They really didn't do them any favors with this mixing.... This song is such a banger and they majorly underserved the band. They still rocked out tho!
I discovered them for the first time yesterday and that was my reaction as well. I don't care much for their live aesthetic but it's really nice to see a band come through where the aesthetic/vibes aren't 90% of what they do. These can really play, the songs are written well, the arrangement is good, the singer is phenomenal, the rhythm section is great, I really like the guitars. They're talented and competent musicians, which has sadly been a rarity on the UK indie scene for the past 15 years. I've just preordered their album, which is the first time I've done that for a debut album in about 10 years. PS I think the exciting thing listening to them as well, is there's still definite room for growth too, these could be something really special. Also, I'd like to change my reference to the "UK indie scene" to the English indie scene because there's been some decent bands come out of Scotland that time.
This is such an incredible track. Abigail has some real Freddie in there, and I love every bit of her stage presence and vocal. Emily Roberts is such an amazing guitarist as well.
@@Tophusification definitely some Brian May in Emily's tone and solo style. From Abigail I was getting more of a PJ Harvey/Nick Cave vibe from their Henry Lee video, more in the style than in the delivery though.
I so love this band. They are one of the most exciting things I've discovered musically in years. Have seen them in Edinburgh, Hull and London already this year 🤩
Jealous! I’m seeing them tonight & I’ve not been this excited for a concert maybe ever? And they’re playing at a bar, our local station is presenting them & the one DJ was basically like “this will probably be the last time to see them at a venue this small”. Cannot wait.
Had to search this band out after they got a major award ,hell I,m 68 with a passion for music from many genres and this group is totally amazing ,so fxxking original , Brits can still produce the very best !
So much invention, so many ideas, so many layers. A total triumph in all respects! But Emily Roberts truly stands out. Is there a better guitarist anywhere at the moment??? I doubt it.
@@LiveInConcertUK Yes, there are lots, Tim Henson for one, but, what do you mean by better? Technically better, faster, those things can be measured. Saying someone is the best guitarist is usually nonsense, whats meant is they are their favourite, and thats all that really matters.
She seems good but chill your beans there a little pal. I remember watching this episode on tv and when she started strutting around and dancing whilst singing as if it was nothing…I was gobsmacked. She was just too cool!!
Badass. Love the vocalist and the guitarist - her solo is great. It's really cool and heartening to see a band enjoying themselves playing music together.
Simply awesome, awesome debut. I have listened to the 30 times already today and will have them on loop tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow - after that I'll scoot to see them at one of their shows
Thanks Brian May. This is a good performance at jools Holland from last year. They are a good band. They are simply the new rock royalty according to the queen legend and he is right.
Love this song, great to see an all female band play live and sound this good, kinda reminds me of a cross between Kate bush and Florence and the machine,,,,, Glastonbury next maybe?……….❤️✌️
I saw them supporting Florence + the Machine in Cork back in June, and immediately regretted not having caught them at Glastonbury a few days earlier! Caught their own little show in Glasgow in October and they were amazing!
Probably the most interesting combo ive heard in ages .Take a bit of Roxy Music , Kate Bush , Sparks , Bowie , stir fry and there you have The Last Dinner Party !
They are without doubt a very good band, let’s hope they can live up to the hype that’s currently being generated for them. The guitarist sound reminds me of Brian May,and of course there’s the Kate Bush/Sparks thing going on.I have no idea of their modern influences but there have been the last few years some great female bands who haven’t got the wider acclaim that The Last Dinner Party currently gets.Good luck to them and they certainly shine out in todays music scene.
@TurkeyGroundBeef-th4js they are not nepo babies, and even if they were, I'll take nepo babies all day long if they smash this fucking hard. Don't try to gatekeep mush, it's a shit look.

That guitar solo!! Something about the tone and way it's played. Sounds incredible! I'm not familiar with them. Any notable guitar in their other songs?
You put together on stage Abigail Morris and Rebeca Lovell and you have the best female talent both sides of the Pond... Ok, take away "female", just the best talent. They are incredible!!!
I gave up on modern music with likes of Ed sheeran poisoning the airwaves ! Then I heard this song ! Well done . Nice to hear some proper music for a change , something different 👌
A lovely pot-pourri of Abba melody and harmony, Marina Diamandis (lead singer in particular seems massively inspired by her), Amanda Palmer (lyrics could almost be out of her songbook) and Florence and the Machine, dressed up like it's the Spice Girls' pyjama party... with footwear from the Spiders from Mars. What's not to like?
That young lady singing is absolutely mesmerizing to watch perform.
Whole band are to be fair ☺️

Lead guitarist won’t be complaining. The solo really leapt out
Standard BBC
BBC live audio mixing has always been shocking
Cant agree more!
Listen to the Mix at the "ZDF-Magazin Royale"...the sound is a thousand times better than this one! And there the song really rocks!
Quite simply the most exciting and creative band to appear for years. Abigail Morris is a a stand-out frontwoman - well done ladies!
You’re goddam right! ❤
Nah!
Maybe if Sparks never existed. Wet Leg FTFW!

Why does everyone have to hear a good song and immediately start describing it as revolutionary. Its drums guitars and keys nicely arranged. Chill.
This is such an incredible track. Abigail has some real Freddie in there, and I love every bit of her stage presence and vocal. Emily Roberts is such an amazing guitarist as well.
