    Years ago my late brother was driving a load of lumber & got pulled over. NYS Trooper was positive the load was over weight & called in the portable scale unit. Truck was way under in the weight department & trooper asked why my brother was going slow. Like you, my brother was owner/operator & the company that hired him paid by the hour. My brother responded “It’s simple, I get paid by the hour, so I don’t push it.” Trooper just shook his head! This was back in late ‘70’s, but I still chuckle about it. Lost my brother 10 month ago, he owned his business 40 years, sole employee & did very well with it. He lived his dream & accepted the Lord before he passed. I look forward to seeing him when the good Lord calls me home. God bless you and your beautiful family & may God grant you traveling mercy’s as you live your dream!

    I knew when I saw the load info in yesterday’s video. I asked if it was Toshes Rd. That project you delivered to, the one in Chatham (*Chat-am), I supervise the on site Medic. The General Contractor is Wood Group, PLC and the project name is Maplewood Solar Project. It is an 1100 acre solar power generation farm. The pipes that you mentioned are called torque tubes. The panels mount to the torque tube which mount to steel piles and designed to rotate 180 degrees to track the sun 12 hours a day.

    Grew up with my dad into boats. We had mid-size sleeper w/ 2 engines through my early teens. It was fun doing a family camp out for a week along a river, but I swear my dad spent more time repairing the engines than anything else. Glad it had two engines, because one was always busted.

    • @NavyVet4955
      @NavyVet4955 3 роки тому +3

      You’re absolutely right about it being a hole in the water money is dumped into. Having spent a few years building and repairing boats for people 80% of the problems go away by keeping the fuel system cleaned and doing a couple hours maintenance every few months.

    • @sanansa4567
      @sanansa4567 3 роки тому +2

      that's why I think most people should just rent a boat and try it out for a season before considering how often they will use it. If is something you do frequently and can afford the maintenance then it would be worth it.

    My family doesn’t live that far from you. We’re about an hours drive from Charlotte up in the Hickory/Taylorsville area so it was kinda cool to randomly find you on UA-cam and then see you driving around in areas I’ve been through.
    My uncle is a trucker, too. He started out hauling for Guardian Freight before Shull Transport bought them out. Him and my Aunt eventually took a chance, took out a loan and then bought their own truck. My Aunt became my Uncle’s dispatcher and 10 years later they have 4 more trucks, my Aunt is still dispatching and their business is booming. My Aunt and Uncle made the best decision of their lives by taking the risk of going into business for themselves. My uncle doesn’t get to see his family as much as he would like, but he has become so financially secure that he could retire anytime he would like and be set for life.

If you ever move up to a non pure ski boat, consider the dual prop Bravo as it will get you out of the hole faster and handle better docking and rafting up. I subscribed to help ya out, man. Kool videos. My cousin drives OTR, My uncle drove his entire life, my cousin followed in his footsteps. I thought about it, but I don't wanna drive a big rig, too much responsibility for me. I guess its like anything ya do in life the more ya do it the better ya get. Only way I do that job is if I drive a straight truck or cargo van...... I been guttering homes for 30 years of my life, I guess the pay is some what the same, we get paid by the ft, where a lot of drivers get paid by the mile. We hang 800-1000 ft a day, n make bank, I work with my brother, he taught me everything I know. Hard to find another crew that can hang with us, A lot of times we are at home by noon or 1 and made more than people working 10-12 hour days. Don't get me wrong, we work our ass off, it doesn't come easy by any means, we just been doing it forever and know whats up.
