Simpler and clearer than the other video I looked at. Good job. Thanks.

You are very welcome! It has saved my projects before as well.
Also, welcome to macrame! It is fun and frustrating, but it is a fantastic way to express your artistic skills.
      Just keep knotting!!!

That’s the boat I’m in!! Congrats on your first project🥰 I’m doing a giant 6 ft macraweave as my sister’s wedding present🤫 and the cords are SO long I’m getting tangled up in them (not literally, they’re doing the tangling without me included lol) - anyway, I’ve decided to cut them to a more manageable length (ie. NOT 48 ft) and then I can add more cord later.

I think it should work, I've tried it with other crafts and was successful. Good luck!

How does this hold up to the weight of a larger planter, for say filler cords in a spiral on a hanging planter? I know in crochet any knot aside from a stitch will eventually break.

I'm sorry that I can not give you a good answer. It is going to depend on a lot of variables. What mm cord are you using, is it twisted or braided, how heavy is the pot with filling?
I've used this method on a small planter and wall hanging, and it has held up on both.
Maybe someone else can get us a better answer.
