Following on from my video in which I restored 'Billy The Scaffolder's' Vintage Rolex Datejust this time I restore the bracelet to go with the watch. I have restored this Rolex and its bracelet for an Irishman called Cathal who purchased the watch from Billy and has gifted it to his father in Ireland.

Special tools are required for doing this work and despite it being the first Rolex bracelet I have restored Cathal seemed to be pretty pleased with the result.
I limit the narration in this video to give room for some nice calming ASMR.

    Wasn't Cathal appreciative.

Everyone take a moment to consider how many times the old owner's wrist moved to create that amount of wear on the pins, the countless hours of work done with it on, yet with a clean an relube, the watch performance was excellent. It is a testament to how well built a Rolex movement is. Fantastic.

Finally, a great demonstration of the complete disassembly of a Watch bracelet. Fantastic resto!

I dont know how you do it, Rich. That bracelet would have made me pull out the rest of my hair. Remarkable how much wear was on those pins.

such a waste of time when you think about it.. It is like restoring old socks just because they were made by some fancy brand.. Nice video though.

This epitomises why Rolex are special 'it just kept on working.' Say no more. Tell me which AP or Patek you could say that about after decades of those daily battles! Not a chance in hell.😂

  • @stretta

I understand why you don't do bracelets.

  • @spidersinspace1099

Good job mate. There is still some flexibility in the band but that is due to the ware in the bracelet links (which can't be helped), not the pins. This bracelet will probably now out last the owner.

  • @SaltimusMaximus

I would have had that bracelet looked at long before it got to that, my biggest fear is looking at my watch to find it not there because the bracelet came apart

  • @TheSchmed

Yeah, when a spring bar broke in my bracelet, I took the watch to Rolex, and the only option they gave me was to purchase a new $2000 Oyster bracelet. I bought a Rolex spring bar myself, and fixed it in 10 minutes. The same for the (very thin) pins in the clasp, I replaced most of them, and cannot tell the ones I replaced to the (still good) original friction pins.

My God, man, your patience and attention to detail is incredible!! Amazing work!!

  • @demmertp

Wow Richard that was both delicate and tedious work to separate out the bracelet parts and then polish each one. I applaud your patience and skill in bringing that bracelet back to life. Just brilliant.

  • @bjoernaltmann

That bracelet 😱 And so many parts. You resurrected it in the truest sense

  • @darrenfry4695

The guy who's getting that Rolex is a lucky man not only having a Rolex but one that's had the perfect perrett treatment..

  • @benlabrier3550

Thanks- I’ve always wondered how the bracelet is dismantled and redone, very informative

  • @johnauld0

I’m a scaffolder of 26 years and watches take an absolute battering….excellent job 💪

  • @wannabe_sailor_777smith6

Fascinating, I had no idea it was that labor intensive to re-pin bracelet. Great job as usual.

Outstanding job Major, you Sir have earned a standing ovation from your cousins in America. ❤

  • @tooslow8150

Wow. What an incredible amount of tedious work. The bracket made the movement restoration look easy. Thank you for showing the amount of detail and dedication you have. Well done!
