They met the first time at school summer camp when they were 14 y.o in croatia , where they originally come from. But then they met again after 10 years of the first meeting in London when they took their master bachelor. Stjepan actuall felt up with the classical music at some point and then he heard smooth criminal at the very first time and bad the crazy idea to do that song on cello and asked luka to join him and made a video and uploaded on you tube. And it went viral!!

Good evening from New England...Kurt would be hella proud!!...Under all the distortion and Dave Grohl's monster drumming in Nirvana Kurt had that pop sensibility in his melodies and they transfered well into classical music..Peace from the Northeast...

I saw them a long time ago when they came to Australia for the first time, and it was just them 2. They had JUST brought in their awesome drummer, and only I think 3 songs had Drums. It was the most beautiful amazing thing ever, and even though they didn't speak much English, they were the most lovely duo ever.
Im going to see these guys in concert in a couple of days. They freaking rock!

Apparently they met as children when they would go to cello competitions. One is from Croatia and the other Slovania. They became friends but were competitors. And I read that the one who sits on the left of the screen said that the looks between them are because they used to compete as children and they’re still competing! Lol check out the Elton John video about 2cellos. They joined Elton’s band for a time and used to open his shoes with 4 songs each night and get a standing ovation after each song. Elton describes their dynamic in a great way

I doubt that others have not told you yet, but both of the cello players are 'Master' grade artists in 'Classical' in the Classical music scene. Both came from Croatia and met while studying in England. They played for years in the Classical genre scene and when they began to play together, they would play 'modern' music and 'rock' for fun... Someone saw this and suggested that they 'Go Pro' as Rock musicians. They did and became a worldwide hit. They were so good, that they became the 'intro' band for Sir Elton John's band. And Elton himself said that he had never heard of a band that got standing ovations for every song they played. Elton is retired now, but the 2cellos are still around, and still making music. The torch has been passed. Rock will NEVER die. It will just re-invent itself, as these two have shown us. Who'd have EVER thought that a pair of purely classical instruments, like cellos, would become ROCK instruments? Another 'wall' down, and rock marches on. Keep head banging!
