations and squeeze the most out of it to get your moneys worth. It would be a shame to just use it to turn and off lights in a single area when it can do so much more 😁
I can't say for certain since i don't know the layout and if you items that cause interference (like fans). However, with those technicalities aside, this sensor can reach about 8 meters. So if your apartment is a 7m by 10m open-concept box then it should cover the majority of your space.
1st idea first objection right away. Using FP2 for a couple of months now, I can say that an area getting "unoccupied" has a rather significant delay. It sometimes takes about a minute for an area setup in FP2 to turn unoccupied. Setting an area for bed and an area for outside the bed in the room and then setting a condition for bed to be vacated to trigger.... My son would leave the room 5 times. Not realistic. (and yes I calibrated using Aqara AI several times).
Mileage seems to vary for individuals. I have something like this setup in the master bedroom and it’a working well. Perhaps the device is defect or interference?
Yes initially. I found that when i tried tracking small sections ( like a couch or bed) then automations would be more inconsistent. However tracking larger sections, I find it works waaay better and prefer it over motion sensors
put an asic in your job. guard it with a door sensor and an fp2. write a conditional trigger to toggle power. off when door is opened. fp2 will confirm presence and keep resetting a sleep timer until no presence detected for 120seconds and door is closed - asic toggles back on. watch bosses face when opening next electric statement. 😂laughs in nMwave🤣 dont judge me
@@technithusiastbecause like companies who want to sell you something and provide you relevant ads… government too loves to know every detail about your personal life. It would be too easy for companies who fish for data to extract and sell it to government agencies. This is a device I’d more than likely add onto the IoT VLAN with some open ports to communicate with other devices on the network and definitely configure my network’s firewall to secure the traffic in and out of this device.
The worst sensor I ever use, it shows ghost all the times, when I back after few days fo2 doesn't work the lights doesn't work completely, I try to reset reset sensor and the lights but doesn't helps. Do NOT buy it, isn't worth.
Have you tried it in different rooms or tried returning it and getting a different one? (im not trying to convince you to get an aqara sensor, i simply want to know the extent of your troubleshooting)
thanks for the comment. I admit you cant get too specific when defining an area cuz its accuracy wasnt meant for these types of use cases but these automations do work

Wow you’re fully covered! Do you encounter a lot of ”ghosting” or need to recalibrate the sensors often?
@@technithusiast At first I did get a lot of ghosting but I took a lot of time testing the sensitivity settings for each area as well as slight angle adjustments, now they’re all on either Medium or Low. I do still get some ghosting but I don’t find that it really causes issues with HomeKit or any of the automations. As for recalibration: After getting them dialed in I’ve only had to recalibrate one sensor once. For whatever reason it seemed to think that it was hanging from the ceiling (it wasn’t, it’s on the wall) so it thought that the detection mode and placement didn’t match.
Do you have any blueprints for these?
Sorry, I don’t. This was a thought experiment, so I got it working just to prove it’s possible but I didn’t keep them.
I wish I could get aqara to connect to my home assistant
You can :) as long as your home assistant server has a zigbee radio installed (like sky connect or conbee stick) it can act as the zigbee hub and most of the aqara product can connect directly to it 😬
@@technithusiast I cannot get the hub to be found. The Homekit controller auto discovers it. However, it will not pair.
Im positive you can do it ! i have the aqara hub installed via homekit in HA. you have to pair it to your phone first then delete it from your phone. HA should then automatically pick it up
@@technithusiast would you be interested in helping me? I have the ability to do screen share.
I like your thinking. However at £80/$100 the FP2 is just too expensive for the functionality it provides.
Yeah It is on the pricey side. That’s why if anyone consider getting FP2 I would encourage putting in a place where you can create many different automations and squeeze the most out of it to get your moneys worth. It would be a shame to just use it to turn and off lights in a single area when it can do so much more 😁
Is one device (fp2) sufficient for a 70-square-meter apartment, or do you need a separate device for each room?
I can't say for certain since i don't know the layout and if you items that cause interference (like fans). However, with those technicalities aside, this sensor can reach about 8 meters. So if your apartment is a 7m by 10m open-concept box then it should cover the majority of your space.
Automation idea: creating Jarvis-like interactions as seen in the movie Ironman.
I’m Slowly getting there 😁
1st idea first objection right away.
Perhaps the device is defect or interference?
i think the ghosts issue may have been resolved with latest frimware update
I can’t say for 100% sure but I do get the ghosting maybe once a month or maybe less?
i just updated mine yesturday and it says it fixed "gosting" @@technithusiast
A lot of people are leaving bad reviews of FP2. Did you have any issues?
Yes initially. I found that when i tried tracking small sections ( like a couch or bed) then automations would be more inconsistent. However tracking larger sections, I find it works waaay better and prefer it over motion sensors
What’s going to happen with my dogs?
Your doggos will be fine 😬. Many people report that small animals to not trip around he sensors. But I assume mileage may vary
lets hope they dont find any health implications to mmwave in the future
put an asic in your job. guard it with a door sensor and an fp2. write a conditional trigger to toggle power. off when door is opened. fp2 will confirm presence and keep resetting a sleep timer until no presence detected for 120seconds and door is closed - asic toggles back on.
watch bosses face when opening next electric statement.
😂laughs in nMwave🤣
dont judge me
😬
Amazing tech but I wouldn’t let this device access the internet except to get firmware updates.
How come?
@@technithusiastbecause like companies who want to sell you something and provide you relevant ads… government too loves to know every detail about your personal life. It would be too easy for companies who fish for data to extract and sell it to government agencies.
This is a device I’d more than likely add onto the IoT VLAN with some open ports to communicate with other devices on the network and definitely configure my network’s firewall to secure the traffic in and out of this device.
Still too many bugs on FP2
Yeah it definitely does have bugs. overtime these tech will get better and less buggy.
These ideas would be great if the Aqara FP2 actually works and is accurate. Most of the time, it doesn't work and it's not accurate.
thanks for the comment. I admit you cant get too specific when defining an area cuz its accuracy wasnt meant for these types of use cases but these automations do work

Lolol a few people point that out
She could just say it’s a ghost
Relying on automation to care and protect an infant should be outlawed.
😮 that’s a strong opinion! Perhaps we should also investigate other automated safety devices like airbags, smoke detectors and alarms 😜
