I would say the upgrade is worth it just because of the less amount of tokens in the third edition. There are waaaaay to many tokens in the second edition for just a simple game.

I just kept them in the punch out board, there are indeed waaay too many to keep track of.

Tiny baggies are your friends! Honestly you should be organizing all of your games for faster setup and their own protection over time.

Played the third edition for the first time today! For a little context, I’ve only owned the first edition + widow’s walk expansion and religiously played only the first edition rules haha
The third edition was a surprisingly good new take on the game! I highly recommend it 100%
My only minor complaints would probably be the few amount of omen cards (but it does kinda make up for the events that can trigger haunts), and how tame some of the rooms are compared to the 1st/2nd edition (some not having rolls needed anymore and how the vault is already unlocked)
But overall, I enjoyed it and will continue to play!

This IS my favorite board game of all time i burned through two copies of first edition. My current second edition well played. Gonna pick up third edition just so i have it. Also there is an upgrade kit that helps with a few components

Currently looking to add Betrayal to my collection and was fortunate enough to see a 3rd edition on the way. Gonna research a bit more but, so far, I'm leaning towards 3rd over 2nd.

If the scenarios are all brand new it would probably be worth it for me. With that said, I bought the 2nd edition as well as the widows expansion and character upgrade cards last month so I’m not in the best spot of timing.

From what I've seen, lots of new haunts, but many are updated ones from the last editions (e.g. Crimson Jack haunt is in this too, and is the example haunt in the rulebook so hopefully that's not too much spoiler) but the rules changes and the scenario cards are worth it for me. Just hope Widows Walk gets a 3rd ed version

Scenerio cards, but they do not do enough. (tiles) We agree, and felt they were thinner too. Dice are heavier and feel better. Clips are terrible, 2nd were better with some tape, these with the tiny strip holding it will tear way easier. Anyone wanting to get into Betrayal should buy Legacy, or 2nd, 3rd is ok but not different enough. Real shame is the minis in the spaces take up too much space, could had them stand upright in the bottom left, and use spare areas for tokens. Over all some great Easter eggs to show it is sequel, (like vault being broken into already). We like it, but prefer Legacy and or groups love the fantasy theme of Baldurs Gate, but this is worth while pick up. Hope future add ons, give unique events to the scenarios. Great vid btw.

when i bought my first edition on 2005 it was quality mostly, ii never "upgraded" to the second and probably never will either after looking through the components and 2 days ago i look through the components of this version and i MIGHT buy it ONE day just to mix and mtatch, but i highly doubt it, i have so many other game candidates waiting in a long cue deserving my money and my time more ..

2nd edition: Haunt roll rule: roll 6 dice get 1 or higher to prevent the haunt. Roll 0 or less the haunt starts.
3rd edition: Haunt roll rule: roll 1 dice get 0 or less to prevent. Roll 5 or higher the haunt starts.

He didn't even mention the fact that the third edition as a completely different way to start the haunts.
2nd edition you'd have to use the chart to figure out who the betrayer was what haunt you are and what page to flip to. But now you pre-select one of nine cards and each one will have nine different haunts on the back and from there you figure out what haunt to do.
And unlike second edition it's impossible to get the hunt on the first few omen rolls. The second edition had it possible to start the haunt on the first roll or the second roll

It maybe better to buy 3r if you want to skip the time and expense of the 2nd,, or if I was you I get the even better Legacy.
It does all depend, for what ever reason you did not get the 2nd for any reason, that reason would still be true for the 3rd.

  • @TheLofren

The library is single use now? Now its when discovering before it was when ending so multiple explorers could go there and end their turn for the buff… also it wasn’t really unclear it says when you end your turn and your turn ends after you draw and resolve a card, this way an event card could pull you into another room snd make you miss the buff, now you can discover it, get the buff and then the event pulls you into another room
Also jesus your 2e box is super badly organized, the tokens should be where the tiles are an vice versa and the characters below the pentagonal character cards,
Also felt you shouldve talked more about the differences between both eds, now the haunt has nothing to do with the room for example
