I agree. It sounds more like why did they think our eating habit isn't acceptable in Japan? They have no clue why they were treated that way. What is acceptable in China may not be acceptable in other countries. I am an Asian of Chinese descent.
There’s no clear evidence against either party. But since the owner or waiter didn’t even asked for the women to pay, I’m gonna go with his side of the story.
I think it's clear. It's not like the restaurant didn't let those women in and have 90 minutes buffet. They gave them everything but everyone have their limit and these two women clearly exceeded it.
This video doesnt show the full story but there are more details on chinese cocial media. The 2 women paid for a 90min buffet. But they stayed after 90 min which is wrong, they were reminded of this many times but chose to disobey the rules. They were also spitting on the floor and throwing food on the floor.
@@wildlotus4339 The funny thing is they have. The Chinese government wrote and disseminated a booklet of what to do and what not to do when travelling abroad
According to a few comments I saw on China's social medias... 1. The girls threw prawn shells on the floor 2. Exceeded the 90 minute limit, even after being advised multiple times 3. Started filming because they got mad the waiters reminded them multiple times their 90-minute buffet has ended That's what made the store manager so mad

i'm a foreigner living in japan for more than 20 years and i have observed many chinese tourist visiting japan that have a very bad manners throwing garbage anywhere and arrogant,
Ummmm he wasn’t discriminating then tbh. If customers in my restaurant was that messy, threw shrimp shells on the floor, stay pass over 90 mins, I would have kick them out as well.
I believe nobody will discriminate money. Probably he thought both woman will just eat and leave? But when the woman start to complaint what she felt that might start the whole thing? I understand what you saying. If the woman say "i want to enter your restaurant just to sit for a while", I believe the owner will not let them in, like you said if he was really discriminating against Chinese. But both woman are paying for their food, which I think he definitely put his discrimination aside to make profit on his business. Anyway we all just assuming.
1: Japanese restaurant seats chinese customers at table 2: Chinese customers eat 3: Restaurant refuse further service due to customers uncleanliness 4: Restaurant refuse payment. Restaurant would have refused service from the beginning if it the reason was discrimination.
I'm chinese but I'm going to have to side with the Japanese man here, he seemed genuinely upset about their table manners and didn't bring up race a single time.
If he didn’t want their money, I would think he is 100% in the right. I’ve only ever done that a couple of times in my life, and it was because of really boorish behaviour.
Meanwhile in the US, if you don’t leave at least a 25 percent tip for bad service, staff will try to chase you down to tip at least 25 percent of your bill.
It is a typical habit of Chinese tourists to behave disrespectfully and then victimize themselves by waving the flag of discrimination. Really pathetic.
@@Timothee_Chalamet_CMBYNthe difference is that in th US, they just wouldn’t serve you to begin with. Here this restaurant served them and advised them of their time limit, and even after that, still refused their money and told them to leave. Two different situations
Here are what Chinese customer did and why restaurant was so mad at them, based on Japanese news. 1.They stayed over time , even after 90 mins buffet time was over, even though restaurant had asked them to leave over and over. 2 .They spited shrimp's shell on the flor. Restaurant asked them to stop, but they didn't. ( Restaurant cleaned all the mess.) 3. They started to record video when they are criticized.
I have witnessed mainland Chinese travelers in several Asian countries. They tend to be rude and treat their wait staff like trash. I can see why this restaurant in Japan kicked them out.
Most of this tourist are in government, that why they try are inferior. They probably do that to their country. They treated workers nobody, below their level.
Yup in the Philippines I experienced Chinese spitting everywhere even inside of the elevator and the Filipino janitor told them not to do it anymore I know not all Chinese but most of them, no to racism just stating facts.
In USA, like all races spit anywhere they want, I see black, mexicans and even Filipinos randomly spitting the yellow green sputum outside the church in the parking lot.
If the Japanese guy was racist why would he have allowed the Chinese women to enter the restaurant, eat their fill and then make them leave without letting them pay 🤔. What kind of racism is that? 🤔
@Mason991031 Chinese and Japanese are different nationalities, but are of somewhat similar descent, no? It would be more like xenophobia than racism I guess. But I can't really say...

First of all theres a lot of chinese tourist in japan esp in osaka. Japanese dont discriminate. But if u have a really bad manner or table manner doesnt matter where ur from yes u will be scolded or kicked out. Ive seen a lot of chinese tourist in japan being so loud and not a care in the world throwing their trash everywhere while sightseeing.
They do discriminate, but I dont blame them. I'm Taiwanese. They wouldnt smile to you unless you specifically told them you are Taiwanese. Have friends from Osaka, even he agree that they do. Mainland Chinese are sometimes rude. However, as long as you are respectful, they will still treat you well. They just wont greet you the same though. I dont blame them one bit.
chan stanley I don't blame Japan too in the way they behave towards them though. If they now look at Chinese people that way then it means that they already have a long history of how many times Chinese tourists behave in such a bad manner. But then again we still can't generalize. Maybe that's their perspective.
Really? When I went there esp at that famous fish market many greeted tourist with their native language, if it's korean they will greet in korean, if it's Indonesian they will greet in Indonesian, if it's chinese they greet in mandarin. The problem definitely the tourist. Sure there are racism everywhere but when it comes to tourist japan has the best hospitalities. My friends are chinese HK and Singapore all had best time in japan & kept coming back there for vacay
Shields H and krnstrong I do agree! They have one of the best hospitalities; however, once you make some Japanese friends there, they will tell you the real truth. Dont get me wrong. Most of them are still nice. Had a friend suggested us to wear "I'm from Taiwan" T-shirt. It is also political accounting for unresolved WWII issues, and bad behaviors. Personally seen Chinese throw food in the shopping mall. For those who wants to know more, just read the news on mainland China boycotting Japanese products. There are still conflicts between them. It has died down. No matter what, as long as you are respectful, you'll be fine. Also important, during Japan earthquake, Taiwan donated a lot of money. This was not discrimination against Chinese tourists. The tourists were behaving badly. The restaurant didn't even want their money, it just wanted them to go.

The line: "What trouble could two young women get up to" signals to me that they are not telling the truth. Although you can never be sure, Innocent people will look for facts. Liars often use "believe me" lines like: - "I would never do that, - "This is not who I am" - "That's not me"

Osaka people are very vocal and passionate about their businesses. SPECIALLY when it comes to food. Disrespecting a restaurant by means of disrespecting the food (how to eat etc) is a low blow for us Japanese people, specially Osakans.
Losing face is very serious thing in Japanese culture, and they always try not to cause other people lose face. These women chose the wrong people to degrade. Japan is world renowned for their service. This person must have done something wrong. Even after everything he didn't ask you to pay and that's saying something! Edit: Smol grammar correction
I'm siding with the restaurant. Tourist sometimes can be incredibly rude and disgusting. I worked at a seafood restaurant and one time a table just threw all their crab shells on the ground. From my experiences, it really seems like some tourists from mainland China (and I’m saying some, NOT all) could do with a bit more prep on how things roll in other countries. Being of Chinese descent but born, raised, and living elsewhere, it’s kind of hit me hard seeing this stuff go down. Like this one time during dinner in the Maldives, I saw a lady from a group of eight just grab an entire big fish dish from the hotel buffet and haul it over to her table. Left the place looking like a mess, bones everywhere. Then the next morning, there was this guy who got super upset because the chef wouldn’t make his eggs with sweet soy sauce, worrying it’d mess up the pan and stink up the place. He made quite the scene, insisting he should get whatever he wants because he’s a paying guest. These moments made me switch up how I do meals when I’m traveling. I’ve started skipping the buffet scene, even if I’ve paid for it, and hit up the à la carte restaurants instead. Just makes for a better vibe all around. It’s kind of eye-opening, especially when you compare it to how things are in Japan, where everyone takes pride in keeping things clean and respecting shared spaces. I’m not trying to throw everyone under the bus here. Just sharing what I’ve seen and how it’s nudged me to think and act a bit differently when I’m out there traveling. It’s all about getting that mutual respect and understanding going, which honestly, makes the whole travel experience way better for everyone. ❤
I am a Japanese, when we go to the restaurants we should clean the table before we leave not throwing shells at the floor. Also no littering garbages everywhere.

I have been told on the phone by real estate agents that a certain owner doesn't rent to blacks or to Filipinos or to Chinese and it was not isolated. I have been told I couldn't go to so-and-so place because I was not Japanese. It is widespread and entrenched. If the real estate bubble had not burst, it would be even worse now. A dead gaijin at the hands of police, or any Japanese for that matter, will not garner any real news coverage. The difference is they don't lynch people here but they throw roadblocks from all directions and the TV shows and news programs go right past it without reporting on any issues. In the U.S., people have been working on the problems for decades but in Japan, according to most Japanese, there is no problem: Avoid negative publicity and keep my head in the sand. I’m in Thailand and we have lots of tourists. Whenever you’re in a mall’s bathroom, it’s a common occurrence to hear Chinese people talking very loudly to each other (with other people in bathroom stalls in between them such as myself). It’s incredible to me how that happens; how it’s even comfortable for them to do that and the lack of courtesy for others in the restroom. Japanese people would never do that, or it would be extremely rare. This speaks for itself.
Americans can be pretty loud too. So can the British when you think about it.
But now I know that I must use my library voice if I ever go to Thailand!
@@petercdowney Thai people can get just as loud but in more appropriate places like bars or a dinner gathering between coworkers after work (and five drinks deep into it with less memory of stress... lol). Here in the US, Chinese workers talk to each other loudly in front of others (not Chinese). They don't care and don't have the feeling of shame. Japanese women always eat a small bite so slow

I guess you're not from mainland china. I've worked in china for 3 years and I had an awful experience with the rudeness of the mainland chinese
@@ThuggishDD not all
There are many cases of Chinese tourists yelling and being rude. I think can't say about this but it's really difficult to get a Japanese person this mad. Hope both side find peace in their heart instead of hatred.
Why it is so hard to follow the rules?
Mr. Rethz simple...E.G.O
chinese peope believe they are spending money to help save economies around the world thus making them saviors. They think they are superior so there is no need to follow rules or respect local culture.

A lot of the citizens are illiterate and uncivilized. They don't know how to behave and have to be treated by force.
Even as a Chinese I could understand that was not discrimination but a valid complaint on the eating habits. Those tourists just can’t understand... idiots
According to my mom, she has a sister in China who has seen ppl go to police stations for helping ppl who fell
They’re unreasonable
@@APersonOnUA-camX yeah, my mom said that too. If some old Chinese woman fell, don’t help them, they’ll sue you and blame you. Thing is, my parents are Chinese, so she’s prolly telling the truth
Mainland or other?

I'm Chinese but I understand Japanese people, they have high politeness and tolerance for things you do to them. If they get angry, you must be done something intolerable to them.
You are not Chinese. UA-cam is banned in China. You are lying

I am also Chinese and I once worked in Keio University in Tokyo for about a year. I once got my feet ran over by a Chinese tourist’s suitcase wheels on the metro with no apology, and when I was waiting in the line at Haneda airport to get my flight ticket back to Shanghai, several Chinese old ladies just cut in my queue without asking. And the fact is I am not the outdoor type person, I am more like an Otaku. Just imagine how many these kind of rude tourists Japanese people have to meet in their daily lives...Even as a Chinese, I can’t tolerate tbh. Since during my one year stay in Tokyo I have never be discriminated, I will not regard this video as discrimination, these two deserve it.

The owner is so disgusted; he has never seen such disgusting table manners. Please get out! If this is true, then these ladies better learn to eat with proper table manners, not drop food on the floor or all over the table. The owner has every right to tell them to get out. People now immediately bring up racial discrimination instead of being accountable for their actions.
