Love the F18 such a superb design, been around for a while now, I remember as a rifleman in the army on Kangaroo 89 at Weipa on patrol and looking up at the sound of jets and seeing two F18 jets having a 🐕 fight.

3:11 if anybody could notice, aircraft #214 must be one of the 12 Rhinos who get those Growler wirings. See that SATCOM hump behind the spinal antenna.

Why???? fly out do their thing and if they survive go back to base to a hot meal, showers, ready made bed, air conditioning Goodness they are RAAF for heavens sake . Try some thanks to the real workers, the Army and in particular the Infantry who start an Operation on the ground, walking, doing miles of patrols, all weathers, no beds, no hot meals, no showers until the Operation is over.

@@jacktattis We have had the Abrams since 2007, and the Challenger has a better record because it hasn't been deployed as wideley in combat. 7 of the 9 Abrams lost were friendly fire, the eighth was to prevent capture and the other was a legitimate kill by the enemy. 🙂

There were 20 Abrams replaced by the Saudis due to Battle Damage 9 were lost due to battle damage 2 deliberately destroyed There have been NO Challengers lost in combat and none to battle damage 2 were to Friendly fire that were repaired One overnight

I factory tested and verified the initial power units for the Tindall Base way back in the early 90's a pair of 6 cylinder Isuzu gensets for general power and a tiny little 4 cylinder unit whose sole task was to ensure the catch wires stayed stowed until needed. I wonder if they are still there? A typical government defense job where the size of the documentation paperwork pile was bigger than the actual units.

@@jacktattis I worked on another job for the RAAF around the same time ( I worked for Detroit Diesel in Adelaide) where we had to make a trailer mounted genset/air conditioner unit that plugged into a plane that was working it's way around Australia laser mapping the ocean floor. The requirement for the genset was it had to replicate exactly the performance of the old Hobart 28 Volt power pack they were currently using, right down to the volts/amp curves as the plane was started of the power pack. It took us months of work to satisfy the boffins who came out to witness test the unit, we had trouble making it function bad enough to match the old Hobart unit. Then we took it to the plane and had the crew try an engine start, their first response 'This is no better than the old f***** Hobart unit', yes we all beamed, exactly like you asked for. After the boffins left all confused we asked the crew what they actually wanted, unplugged the logic controller that was mapping the generators output and just left it as a 28 Volt power supply, which was what they wanted, near 6 months work and testing totally wasted.
